The Ronn/Laura Owens Saga --Why I'm Done

  1. Rich, I respect that you feel you don't have the resources or bandwidth to report on this story in-depth, but I think you do have unique perspective and insight to share if you decide to keep discussing it - not only because of your history with Ronn, but also because you are one of very few (if any) journalists to talk to him and Jan in-depth about this situation recently. Were your phone calls with them this week completely off the record? If not, would you be able to share more details about what, exactly they told you - and why you found it convincing - perhaps in an interview with one of the online journalists who've been covering this case for the past year + ? I'm sure they'd be happy to have you on their platforms, some of which are quite large.

  2. Rich, you don’t owe anyone an explanation for why you choose not to cover certain topics. You’re not an investigative journalist, a detective, or a private investigator. You have no obligation to discuss anything you don’t want to. If people want more facts or discourse about the Ronn Owens story, there are plenty of forums and resources online where they can find what they’re looking for.

    1. Totally agree. People complaining Rich isn’t still talking about this are free to do their own research and record their own YouTube videos, talking about all the things they want Rich to talk about.

  3. Ask Laura to reimburse Ronn on legal bills he ADMITS to pay for.

  4. Stop calling the legal system the opposition! She was fined by the court for about $150k for filing a fraudulent law suit against Clayton. There is no other version of the story.

  5. This is not our lesson to learn. We did what we could. We know the truth and we watch the lessons many are going to learn.

  6. Lieberman isn’t done with this, not a chance.

  7. Hello Rich, you can't see that Laura appears to be a whack job?

  8. Rich, Your choice - your blog. But sometimes no one else will know or have the guts to tell the truth about what is really going on. You don't have that issue. Good job.

  9. Not to judge but maybe Jan & Ronn should teach their daughter about promiscuity and having unprotected sex without protection or using the morning after pill. Also this has happened 4 times with 4 different men. If she's going to use "autism" as an excuse maybe she should stop being intimate with one night stands. I knwo you all thought it... Not victim blaming but who's the same person involved in each situation. I hope she gets the help she needs.

  10. Rich, the fact people would question Ronn's motives for the GFM says a lot about HIM.

  11. Yes Rich, you're right - the donated money will go to cover health costs, which in turn allows them "potentially" to spend their other resources on legal costs for their daughter - its still highly unethical to take from gofundme donors and gofundme should not give them the money until they get to the bottom of it. Will you please find out if this plead for healthcare donations allows them to preserve their money for legal costs or gambling debt ? Please find out Rich - Please - I trust you which is why I come to you for information.

    1. So you have no problem defaming someone because you are "anonymous"? It's pretty basic.. IF you want to help Ronn, do so. If you don't, don't.

  13. The way I see it, the daughter Laura probably has no money to pay the judgement due soon. No job and likely broke I presume, living with and probably supported financially by her parents. If Ronn truly needs the GoFundMe for his medical care, who will pay Laura’s amount due under the judgement? I am no lawyer but I would have advised Rich not to be talking for hours to Ronn and his wife and putting that he had such long conversations on the record for his YouTube. Something is not seeming “Kosher” here as someone said. Some GoFundMe contributor(s) will probably someday sue if things are not right here.

  14. It's simple. If you want to help Ronn and family, donate.. Everything else is gobble de gook.

  15. What ever happened to Ronn’s girlfriend? I’d like to get some of that.

  16. @7:44 - Agreed. Especially when it's "The Lamont Show" that everybody's talking about. Oh, and Cumulus and Bonneville are going to be flat mates.

  17. From Ronn's GFM, 1st he big times everyone with the photos, then this, direct quotes:
This GoFundMe is an opportunity for us to give back to the man who gave us 48 incredible years of radio
Let’s come together to support a Bay Area legend and remind Ronn that his community stands with him, just as he stood with us all those years.

He can help himself, he needs to remind you all that you are nothing but peasants, and that you owe him.
Well, to quote Ronn, "the show must go on", and not my with my money!

  18. The GFM is pure grift, unfortunately. I am very empathetic to Ronn’s health struggles; however these funds will ultimately pay Laura Owens’ legal fees and settlement.
