  1. Currently we are in an undeclared civil war. After November 5, we will be in a declared civil war.

    1. @6:23- Just curious, what do you mean by that? Can you please elaborate?

  2. Apparently Ktvu was just as surprised as everyone else that Betty quit KPIX with no notice and it has definitely soured her arrival. I think this explains why the her reception by Ktvu talent and staff has been very muted. Everyone was stunned that she arrived so quickly. There’s an expected degree of professionalism when leaving a job and Betty certainly didn’t display that.

    1. Radio is one of the few businesses where resignations and terminations don't exactly require notice. At many (not all) stations it's a quick meeting, you're handed a COBRA packet and someone in security is assigned to frog march you out the door. If you give notice you're treated the same way. The HR consultants wouldn't have it any other way.

  3. Ironically, the things that were supposed to make everything better for us—the internet, connectivity, bringing us closer, truth without gatekeepers—instead has destroyed us. It's instructive that the tech bros who brought us all this garbage are now building bunkers on remote islands for the coming Armageddon. *They* don't want to stick around for what they created.

    1. @7:00- True, hard to disagree with this point. It seemed like the original intent for the internet, social media, and certain other technological advances in the early to mid 2000's was for good, but somewhere along the way things changed and became bastardized and we are where we are today as far as the internet, AI, etc.

Looking back, I think if we would've stayed where were technology wise back then, we would probably be in much better shape as a society currently. Yeah, things evolve and progress, but we may have evolved a little too much in some areas.

  4. Aldous Huxley must have been a clairvoyant in 1932 when " Brave New World" was published. His dystopian vision of technology, scientific advancements, human engineering, homogeneity of the grand parade of lifeless packaging conditioned to obey. Similar interface of Orwell's "1984". The media as you know it, is gone. It's soulless, monotone measured dose of propaganda is friend to no man. Uncle Walter is not there to sooth and reassure us that everything is going to be alright. Because it isn't. The trust of the public has been violated by institutions that at one time were deemed beyond reproach to the point of being revered. We are at a tipping point. Thomas Paine "These are the times that try mens souls". No truer words need be spoken at such a pivotal time in our history. Dispel the illusions, Confront and address the lies and demand those be held accountable for their actions. Do not be fearful. The enemy is fear. We think it is hate, but it is fear.

  5. Completely agree, Rich. Normally, this would be a prime year for political discussions, but with the current state of US politics, I'm afraid the discussions would lead me to turn off the radio. I remember the days of Ray Taliaferro. He was incredibly passionate, but I respected his opinions. These days, political discussions have an illogical, cult-like tone, that drives listeners away.

    1. @8:03- You can kind of thank Trump for that. Feels like since he was in office, political discussions have changed. Also the rise of social media can be a factor as well. I kind of miss the days when talking about politics was kind of boring and it didn't get overly political to where friendships and relationships were broken because of it.

    2. 10:08, politics was once much more civil. Now it's not what my party can do for you, but how the other party is screwing you over(real or not). And the Internet has been the main culprit for spreading each party's propaganda.

  6. And just like that Betty Yu no longer appears on KTVU’s website: https://www.ktvu.com/person/betty-yu

So she worked one day and she’s already gone. What in the world is going on with her? This is insane.

    1. I found it on their website at https://www.ktvu.com/person/y/betty-yu just now. Maybe just a website reorg. Anyway, another Jack London Headscratcher ... solved! On to the next one!

  7. I’m so confused. Betty Yu is no longer a Ktvu employee? She started earlier this week, right? Talk about some drama.

  8. Did Yu seriously apply to a bunch of jobs while on leave from PIX, then accept the first offer she got (KTVU) out of pure desperation to leave PIX, only to leave KTVU after four days when she received the job offer she really wanted all along? Unreal.

    1. 10:26 PM: Not sure what's going on with Betty Yu, but what you described is not uncommon. An employee often finds themselves eager to leave their current employer, so they cast a wide net of applications with a clear top choice. When they receive an offer from one of the non-top choice companies, they take that job as a means of escape. Then, at some point in the future (sometimes very near future), they receive an offer from their top choice and move there. I work for a large Fortune 500 corporation, and this scenario definitely happens.
