Oh, should be a fun day. Can't wait for the brigade.

OK, fire away. No subject is off the table. I want compelling questions and I shall do my best to provide compelling answers because I'm a compelling sort of guy.

No morons, please. (Fat chance).

Detour on the porterhouse steak dinner--instead opted for Chinese. Yung Kee saves the night. Kung Pao chicken for everyone.

GAME ON!

Saturday ritual from the 415; Q and A; readers gripes, swipes

I like to talk a lot. Surprise. But most of the time, I get it right, and those of you who follow this space know my track record. A few hits and misses along the way, (I had the exclu that Gillette would be the first company that would split from Tiger) but I also blew it on Radnich, (sort of) remaining at KRON, although his new deal is being described as a "pennies of the dollar" contract.

Bottom line is, to some degree, I've struck a chord and people are reading this site, particularly industry peeps, and since I'm getting a lot of e-mail, I know just how many of you look forward to my various insights, observations, and yes, rants and general reports too.

Today begins a new segment of the report; reader questions and answers. I don't claim to know everything, (how shocking) but I do have a pretty good gauge on a few things out of the local market and beyond.

So, I'm asking those of you who have questions, send them to me and I'll answer them as honest as possible. Simple enough, right?

**What's going to happen at KRON? How can they survive?-- George P, San Rafael.

Right now, KRON is day-to-day. They are doing it on limited resources being that their owner, Young Broadcasting, declared Chapter 11 almost a year ago and their newsroom has extremely limited financial resources. I like to use this analogy: KRON is a "toxic asset"; in short, if they were a regular business, they'd be shut down, but because they are a TV station in the countries 4th biggest market, (SF-Oak-SJ) their creditors allow them to operate and have assumed their awesome debt load. Sooner or later, that debt load situation has to be resolved. My best guess is that eventually, someone, some company will buy KRON and start all over. But for now, continue to enjoy lots and lots of infomercials, Henry Tennanbaum's pimping and KRON's attempt to put a newscast on a daily basis. Oh, don't forget, at least you have Darya Folsom and 57 different weather people.

**Will Comcast buy KRON? Steven B, Berkeley--

NO. The FCC has a regulation that a company cannot buy another broadcast outlet in the same market. This rumor has been around for a long time, but for now, it simply can't happen. I'm sure Comcast would love it and they most certainly have the cash, but for now, nada.

**Whatever happened to Van Amburg, late of KGO/Channel 7? Bart P, SF--

Last I heard, he's living in El Ceritto, retired. I tried mightily to get in contact to him for an interview and was ignored. Hey, if my mother can ignore me, Van can too.

**Did you turn on Damon Bruce (KNBR)? You hardly mention him anymore. Gordon D, Foster City

No, not at all. Funny, people thought I was in his back-pocket. I have stated here that I think Bruce is very good, but not as good as he thinks. He is the only KNBR guy, other than Ralph Barbieri, that isn't afraid to be critical of the Warriors and Giants. OK, maybe Radnich once and a while will rip, but Gary's become way too complacent, but that's another story...My problems with Damon are semi-personal. He seems to have forgot that I'm the only guy that highlighted his work. I had predicted for a while that they were priming him to go to the daytime, but I think his niche is at night on the post game shows; oh, except for Giants games.
