News is mostly bad and somewhat depressing, so any anchor that can deliver the news in a calm and somewhat cheerful manner has my vote. Pete Wilson is the antithesis of calm and cheerful. I'd take Dave McElhatton and Wendy Tokuda.
Among the less renowned: "The Tuck and Fortner Report" on KTVU in the early 1970s when Dennis Richmond was still a beat reporter. Michael Tuck and Ron Fortner would later work in San Diego for a lot of years, Tuck had a good run at KCBS in Los Angeles in the 1990s.
Mcelhatton on KPIX was also tops
ReplyDeleteI would also add Dennis Richmond. Frank Somerville. Pete Wilson. Bob Jimenez and Evan white. Also Anna Chavez and Kate Kelly.
ReplyDeleteAnna Chavez was a hottie, and a big A's fan.
DeleteWhat about Frank?

ReplyDeleteSounds like you're describing Juliette Goodrich and Noelle Bellow.
DeleteAdd Roger Grimsby before he left for NYC.
ReplyDeleteAnother visit with the Hot Tub Time Travelers! Bring your own backscrubber.
ReplyDeleteBelva Davis, miles ahead of the pack
ReplyDeleteRich - not a bad choice for GOAT anchor.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the KGO-TV anchors rode into town on horses. One of the greatest promos of all time.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a scene from Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Embarrassed to admit I saw such dreck from 2004 recently on a United flight.
DeleteVan Amburg, Jerry Jensen, Pete Giddings and John O,Reilly.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteprefer 'bold stroke' Dave 'Mac' McElhatton. granted he wasn't best to look at but delivered no nonsense, consistent news
ReplyDeleteThat photo kind of reminds me of what Tom Vacar would look like if he learned how to smile.
ReplyDeleteLloyd Patterson

ReplyDeleteLol! The best is Pete Wilson, hands down.
