Yeah, I Agree, The 'Niners Are Fucking Stupid'; Monday First Take

Every known sports and non-sports pundit/reporter will give their opinion on Monday. The radio talk-show experts will tell you exactly why the 49ers; notably the brain trust; owner/front man, Jed York; GM Trent Baalke, and Team President, Paraag Marathe finally sent superstar coach, Jim Harbaugh, packing.

I'm no Insider --I'm just a sad-sack blogger with endless broken hearts and think in terms of basic human mindset; you may be the most talented fucker in the world, but you're no good to your company if you can't get along with the people you work with/for; that's not me ripping into Harbaugh; quite the contrary, I think the 49ers hierarchy is plain nuts for not trying to play nice with their now, ex, superstar coach. As Deadspin points out, and I agree, The Niners are Fucking Stupid. Or, to put it more precisely:

There is no sane football-related reason for the Niners to let Harbaugh leave. Apparently, they're letting Harbaugh go simply because he was so insufferable to deal with, which … fine. I get why you might wear out after having Captain Jawclench as the head man for four years. But this man is a football coach, and football coaches are, by their very nature, insufferable. They work endless hours. They are humorless and often distant and aloof. They are endlessly demanding. Only a batshit crazy person would thrive in that job, and so Jim Harbaugh fits into the mold nicely. I don't know what other temperament you would like out of a head coach. What, you want him to be less intense? Fine; watch him get run over.

Lowell Cohn: 'Jed York is a Coward'; 49ers Owner Tweet Draws Ire of Press-Democrat Writer

Lowell Cohn throws a hardball at Jed York. Whether you agree or disagree is besides the point. It's the content, stupid.

I watched the 49ers game last night after the meal and couldn't believe my eyes. Were these really the 49ers; granted, they were playing the World Champions, but the Seahawks made the 49ers look silly.

And then after the game, Jed and his tweet.

I heard a lot and sensed there might be a hardy reaction from the local press. Nothing was quite as extraordinary was Cohn's scathing review of owner York. That's what I like about Lowell, always willing and able to swing for the fences. Lowell is spectacular here, just my opinion.

Colin Kaepernick Doesn't Hate The Media, Just The SF Media; Fox Makes Hard Pitch For Bay Area Station; KGO Radio; KCBS Re-Run Orgy Has Become Major Irritant; Tuesday Rundown

Colin Kaepernick doesn't dislike media people, just most of the sports media here in the Bay Area. He's done numerous interviews and several out-of-SF-market radio and TV shows.

I'm not defending the 49ers prickly QB image as a prima donna --he very well could be but watching and listening to him he seems like a natural guy with a tremendous story to tell, most notably, his upbringing as an adopted child.

He doesn't like the media culture here and who can blame him. Outside of a few writers like a Lowell Cohn, (who is one of his biggest critics), or Scott Ostler, (one writes and blogs for the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat and the other, the same, for the SF Chronicle), our sports medium here is largely a bunch of rank amateurs and softies from Pluto with not an ounce of conviction nor a residue of knowledge befitting a #4-market.

Said one of my insiders who has a firm grasp of what comes in and out of the 49ers headquarters in Santa Clara:

Colin thinks the local media types are petty and immature. He's not averse to answering good, solid questions but have you heard what they ask him? It's like, hey, get me something to talk about; be coherent, don't pander to me, just ask the damn question.

The fact of the matter is Kaepernick is right. Moreover, Kap's terse, one-sentence answers speaks volumes about his feelings toward the Bay Area media. He doesn't owe them anything. And truth be told, the fans don't really give a damn about the media anyway, never have--never will. His obligation is to his team and the organization. If he wins the Super Bowl, that's all they care about and that makes perfect sense.

*Fox desperately wants to buy a SF station --we've talked about this here many times, so their continued, hardy pursuit of, potentially, KRON, or KTVU continues to make the rounds. Why so desperate? Because as you just saw that 111 million people watched the Super Bowl and how the NFL is king, that's why. Beyond that, Fox isn't thrilled with its KTVU affiliation because of how KTVU has been performing of late.  An irony: Cox Media, which owns KTVU is also less than pleased either, but KTVU is Cox' cash cow. Before any real deal were to transpire there exists a multitude of issues, money is not one of them. Stay tuned.

*Schmucks who insist KGO Radio will be all-news are in for a big surprise but I'm not going into the specifics yet because there's too much to go over...for now. If the news/company shill weasel  that everybody hates in the building has thoughts of writing one of his brown-nose ditties to me, he can cease and desist. He has no cred and when you suck a lot of Cumulus hot air, you're not one of my sergeants. Take a hike, copy boy.

