The 1-2 Punch: Lowell Cohn and Grant Cohn Move The Needle

Lowell Cohn and his son, Grant ..the dynamic "Ziggy" as Lowell calls him.

ONE (Lowell) moved the needle --the other (Grant) now moves the needle.

I miss Lowell's take-no-prisoners writing --first at the Chronicle and then later, the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.

He came my way to tease us all, did Lowell.

Grant Cohn --I don't always agree with his 49ers' rants but I do watch his show --it's a damn good watch.

  1. Most of the time Cohn makes controversial comments merely for the sake of being controversial and attract attention. Meh...

  2. Grant reportedly nearly got into a fist fight with a 49er player earlier this year. Sounds as if he’s picking up where his dad left off; shit disturber!

  3. Grant’s show is highly opinionated and sometimes insightful.

  4. I never liked Lowell Cohn...always stirring controversy to put himself into a story..not a fan of his" brand of journalism"

  5. Little Cone is just a jerk pretending to be a sports writer.

  6. Speaking of sports, I’m starting to enjoy listening to 810 The Spread, and starting to not miss KGO 810 political talk radio. Rich, should I feel guilty?

  7. Makes perfect sense. Grant Cohn is a self-important, provocative, know-nothing just like RL.

  9. I always liked Lowell Cohn...at least he speaks the truth and isn't simply a promoter for local teams like most Bay Area sports "journalists", e.g., KNBR/Chronicle...

  10. Lowell learned from Glenn Dickey got better or worse.

  11. Doesn't matter if you're right or wrong anymore. Just say/write the opposite of popular opinion and you'll get lots of attention. I used to wonder if Skip Bayless learned this from Lowell during Skip's time in the BA.

  12. "popular opinion" - you mean what the local teams want you to say/promote?

  13. Grant wouldn't have his job if it wasn't for his dad who is a grumpy old man

  15. I have not watched too many of the shows of late, but Lowell has always been my favorite sports guy. Maybe I like the New York sarcasim and like his takes. As far as Grant, he knows football pretty well and he is entertaining and knowledgeable. He does flip flop his opinions.

  16. Grant's nickname is Pennywise. He brings nothing to his coverage of the Niners and he wants to see them lose. Did you see Deebo blow him off when he asked "How's the hamstring?" Hillarious! The Niners DO NOT like you Grant.

  17. The best sportswriter in the Chronicle/Examiner era was Art Spander. Cohn was good, but no comparison.
