Thanks for the update! In life, there are no forever friends or forever buddies especially at a work place. Like neighbors, how many close relationship turns up forever friends, rare or never. For Betty, I be fair. Her behavior using medical leave to get rid of KPIX is cruel. If she is not happy at KPIX, no body cares you stay or walk out the door. This happens in all work place. The boss is the bully, co workers back stab each other preying for a top spot with some cases something inappropriate which only internal staffs will know.
KTVU and NBC is the best place for her. She should leave but not using medical excuses when she is still under the company to leave this way. She probably knows someone at KTVU, I will not hire a staff recently serious sick few months ago this serious and using a fresh start at another station. She should have change path or jobs not in the media field or anchor instead of KTVU, smart people knows this is not the best way especially when she is a News public figure, we have the rights to know and care. Reporters farewell phrase, thank you for bringing us or the anchor in as part of their family
Nobody knows the true reasons for Betty's KPIX departure, but she may be at an IDGAD stage in her broadcasting career, and KTVU provides a rest stop before she moves onto her next career. Whatever she decides to do, best of luck to her.

I work at PIX, and nobody's upset about her departure. People have the right to pursue different opportunities in their careers, and nobody blames her for making a move. It was clear for some time before she left that she wasn't fully engaged; there was a sense that Betty was feeling burnt out and just going through the motions. Change can be a positive thing, and I hope Betty finds what she's looking for at KTVU.
However, the prevailing sentiment here is that Betty burned her bridges with the way she handled her time off and departure. It was seen as unprofessional and sneaky. No one here believed her leave was related to a legitimate medical issue, especially based on how her demeanor in the weeks and months leading up to it. There was a lack of communication, and it felt like her leave was merely an opportunity to hunt for a new job. To provide context, she took unpaid FMLA leave for the maximum 12 weeks starting in early January. Legally, she could have returned to her previous position at KPIX after that. It's now obvious that she used that time to job hunt, hoping she wouldn't have to come back to PIX, even though she knew she could return if needed. Additionally, it's been revealed that she gave PIX no notice. We only found out when she made a public announcement on social media. It's disheartening that even those who considered her a friend received no communication from her during her time off, aside from very delayed, short responses. It's also noteworthy that her announcement coincided exactly with the end of her 12-week leave. Most importantly, apparently those whose opinion and recommendation really matter (management and leadership) are not pleased with how she handled the situation.
After being here for over a decade, it's surprising to see her so willingly burn bridges and disregard the goodwill and trust she had built up.
What a bunch of crying Karens. Betty is free to seek other employment at any point, for any reason. If she wants to look for new employment while she’s on a personal leave of absence then that’s her right and none of our business. Would you feel better if she returned to the PIX airwaves only to turn around and jump ship to KTVU a month later so it wouldn’t appear she job hunted (heaven forbid!) while she was on leave?
And, despite Rich's claims she's a "media star," there isn't the least bit special thing about her. She's a chick with a stick mike. The junior colleges are full of them. Don't talk to me about all her "reporting experience." You're handed a press release by an intern or assignment editor, you read it, you go out with your photog, he shoots B-roll while you get coffee, you meet with the contact on your press release, the contact gives you your bites, the photog combines that with his B-roll, you shoot an outcue or standup, and you're done. Not brain surgery.

Betty Yu is the dictionary definition of the “halo effect” where people who are physically attractive are automatically assumed to have other positive and desirable traits even without evidence, such competence, intelligence, and success. If Betty looked like Amber Lee or Deborah Villalon no one would give a damn and she certainly wouldn’t receive this type of coverage. Just my personal opinion though.
Last night Constipation man was smiling during the Yu report on a man who got hit by a car while riding a scooter then at the end of the report she’s still answering a question and Constipation man awkwardly rushed to move on to the next story. Dude has absolutely no sense of timing. He makes everyone else look bad with his awkwardness
His timing is awkward just like his personality. He doesn’t know how to have natural interactions that appear genuine. Some anchors are really good at it, some aren’t. Mibach is terrible at it. He always appears stiff and uncomfortable and his interrupting people is obnoxious. It’s possible he’s in a permanent state of constipation though it’s equally as possible he’s just a strange man with no people skills.
The only bright side I see is they maybe can retire the tired, doe-eyed Amber Lee, who looks like she barely understands the news she is covering anymore and can't get through a 20 second standup without bumbling her lines. At least Betty isn't burned out—yet. Give it a year.
I find it curious that when the God fearing and luscious beauty Olivia Horton left KRON she was not joined by, nor mentioned Jessica Wills as her successor. There’s gotta be a backstory. This smells similar to when Kyla joined Olivia on set and they had great chemistry then suddenly Kyla was sent off to the “upstairs studio” and whenever they had a toss to weather neither one acknowledged the other by name.

I don't care what industry you're in, quitting on the spot with no notice is something that's frowned upon across the board and something that companies remember. And in the case of Betty Yu, it's exacerbated by the fact she's in a very public role and tv news is a small world. It may not prevent employers from hiring her in the future but it seems like a lousy reputation to have.

For unknown reasons, Rich - the Bay Area's preeminent media observer and ombudsman - is refusing to cover it even though it's publicly verifiable through multiple means. I would think that a station eliminating the Bay Area's most watched weekend newscast would be worth covering but evidently not.
