Posers and Fakers

  1. Larry “look at me” Beil of KGO 7 had the most insincere, immature rant re the A’s leaving. He even tore Fusher’s letter into little pieces. Seemed like he was trying to entertain his female co-anchors and colleagues rather than making valid points. Truly embarrassing imho.

    1. Totally disagree. That was authentic emotions from the heart.

    2. Michael McLaughlin at sfstandard.com (reported on 9/24 and updated on 9/25 regarding Larry Beil's rant) wrote: "Though it had a spontaneous feel, most of what Beil said had been scripted and cleared by an executive producer before he went on the air"

  2. Omg I loved it. It was so great seeing someone be real and honest. Altho ripping up the paper was a little over the top.

  3. John Fisher belongs in Vegas. Land of cheap illusions and bad booze.
But we all know, he’s going to sell out once the team has taken root.
Now that there is nationwide sports gambling, is there any wonder why the NFL, NHL, and MLB set up there? NBA is late to the money grab, but they’ll get there.

    1. Exactly why he doesn't deserve to own an MLB team. He's a conman who never wanted anything to do with Oakland.

  5. All the fake outrage from KNBR - lol just go to Third and King if you want one of the responsibles for this debacle but then you clowns at KNBR get the bulk of your paychecks from Larry Baer et al so let’s keep dumping on the A’s

  6. It's valid to call out someone who isn't performing up to the expectations of their position, but to call out someone for fake emotions is presumptuous and unnecessary.

  7. This sounds like a judgemental rant.

  8. The past few days Tolbert and Copes made a big issue of a baseball player getting “dumped by the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 plate appearances before getting a $200,000 bonus”. They were outraged and essentially called the Pirates cheap bastards.
What reporters Copeland and Tolbert did not report - it’d mean working and screw up the story - was that the player had already been paid 3 MILLION dollars this season and was a bust.
Give Copeland and Tolbert their final check, they sure as hell are not earning their keep.

    1. It was an incentive bonus which his agent negotiated and the player agreed to. Was it fair? Absolutely. Was it unethical to release the player so close to qualifying for the bonus? Yes, especially since the player was underperforming and the team was out of the playoff picture months ago.

  9. I talked to an East Coast sports writer. He writes for a newspaper in a city with a NL East team. Word amongst the sports writers is the A’s will either stay in Sacto or Fisher will eventually sell to an Oakland group after Vegas doesn’t happen. Going to Vegas is not a done deal.

    1. My thoughts: Fisher never wanted to stay in Oakland. He just wanted to relocate to any city that would pay for a new stadium. There's no financial plan in Vegas, so it won't happen. Sacramento will either be a permanent move or Fisher will look at another city, but Oakland is not an option either way.

    2. I don't think there are many people that want to stay in Oakland,
