Hey, Don't Call Me a Misogynist Because I Like Looking at Pretty Female TV News Anchors; Lunch Time Crawl

I'M SUPPOSED to feel guilty because it's a crime to say I enjoy watching, for the most part, good-looking women anchors on both local and non-local TV and Sports News; I've broached this subject before noting that TV is a visual medium.

I don't label it sexist because the powers-that-be put beautiful women on the air for a reason. They're looking for more eyeballs.

Is it equally sexist that Raj Mathai is on the air because he has GQ looks? Well, yes and no. Raj happens to be a decent TV News anchor; it helps though he's considered a good-looking man.

I marvel at the beauty of Cheryl Hurd but she's a terrific reporter too; I don't see anything wrong for complimenting her look.

I'm pretty consistent too.

Yet there still exists a wide group of people, many of whom are women, who say I'm a misogynist --I think that's ridiculous.

A misogynist doesn't vote for Hillary Clinton; a misogynist is not pro women's right; a misogynist doesn't open doors for women and buy them expensive shoes when he dated a great woman he met in Atlanta a few years ago.

Am I to be scolded for my appreciation of Ama Daetz?

Goodness knows the woman looks like a Halle Berry clone. She happens to read the news. And I watch because she's a good reader and gorgeous journalist.

I'm being sexist? I don't think so.

What I do think is that I'm being human and saying the obvious that beautiful anchors are noticed.

Cecilia Vega gets NOTICED. She's smart as a whip, has a great presence on screen and is a damn good anchor. Have I said anything wrong here? I don't think so and if I did, I'd love to know why.

You get my drift.

I'm late today --sorry, I'll be back soon with more in-depth material.

Meanwhile, enjoy your lunch.

  2. Your obsession with attractive female broadcasters is pathetic and childish. Doesn't say much about the readers you are trying to attract either.

    1. So, no male anchors you think are attractive?

  3. I don't think you have to apologize Rich. I've based my choice of which local news to watch on which one had the most attractive anchors/reports since I was a teenager.

However I am the same age as you. The younger generations are more sensitive and more likely to be offended by our attitude. I think it is biology, they think it is misogyny.

  4. You posted her photo, but didn't actually mention Elizabeth Cook of KPIX who looks great and sound good, too. I appreciate watching and listening to her telecast on Channel 5's evening news.

I do have several others I like whether they're on the morning, afternoon, evening, or nightly news. I suspect we all have our favorites.

  5. 1:13...Fox (cable) has an obsession with attractive female broadcasters also. That's the reason they are #1 in the ratings for the last 18 years.

I'm very surprised you would use the word "broadcasters," that is pathetic and childish. Why are you using that word, don't you respect women!!

Men's obsession with attractive women goes back to the beginning of time.

What? "Doesn't say much about the readers you are trying to attract," he attracted you!!

So with one post you shoot yourself in the foot "twice," congratulations! That's your "I Are Stupid" for the month.

To all the "beautiful" women we have reporting the News, I salute you all!! You are a pleasure to watch and the News without you would not be the News...you are the News!!

    1. No one talks about the Spanish Stations. They are famously known for their women wearing low cut, tight, tight, tight clothing.

  6. I think Michelle Griego is one of the most beautiful women in Bay Area TV and a competent anchor. But you never have much good to say about her

      Bill probably did.

  7. I believe you have also criticized KTVU's Heather Holmes for some of her trashy outfits. That doesn't sound like a misogynist to me.

  8. Why does Jessica Castro cake on the makeup when she is anchoring and looks normal when she is not? Such a pretty face that is mangled by all that makeup.

  9. I could care less what a newscaster looks like. Just provide me with quality info. Fallon Smith is nice to look at, but her screaming and annoying voice has me tuning out anytime she's on. Maybe that's why she was just fired.

I don't care about the looks... just gimme good info with a smooth voice... the same way I judge radio.

    2. I could care less? Don't you mean couldn't care less? If you could care less then it means you care.

When was the last time anyone saw a dumpy weather woman? Maybe in Billings Montana but not here.

    3. 6:52- well as an old original expression "I could care less..." was in regular usage and the original implication that followed was "...but I don't." That part has been forgotten and people started using the "couldn't care less" instead.

  10. Rich, I don't think it's who/what you single out, it's how you express yourself in your comments. It's creepy in a lot of the cases. To admire and comment on an attractive woman is a delicate thing and you need to be sensitive to that in this day and age.

This is not a Mickey Spillane novel regardless of what hat you wear.

  11. Some people wake up looking for their daily outrage, always the extreme left trash. My beef is you admit to voting for the career grifter. The shame!

  12. You are a sexually-frustrated (perhaps never sexually-broken in) misogynist (kudos that you spelled it right) male, but be that as it may (you're far from alone), you neglect the two hottest TV news personalities in the Bay Area: Sandhya Patel and Neda Iranpour.

  14. Call me old fashioned but I want nothing more then news. Honest truthfull straight forward news, no spin, no ommitting or adding "facts" to push an agenda. Male or female, just the best person for the job. Professional, thats the best look for television news.

  15. I agree but dont forget Lisa Argen (kgo) or even Mabrisa Rodriguez (kron) too...

    1. Lisa Argen? With her widow's peak and bony body and whiney voice that sounds suitable for teaching kindergarten? Are you that hard up?

    2. Lisa Argen reminds me of someone who majored in Elementary Ed and believe me, I knew tons of them in college. I almost married one.

  16. The most beautiful female anchor not on Fox is Norah O'Donnell...and by a big margin. Margaret Brennan is in the top 10.

  17. Mike Mibach is sexy. I'll watch him any old time.

Ken Wayne was sexy while he sported a beard for a few minutes (before, I presume, Fox told him to shave it off). I'd watch him any old time if he grew it back.

Bay Area TV is too top-heavy (the perfect term if I say so myself) with babes and pretty much zero beefcake. Hell, I'd even watch the sports segment if a hunk like Channing Tatum was hosting it.

Anybody who says viewers don't watch news based on who is delivering it isn't being truthful with themselves.