*I'm beginning to think I'm not alone with my disgust with KCBS' ridiculous replay-after-replay of story--it has simply reached a point where 10 repeats of one story on one day insults its listeners. Don't give me the TSL excuse or some phony policy--KCBS is great for breaking news and traffic but its rerun deal is one helluva pain in the ass and has me listening more to outside sources or going to the Internet.

Your Annual 'What The Hell is Amy G Doing On SF Giants TV' Post From The Neurotic Blogger

Really, I thought, Amy Gutierrez, ("Amy G") is too easy to bitch and moan about because she's, well, Amy G and what more can be said about the utter cluelessness that IS Amg G and more specifically, Amy G doing Amy G on Giants Comcast telecasts but since the season is over for the Giants, I felt compelled to bitch and moan about the Amester because that's what I do here.

Keep in mind I know the Giants have to have an Amy G --seems all big sports teams need a house organ only Amy has been getting more painful to watch and therefore the need to get out my Amy G is a pain-in-the-ass post is way past due.

Don't call me a woman basher. I've been in Amy G's camp not too long ago--I get that her gig is basically a shout-out to the booster club and that she's Larry Baer's good-luck charm, really I get that.

It's just the voice. The damn nasal, sweetly voice. Kruk and Kuip's exciting, (sure,) Let's go down to Amy G in section 110 and then Amy G does Amy G. Priceless sometimes because I get the feeling Amy doesn't know how many of us cringe when her reports begin and end,...well, when they end, a momentary glee sets in until the next Amy G moment is beckoning.  OK, fine, I know the voice she has no control over and I'm hip that she's not Dana Bash in front of the White House portico giving us updates on ObamaCare  and government shutdowns, again, get it.

Yet this is supposedly a big market. #6 to be exact. There was a time that even the idea of an Amy G even smelling a microphone would have caused some of the local pine to have hemorrhoids. It might be a generational thing. I doubt the Amy G phenomena would have evolved if the Giants were still at Candlestick. I don't think the fan base back then could tolerate an Amy G. Amy G represents Giants 2.0 The old crew were more Christianne Amanpour. They were grunge-central. Amy G is more Old Navy.

Amy G, I'm told, is a swell woman. Nice lady. Cool. She's probably a delight over a tuna and rye at Perry's and she's damn well important. Hell, they gave her a ring! I just hope she knows the people in Section 110 don't necessarily represent the mosh pit inside Pete's Tavern. OK, and now I. AM. outta. here.

Warriors Radio 'Game' Changer; Sports Media Notes; Monday Quick Start

SPORTS MEDIA NOTES MONDAY--

The Bay Area is basketball nirvana. Good for the Warriors to take center stage and capture the region with a bunch of terrific players and all nice guys too.

*When you win and become the center of attention, you tend to look at a lot of things...like media placement. The Warriors have never been thrilled with their 'little-sisters-of-the-poor'-status on KNBR. Being that the Giants control the entire KNBR/Cumulus 680 AM domain, the Warriors have been largely confined to 1050 AM, Knibber's sloppy second. Sunday night was a rare exception for the playoffs. But keep in mind the team is usually home this time of year and prime radio real estate hasn't been an issue. Hell, even the 49ers are OK with it and just re-upped with Knib for another 10 years. They acknowledge the station's 50,000-watt, (680 AM) power source and the fact, for better or worse, KNBR's sports brand, it's talk shows, mediocre or otherwise, help promote their clients. It's a winning combination. Ask the Giants.

That said, the Warriors, who have a billion-dollar new arena destined for the SF waterfront in about 5-6 years, (figure a decade), want their own radio schedule. They're done with being second and third-class convicts from the prison farm and their contract is up. (contract runs through 2015).

Enter 95.7 FM, 'The Game', Entercom's all-sports FM property with a cacophony of mostly empty talk show hosts but with a growing legion of sports fans who dread KNBR and are willing to listen to anything but the earwigs at 55 Hawthorne.

The Game is the flagship radio station of the Oakland A's and just got the Raiders. They don't have a particularly strong signal and in some parts of the Bay Area, you can't hear their air. But they have enough corporate juice and they're not the SF Giants and Larry Baer's kitchenette.

Enter the Warriors.

There's already enough schmoozing going on between the station's execs and Joe Lacoub and company, the new W's owners. Clearly the team wants its own home, more importantly, they want their brand to have its own identity and don't like being on 1050. It helps, too, that the Warriors are winning. Pro basketball has always been big here but now that the Golden ones are gracing the inner sanctum of TNT and Chuck Barkley land and ESPNville, all the more ammo for working for a deal to get better radio treatment.

*NOTES....

Tim Roye and Tom Tolbert have been superb on the Warriors radio broadcasts...Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda are the only reason I watch and listen to hockey.
