5 Things on New KGO Anchor Dion Lim

Image result for dion lim kgo 1. The Voice will drive me batty ...I hope to God it's something she's intentionally doing to sound more important --PLEASE, Ms. Dion Lim, for the Grace of God, STOP IT!

2. I've been told she's a really nice lady and that's great but if she doesn't stop the fake, concerned look after almost every story, somebody is going to seriously bitch-slap her and she then won't be so darn nice.

3. Dion, you don't have to smile every minute. I assume you have at least a few years here therefore just read the teleprompter and move forward.

4. I'm not saying you're dumb and don't know a few things about sports, but don't look as if you're really ticked after Larry Beil ends his sportscast with "another tough day for the 'Niners."

5. Stay Clear of the Morning Show; if they ask you if you have any interest tell them it's against your religion to get up before 5 ...seriously, there's a bit of Voodoo on that set.

  1. A few years, nooooo!! Beam me up Scotty! Your description is perfect, push yourself away from your computer, stand up and take a bow! I'll buy you all the beer you can drink. Love the 415.

  2. Do you want instant insanity? Pair her with Da Lin. The Asian community will go positively bonkers over this, and rightfully so. But even they may roll their eyes over her and Da's report delivery.

  3. Wondered how long it would take you to talk about her voice. She’s been driving me batty since the first day. Enough already!

  4. Finally Rich is stepping in to say something. I am already sick of listening to her voice and seeing her funny looks and that big big big smile. Her voice sounds like she is from Texas. Her funny looks is what I dislike her. When she does not smile, her lips mouth gesture looks very sad resemble there is either something wrong with her teeth or lips where she needs to smile. And, add on one a smurky weird look on every story. Also, I don't understand why she has to turn her head sideways when she talks. She looks more beautiful than Kristen, but Kristen has the natural voice and humor except stealing the show sometimes. For Dion, below my expectations. One more thing, she should spend some time looking for some new dresses on TV, I notice she is wearing the same red dress all the time. My suggestion, Dan Ashley can just do the reporting himself without any help to show his strong professionalism and trusted news.

  5. Rich I usually agree with you but I'm a big of Dion Lim fan since she started her stint at KGO!

  6. You should hear her laugh...not sure if there are any videos of the 4 o'clock news yesterday when Larry said "ass" instead of "ice" and Dion's laugh is $%#@%.

Rich, I hope there is a way to get a tape of this...

  7. I too, am a huge fan of hers. For being a new anchor in the Bay Area, she is spot on and an absolute pro!!

  8. I started glancing at 415 when KGO went belly up. Never had much opportunity to watch SF TV news til a couple of weeks ago. Rich what gives.Watching all the newscasts is like looking at channel 25 in Waco. Major market? Give me a break. Time to move on. Bye all.

  9. Who watches KGO-TV? I sure don't.

  10. Your comments on Dion Lim are spot-on. She is irritating on many levels and you captured all of the levels. She somehow manages to smile at sad, upsetting stories. Please somebody show her the door. Buh-bye.

  11. Rich, I realize what I am about to rant about has little or nothing to do with Bay Area media, but I hope that POS turd radio host (out of Boston) Michael Felger doesn't ever step foot in either Toronto or Philadelphia for those incendiary remarks he made about the late Roy Halliday. Because if he does he might not live to regret it. Claiming Halliday "had it coming" and "didn't deserve to live" and then calling him a "moron" is about as low and despicable as another human being can get, next to molestation, rape or murder. I hope this clown is fired from 98.5 The Sports Hub and is blackballed from ever working in radio again.

  12. I first learned about Dion when you made your post in the spring about her. I recognized her in public a few months ago and went up and said hi. She is as friendly and genuine as they come. She made time to ask about my life and how I liked the Bay Area etc. Very sweet person and I wish the best for her!

  13. Jesus fuKKKing KKKrist, people...mad because she's not some blonde bimbo?

I work here at KGO...I don't know how or why you folKKKs have a problem with her delivery. She sure as hell sounds and looks professional to me (and to practically every one of my co-workers).

On top of that...Dion is an absolute sweetheart...a real gem of a person. Even the grizzled disillusioned veterans grudgingly like her. Hell, even some of the resident Divas (who were bypassed by her hired) seem to get along with her.

