Do you know if maybe she's gone "Hollywood" too because she briefly appeared as the TV anchor in Venom 3: The Last Dance, which takes place in San Francisco?
Liz Cook is the best of the Bay Area newsreaders, by miles. It took awhile for me to catch on, but both Yamamoto and Cook benefited by being separated. She’s the best since Elaine Corral.
“Liz Cook, Heather Holmes, Anne Makovec, Cristina Rendon, Juliette Goodrich, Andrea Nakano…”
I don’t get why Anne Makovec didn’t get more love. She’s excellent but KPIX doesn’t seem to realize it. Then again, they seem to think Sara Donchey is something special. 🙄
12/5/24 @ ~1500; just saw Cook on KPIX talking about today's 7.0 earthquake up in Humboldt County area; notable to me as I'd wondered if she was still there. I suppose she took some time off during the Thanksgiving holiday period.
I’m all for Liz going to CBS 24/7 but other than yesterday, she was filling in for Ryan Yamamoto at noon. For 3-4 months, Anne Makovec is filling in at 4:30pm, but this should have been known to the viewers that the 4:30PM would temporarily be the Afternoon Edition until they dedicate it to someone (i.e. Anne Makovec).
Anne Makovec is a great anchor, can also be funny at times but is a no nonsense anchor. If you put her at 11PM, she’d do a fantastic job and there was only 1 instance of that.
Now in regard to Sara Donchey and perhaps Ryan Yamamoto and also Reed Cowan, you have to remember, they probably have 3 year contracts since early 2022 so I’d start to think they may leave and some new anchors would replace them. For anchoring I would bring Brian Hackney like he was on Tuesday and he was very professional in the live reports and weather (that is if he will remain (or if he is retiring)).
Sounds to me next year the 11PM news would be handled by someone else next year. I am looking forward to some new developments and changes.
When she started there was too much oh horsey or just soo cute comments. Have seen here a couple of times near kpix is attractive in a well done way but she and going to cheap facial places. Have also seen her with kids and husband in sunglasses and sunblock. She rallied during the pandemic and took on extra work with small ones running around the ORing at home when VDC was unavailable. She has avoided the other tv moms who do AM traffic. Kenny Choi and Da Lin stories I have seen in Sacramento and Los Angeles. That appears to be where network news is going. Not just picking up extra GAR from affiliates but being general cbs reporters. Think of FOX'S Claudia Cowen.
Tom Brokaw was right. Liz has IT. She's a star. All the best wherever she goes.

@11:19 agreed, Makovec is good too. She's all business, so maybe that comes across as stiff and robotic, and not very personable.
DeleteLiz Cook is very talented and beautiful. She needs to be on the network level.
ReplyDeleteIf only Liz worked for KTVU, I'd request a Christmas card from her 😉
ReplyDeleteNot a fan . Never have been .

ReplyDeleteIs she pregnant??
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else noticed that Liz hasn't been wearing her wedding ring lately?

I have to admit, I like the KPIX News at 11pm theme music. I dance to it.
