Flash! Drex OUT at KGO Radio

 He gone!

As I've speculated here before.

Now who is the replacement? Thurston or Rothmann? Let the countdown begin.

  1. Hasn't Drex had a lot of medical issues?

  2. Like Chip says...
Be happy to have KGO on your resume/demo tape.

    1. Now that "Drecks" is gone, can we hope for the disappearance of his yappy sidekick? She has the voice of a chihuahua and clearly loves to hear herself. Grating, that one...

  3. We can't do better than that list of replacements?

    1. They should change the call letters from KGO to CNN.

    2. I don't think I'll be listening if either takes over.

If I wanted the Clinton news network I'd watch CNN.

    3. IF you want an authority on how partisan politics works or presidential history, you could find no better host than John. Pat appeals to the bernie types, and despises Hillary Clinton. Get your facts straight.

    4. In the end Pat will be supporting Hitlery just like John. It's all lip service. You're not as smart as you think.

    5. hmmmm welll I'm not claiming to be "as smart as I think", I'm merely telling you what was stated on the air. Thurston thinks Hillary is a corporate whore that she could never vote for and has stated this many times over many months. John Rothman was a political intern for Richard Nixon( you get to be political interns...like monica lewinsky..when your family gives big bucks to the campaign commmittees for the parties. John is schooled in republican and democratic politics ( a big contributor) and is an expert on them. Did you not know this? Perhaps you don't hear as well as you think?

  4. Hallelujah. Good move for KGO Radio. I don't wish DreX any ill will; I hope his health improves and that he finds another job, but it probably shouldn't be as a talk show host. That just did not work out. I've been listening a lot more lately, since DreX has been away and Pat Thurston and John Rothmann have been filling in. I really hope that one of them gets the 7pm-10pm weekday time slot. Better yet, put Pat in at 7pm and ditch John Batchelor and put John in from 10pm-1am. Or if that can't be done, move Chip Franklin to weekends and put either Pat or John in at 4pm and the other one in at 7pm. That would improve KGO considerably.

    1. Please, no. A good TSHost does not need a supporting act. And Pat needs to dial back her serious case of belly-laugh syndrome, (BLS). But I agree that anything would be better than Drekz and his Chihuahua.

  7. It about time! I've been listening everytime Pat or John or both are on and it's great radio once again. Please KGO listen to your listeners (for once) and put Pat or John in this time slot. The ratings will soar.

  8. 7-10 is perfect for rothman, not the ex army/secret service girl. remember lee rodgers? good, but conservative.

  9. Spencer Hughes sits and stares at his cell phone, waiting for a call from his 'old friends' at KGO. He's fishing with his brightest lures, but so far, the fish, they aint bitin'.

    1. Does he work cheap enough? I'm thinking they're looking for people willing to Do 3 hours a day for FAR, FAR LESS than $100,000/year.

  10. I wonder if any of the cloud-people, in Atlanta, are sorry that they went through with the whole 2011 "blood bath," in the first place.

If that's the case ... WE TOLD YOU SO!!

    1. Huge mistake. Right off the back the ratings dropped in half. They've dropped another 1/3rd of that the last few years no matter what they try to do. Listeners have tuned out and aren't coming back.

  11. Younger people aren't going to listen to AM radio. Period. I learned that from Disney.

    1. I know; that's why I feel that DreX was not a successful talk show host. He mostly talked about things that might appeal to younger people. I can see him in an FM radio morning drive type show for a music station that younger people like, but that's about it. Most people who listen to AM talk radio are middle-aged or older. We want to hear about politics and current affairs, not reality shows and dating apps. DreX was just too juvenile and shallow for KGO's core audience. Well, those of us who are left...

    2. I think 3:49 was referring to the Mike McVay video snippet that was on here several months ago. The Disney reference above was probably Disney's failing in Radio Disney, trying to appeal to young mothers on AM radio. At least Disney was able to escape by selling their stations, mostly for a tiny fraction of their purchase price. Capital loss.

  12. When Chip is gone Kevin Metheny's great legacy will be over. Good riddance.

  13. The Lawya is still avialable.

    Not Karel; please.

John should get a full time slot.

Hopefully Chippy is next on the chopping block.

  14. Put the Lawya on after Ronnnn at 12p like the old days. Give him 2 hours instead of 1 mabe. Better than that Ethan dude. Tired of right wingers all over the dial. Oh and BTW, dump A & G @ 6am. Tired of Hillary bashing for 4 hours. Go back to the news or a test signal.

  15. Big surprise? NOT!

  16. Chip is a Randall Bloomquist/Renee Bakos Legacy...Don't blame Kevin for that. Franklin is Low Rent. Should have never been hired. But that's what you get when the Boss is Boinking his assistant....Gives new meaning to the term "Working Under Someone"

  18. The once best radio station in the Bay area has been ruined by someone. I grew up with KGO be listening to it for 40 years period but now I barely listen and it's all the stations fault. And I know a hundred other people that are in the exact same boat