    1. KKK? Ok snowflake, you used 1 of the 3 catchphrases your generation throws around like candy. Feel cool now? I am going to love the day in a few years where that shit loses all of its power because of overuse.

The Chinese would call you a baizuo.

  15. ABC needs to replace whomever it is that makes their hiring decisions. They have terrible taste in women. I am embarrassed for my own sex. I turn both of them off. Am watching KPIX much more often. Both Dion and Natasha are plastic and phony. I am sure they are very nice and in the case of Dion, probably knowledgeable, but cut the theatrics. Not good for women in general. Relax ladies.

    1. I follow Dion's career over social medial and she has done so much volunteer and charitable work outside of the newsroom. She seems to touch so many people by having this platform. I hope my daughter grows up to be "phony" like Dion one day too then!

  16. Dion is okay, but Katie Marzullo would have been a natural choice to co-anchor with Eric on the weekends as she did before she was bumped by Donnie and Marie when she took personal time off for her dad.

  17. I am involved with the organization Best Buddies and I worked with Dion over the summer at the Best Buddies national conference at Indiana University. My colleague sent me this post and I am saddened and shocked to read all these hateful comments. Dion cares, she truly cares about helping people and donating her time. She truly cares about empowering these children with IDD. She traveled on her own dime to Indiana and participated in the workshops and gave an unbelievable speech to the thousands of children there. She talked about being bullied as a child and the adversity she has faced in television. These kids truly look up to her and it was amazing to see the love and appreciation on both sides. Can anyone with a high position in media do the same thing? Yes. Can any ceo or president of a company do this? Yes. But how many of them actually do? Maybe more than I think, I am not sure. I just know that Dion does.
I am not here to tell you you can’t have an opinion about someone. Next time you are about to post something negative or say something negative in person please look a little deeper. You may think you know someone from only watching them on tv a few times but do you truly know what their path and journey has been about?

  18. Ok I will say something positive, she makes me appreciate Kristen Sze even more.

She sounds like a great person but your explanation has "zero" to do with her on air performance, that's what we see. She needs a major realignment!

  19. That morning show has Scientology written all over it.

  20. She's so bad. Very fake. Not bay are. Even if she's nice, she shouldn't be a weekend anchor.

Changing the change, better options out there

  21. Rich I agree completely with you. I kept thinking she would calm down with the weird intensity of voice, her constant smiling and that horrible fake laugh not to mention her constant "fawning look over" to her mail co-anchor. [do they tell the women to do that -- it is disgusting !!!] For the past few WE with Eric Thomas I noticed most of the pieces were given to her so I assume KGO is pushing her ?? Someone just needs to tell her to knock off all the fake delivery modes and maybe she'll be ok. One more thing her complete ignorance of Bay Area sports teams --- whatz up with that ?? Bring on Katie Marzullo please !

  22. Rich provided exactly what I was hoping to find on line after hearing Ms. Lim's voiceover in a teaser for tonight's 11 PM news. I could deal with this if she was only anchoring on the weekends, but now she's sitting in for Ama Dates, who is on maternity leave. Ama, please, hurry back!

Rich pointed out everything that I find irritating about Lim's delivery. I can't stand it. On par with Dave Clark on KTVU/2 in the morning. I like KTVU's newscasters best because they're entirely professional, but they blew it when they brought Dave in. I stopped watching before I hit the road in the morning, and wasn't at all surprised to find out he was hired away from a second-tier station in Los Angeles.

Lim comes off like a kindergarten teacher telling a story. It insults my intelligence. I stopped listening to "Talk of the Nation" on KQED FM because host Neal Conan sounded the same way. I don't miss him or his show. Maybe somebody at NPR found him annoying and gave him the boot.

My opinions have nothing to do with race or gender and everything to do with professionalism, as theatrics, canned facial expressions and sensationalism have no place in professional journalism.

Lim seems like a nice person, but she needs to tone it down. I've stopped watching KGO's newscasts since she's nearly unavoidable.

I know someone who worked with Katie Marzullo at a station on the Central Coast. She's a go-getter and highly professional. Let's hope KGO's misguided and petty management team finally gets a clue and gives her a position as a daily anchor.

Right now, between nice guy Dan Ashley's hair and Lim's theatrics, I can't watch KGO news.
