Tuesday PM Short; Burkhart Debuts on KCBS; Escapes KGO; Bell's Last Day Thursday; Circle7 Buzz Talk

TUESDAY EVENING

Bret Burkhart made his formal debut on KCBS last week--sparingly.

Today, he filled in (as thousands of others have) on the KCBS midday (10- 2 PM) news block and sounded, well, his "wow" self. You can do that escaping the Cumulus abyss (KGO) and crossing the street on Battety to new and improving wasteland, Audacy's alleged all-news 740 AM/106.9 FM.

Burkhard sounded more relaxed and under no pressure as opposed to his frantic/uneven news gig at KGO in the early morning.

Between the whack-a-mole anchor policy instituted by the "we're not CBS" crew and Countess Jennifer Seeling's fraudulent governing, KCBS is a KGO in the making with slightly more Subway sandwich gift certificates.

To which I could hear Burkhart humming, "wow!"

*As I reported here, afternoon driver, Jeff Bell is the latest to leave KCBS--his last day is Thursday.

*There is MUCHO BUZZ at Circle7 up the street. Seems lots of rumors involving the prime diva news boss and a couple prime-air talent. Nothing but gossip but just enough to stir the pot at Disney/ABC7 where everyone, including you, can stand tall and build a better Bay Area.

  1. Brett has no idea how bad things are at KCBS but anything beats the dreck that substitutes for the once prestigious KGO. If he were older, he’d probably would retire but I’m
sure he wants to squeeze out a few more years in a dying industry. Audacy pays newcomers the kind of salaries on-air folks were making at SF stations back in 1990. Audacy, like Cumulus is a clueless company run by dolts, bean counters, ‘consultants’ and loud obnoxious sales people. All have one thing in common; none know squat about radio. Count KGO-KNBR’s Lee Hammer and KCBS’s Jennifer Seibel among them. Both are twits who work on opposite sides of the street. . Neither are even qualified to run an ant’s piss cart around the inside of a Cheerio.

    1. They actually pay SAG-AFTRA scale. He was way above minimum scale at KGO and considering he left to avoid taking a pay cut, he'll be just fine.
