This is a good call. The only question is how much control would Belichick want. If he wants more draft/personnel control, then John Lynch would be on the hot seat. Belichick could also bring in Josh McDaniels to run the offense. Even if Belichick isn't the guy, the Niners probably need to move on from Shanahan.
The Niners will eventually move on from the S&L show when the product on the field fails to deliver. It IS Failing. Year In Year Out the Chiefs deliver, often with new cast members. Odd how the genius of play making seems to drive away talent.
I don't think Belichick is a good match for York, but I do agree with your core take that KNBR and Papa are terrible. They are a bunch of irrelevant homers and no one cares about their terrible takes. The ratings tell the whole story.
Shanahan and Lynch are going nowhere. They are among the best in the NFL. Making the Super Bowl is huge accomplishment. They have no control over the rash of injuries this year.
Glad you asked.. Yes, take a listen to Greg Silver now with Papa 10-2. Pompous young guy with weird voice intonations like his sportswriter dad and frequent KNBR guest Mike who got him the job. Greg Silver has his own segments too, including cringeworthy ones like involving his supposedly favorite rap. If that does not take the cake, listen to Copes and Papa’s son Derek 2-6 but I suggest you drink heavily to numb your senses.
The 49ers situation is like that for the SF Giants. They kept the wrong people in charge far too long like Farhan.. Why is Baer still involved in operations there though?
Completely different. Giants had the wrong GM who brought together a bunch of players with no chemistry. Niners have a good GM and top players who played in the Superbowl this year. They took a step back this year, but they're still a top team when healthy.
I agree with 9:02. Changes will definitely be made. The 49ers need an offensive coordinator. Enough is enough! Kyle gets too overwhelmed in being both the head coach and the play caller. Only a few of them can do it with any success (Andy Reid) and he’s not one of them. He becomes way to conservative and predictable in times of need … He needs to hand it off to somebody else now. They also need to get rid of a few coaches. The defensive (his week to week schemes are vanilla) coordinator, Brandon Staley, (his assistance with the defense this season has sucked) and last but not least the special (hasn’t been good in years, YEARS!) teams coach needs to go as well ..

ReplyDeleteYup, couldn't agree more

ReplyDelete@ 9:02 You're illogical, kyle is still a bad coach and lynch can't draft strong players

DeleteShanahan has had 8 seasons at the helm and has proven many times he can't win the big games. He's better suited as a coach, but not a head coach.
DeleteInstead of Belichick, I'd like to see Pete Carroll take over for Shanahan. Pete is an SF native and has familiarity with the NFC West.
ReplyDeleteTime flies. Kyle is in his 8th season as 9ers HC. Jim Harbaugh only had 4 seasons before he was fired. It's time to move on from Kyle.
ReplyDeleteIs KNBR still on the air? How is that possible? Perhaps it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kars4Kids?
