KCBS Earthquake Coverage Unintentionally Hilarious --Guiness/Shafer NOT ...

  1. KCBS a total embarrassment to the San Francisco Bay Area. If this was a full on disaster KCBS was not the place you want to dial in. What a F&%$ing Mess!!!

  2. Guinness sounded stressed, but how does anyone prepare for tsunami coverage in a place without tsunamis?

    1. To Rich's point, having historical perspective is invaluable. While we could have faced a tsunami similar to the 2004 Indian Ocean disaster, history shows that in San Francisco, it's far more likely that such an event would amount to little, if anything at all. Yes, the warnings must be covered, but those who have experienced countless false alarms over the years tend to view them with a more pragmatic, history-based perspective. It is true, after all, that San Francisco has not experienced a massive tsunami in recorded history.

    2. The tectonic plate slip off of the coast of Sumatra generated such a massive displacement of water that it created 100ft waves which lasted over 7 hours! Imagine a wave halfway up the deck of the GGB. Over 250k lost. This is not the movie "San Andreas". The visuals were comically absurd. Problem: Non native idiots reporting to non native transplants. Let the hysteria begin! Always love to see the morons heading to the beach to "see the Big Wave". Same ass-wipes that go to Yellowstone and think its a good idea to taunt or pet "The furry big brown cow". Idiots! Darwin is calling on the white courtesy telephone.

You absolutely NAILED IT with that line.

  3. The specialists they interviewed today were very informative. Otherwise, the anchors sounded flustered.

  4. KCBS was reporting this morning like the Bay Area was about to be hit by an "Independence Day" like wave. Sensationalized coverage meant for TMZ.

  5. Let's send a crew out to Antioch to check on the lady with the wavy pool. We need to get to the bottom of that breaking news....

    1. That interview was funny, but Antioch is beside the San Joaquin river, so all residents along the river got the tsunami alert. Better safe than sorry.

    2. On their way to Antioch, they can swing by the fountain in Walnut Creek to assess how the earthquake—and the nonexistent tsunami—impacted the fountain’s water.

  6. KTVU did a live break in segment, and Andre Senior stayed calm and did an interview with folks from NOAA. The regular high tide events are more concerning than these tsunami warnings.

    1. I believe you're referring to king tides, and yes they are a concern. Projections are showing a 3 feet increase in Bay water levels within the next 2 decades, so much of the Embarcadero and Marina districts are in danger of extreme flooding.

    2. Nope. Check your math. For over the past 10,00 years, sea level has risen consistently at a rate of about 7.in/100yrs. Since the last Ice Age. In the 70's it was declared that North America would be covered in a sheet of ice at present time. Ah,Yes. Global Warming. A 7 Billion year old existential threat to humanity...that only money can solve. Add insult to injury. The planet is actually cooling.

  7. I feel bad for those folks in Half Moon Bay, who were frantically fleeing the coast via tiny highway 92. Now that the warning has been called off, their still stuck on the highway.

  8. Now the worst part is KCBS has chopped up a bunch of the morning reports and are repeating them over and over and over...

  9. Guiness is listed as a traffic reporter on their website, so it seems like he was filling in for Holly Quan, the normal anchor at the time of the earthquake.

    1. And now he's doing sports at 6:15pm, so he's wearing many hats today.

  10. They have never had to cover an earthquake at the.new studios. Those studios are I'll equipped handle a constant flood of calls because of Audacy cheapness. And Guinessth buffoonery didn't help. Holly Quan was brought in off vacation to bail him out.

  11. The Big Alaska Earthquake 60? 61? Killed TEN people in Crescent City CA.
The tsunami in japan 2010? taught many a lesson - go UP HILL. Like 40’ up hill. It does not require driving over Hwy 92.

Californians cry if they get .2” of rain. A monsoon !!

Let’s see how the pool in Antioch is taking it? I hope they are not using PG&E to heat that mosquito nest.

  13. I seen more cars on the freeway people fleeing then all quiet, fake news trying to make people panic. No one flooded the stores for shelter.

  14. Saw the pool in Antioch again today. Saw the flowers at the cybertruck crash site again today. Saw the Momeni attorney in the garish blue suit again today. Saw the footage of your tax dollars at work cruising the great highway again today.
With all the breaking news I think a 30 min weekend recap is all we need.
Yesterday SF Gate had an article on the best spaghetti in Temecula. WTF? Are these idiots eating bad mushrooms? And we learned the guy assassinated in NYC made millions by denying medical claims. Is there a special place in Hell for such miscreants? I hope so.
Pool water still sloshing in Antioch.
