KRON Payroll Blues; CBS SF 'Shocked' Over Betty Yu Split; More KNBR Unin...

  1. Yep. My direct deposit was about $900 short. Not fun when you’re living paycheck to paycheck and your bill due dates coincide with your pay schedule.

    1. Living paycheck-to-paycheck is risky and irresponsible. You should be SAVING money from each paycheck. That’s a basic of adulthood.

    2. @7:59, although I agree with the premise of your comment, it's not necessarily an option to save money, at least not a significant amount of money to withstand a major event like a pandemic. Unfortunately, anywhere from 60-75% of US workers live paycheck to paycheck, so to label all of these people as "irresponsible" IS an irresponsible statement. Most economists recommend an emergency fund of at least 6 months savings, but that emergency fund can quickly become depleted during a pandemic when you've been newly laid-off and competing with millions of other laid-off workers.

    3. I work for kron. I was impacted by the ’payroll processing error.’ My check was about half of what it was supposed to be.

    4. 12:30 completely agree.

    5. 4;05 & 3:14, I guess I lucked out. Mine was ”only” about $230 short. They corrected mine today.

    6. Yet another kron employee here. I don’t want to say how much I was shorted because it could identify me to management. I’ll just say that this payroll error really stressed me out and affected me. I had to get a late payment exception from a credit card company and had to get an exception from my landlord to make a slightly late payment. It all worked out but what bugged me most was the cold-hearted nature of the communications we’ve received from kron. No real apology and no acknowledgment that being hundreds short has REAL impacts, especially to those of us with children.

  2. Not sure if it was Betty's intention to go on vacation and never return to KPIX, but I like the strategy. Being someone who's done the same thing twice, I like not having too much attention on my last day of work, and not having to answer the same questions from colleagues. It's a clean break in employment relation.

    1. Betty is dating an uber wealthy venture capitalist so she’ll be just fine if she wants to take an extended break before returning to the workforce (assuming she ever does).

    2. My last day at one company was full of fun surprises, but it was also very uncomfortable as everyone was asking me why I was leaving, so I had to answer the same question over and over. The whole "clean break" comment resonates with me.

  3. Oh no, if Carmen is now a regular on Marty's show, I may have to tune in to the recorded version and skip Carmen's segments.

  4. Heard FP Santangelo doing math on the SF Giants broadcast today (KNBR). “The Giant have hit 4 home runs today 428’, 413’, 402’, and 398’ - that’s 1241’.” Add questionable math skills to the brain dead Santangelo. He has to go. He was terrible on his night gig on KNBR, and whoever thought he could broadcast a game needs their head examined. Must have picked him up on the cheap. Is he still pretending to be Lothario of the Marina? He needs the tattoo “PATHETIC” inked onto his forehead. Just like Murphy, if you hear Santangelo’s voice CHANGE the channel. I wish I had but I happened to be driving today.

  5. Brian Hackney is back. However he sometimes can take absences so its hard to tell if at what point it may be prolonged yet again.

Darren is likely off again this weekend with all the filling in he did over the evenings in addition to last weekend.

But it reminds me back of Oct 2022 when Brian & Andrea claimed a nice and efficient way to run a newscast is to both anchor & one does the weather, one does sports. You don’t get that often.

But I like KNTV but sounds like Cintia Pimentel was doing a double shift of weather. Hopefully Rob Mayeda is back. I really enjoy his forecasts

  6. Speaking of Kron…their latest show of incompetence: during their morning newscast they kept referring to dengue fever as ‘dung’ fever’ Rich this gets back to the point you always make that anchors don’t even know what the fuck they’re talking about and don’t take the time to learn. maybe they aren’t getting paid since they aren’t even performing their bare minimum job responsibilities

  7. Oh, how the once mighty have fallen. Between his non-stop shilling for that River Islands shit dump out in the middle of nowhere and his elevation of Carmen Poo into a regularly scheduled position of prominence, Marty's radio show, which was once appointment radio for us die-hard Giants fans, has become utterly embarrassing and frankly unlistenable.

I've noticed that Adam Copeland, in his role as program director, has already significantly reduced the amount of airtime that Marty receives. I'm guessing this rapid downward spiral will only serve to accelerate Marty's continued demise and eventual dismissal from the airwaves altogether.

    1. Marty isn't paid by KNBR so if he is doing fewer hours it's because he has less advertisers

  8. Not to pile on, but who is this Walter guy who does the pregame after Marty's two hours are up? He's awful and clearly a diversity hire. Thanks Adam Copeland for destroying a once highly respected and listenable station.

  10. Spot on - ’they look like they just got off the bus from Modesto.' These days I barely recognize anyone on KPIX. It's a bunch of nondescript reporters who look like they barely cut it in Bakersfield. Sad state of affairs when you consider the glory days!

  11. KRON is tanking. All the good talent is retiring or quitting. The station GM is a racist psycho closeted Trumper. He hates the bay area and half the staff. He talks trash on all the station employees behind their backs. Nexstar should have fired him a long time ago. Oh and the sales team is completely uninterested in making money. Many of them are looking for other jobs and all their sales managers are left. The whole thing is very sad for kron. The end days for the station
