  1. Great…this will be like Tucker Carlson interviewing Putin and letting him ramble off of softball questions. But, I will watch!

  2. Doesn’t matter what anyone says but I am happy to hear you are at least giving him a shot at an interview. Let’s be honest everyone makes mistakes and it takes guts and time to admit. He will come back strong and I hope KTVU will hire him again. Or….he can be Brian Hackney’s replacement 😂 To start weekends

    1. One of my all-time favorite newscasters was George Watson.
He had great talent, but many hurdles. He was able to get over them and move on. I believe that Frank can do the same.
      Thanks for arranging this, Rich.

  3. Ugh, why the obsession with this guy? Time to move FORWARD...he needs a fresh start somewhere else.

    1. Frank can start over in Phoenix, Denver, Seattle, Honolulu, Dallas, Kansas City.
He will do fine there, and can walk proudly down the street without feeling like he’s a leper.
A fresh start will do him wonders.

  4. I agree. People who learn by their mistakes and change earn it!

    1. The number who say they've done this is far far far far larger than those who really do.

  5. I want to tune in. Hope your doing well Rich!

  6. There is no way this guy is clean. I would encourage you to explore that angle.

    1. This is Frank may I ask why you say that???

    2. Yeah 1:16pm... Why would you hide behind your computer and say that? How do you know? What evidence do you even have? Shouldn't make off the cuff comments like that. Weakling!

  7. Good riddance to Frank

  8. Unless you bring up the Iranian intern, they are softballs.

    1. I hope he does. I’ll be happy to talk about her.

    2. it's up to Rich to bring that up, no way Frank does. Wasn't there a payout to her as well to make it all go away? That would be an important part of why he no longer works at KTVU.

  9. Everyone needs a chance to prove that change is possible. We wish Frank the best because he do what he love best is to be a news anchor. Let all wish him the best because he needs to be heard because his struggles is real.

  12. Yeah the dude has a whole lot of baggage, but he has a disease, pure and simple. The fact he’s agreed to come on for an hour with Lieberman, it's a big deal, because he’ll have to some tough and straightforward questions. Those of you who want to throw him in the recycling bin are A-holes, in my opinion. So easy to make judgments on others! Look in your own damn mirror!

    1. You call alcoholism a disease? More like s life choice like drug use. I have compassion for people suffering from cancer and such; not the love a bottle of booze or drugs. Summerville almost killed some people with his Porsche. But he is still your hero who needs a second chance? Maybe ask some KTVU staffers how many chances this guy actually got before they fired him finally.

    2. Acknowledging you have zero compassion for fellow humans struggling with addiction? I’m assuming/hoping you’re 14 years old, 15 max. Anyway, you’ve just dismissed yourself from the conversation. Have fun at the kiddy table.

    4. 8:06 PM, well said.

    5. I agree with you 100%, 5:30 PM. Alcoholism is NOT a disease; it's a weakness of character. If you don't want to be a drunk or "a slave to alcohol", then just fucking quit, you pussies. Quit. It's not a disease. Take your life into your own hands and make that change.

    6. Oops. I'm 7:21 AM. I cited the WRONG person I agree with. I meant 7:10PM. 5:30 PM is one of those misguided fools who thinks we should treat drunks like they have cancer. They don't. Drunks are lazy and selfish. If they wanted to stop, they could stop. They're weak.

    7. 7:21 AM I feel sorry for you. You are likely a very unhappy person and miserable enough to throw shade like that. You have no idea how hard addiction is for some people. It is a choice to partake, but the addiction can be so persistent, even the strongest of people can’t beat it. Frank going to meetings and following guidance is proof that he wants to do what ever it takes to beat addiction. Be supportive, please. You never know who around you might need that and you can make a positive difference in their life.

have to see/hear it to believe it.
will come off as another fluff(y) piece like KRON4 Pam Moore interview with Frank unfortunately...

  14. I hope you show compassion and acknowledge his substance abuse struggles while still asking about the tangible actions that have contributed to his downfall, including the relationship with the intern, going on air intoxicated more than once, drinking and driving, etc. I also hope you ask to tell his side of the gabby petito story. Also, ask him directly if he wants to return to ktvu.

    1. This is Frank. I hope he asks me those questions too. I told him that NOTHING is off limits. I have nothing to hide.

    2. Frank knows he was a weak drunk. And he finally decided to be a man and take his own life into his own hands AND QUIT DRINKING. Good for him. Stop calling it a disease.

  15. Despite what anyone there may say, all ktvu eyes will be watching. All of them.

  16. Rich... Are you going to own up to all the bleep you talked about Frank? People in glass houses... Just like athletes or actors & actresses, we really don't know any of these people. Addiction is a terrible thing. While you can ask him about his behavior and actions the last few years, show some empathy & compassion. Look forward to the conversation.

    1. Don’t worry Will the Thrill. Probably will be a schmooze fest for you Frank supporters. Maybe Rich can interview Mark Ibanez next. Oh, the stories they won’t tell.

  17. Thanks for organizing this. I’m looking forward to tuning in. I respect you for looking for new ways engage your audience, try new things, and bring new perspectives. Tune out the haters, naysayers, and weirdos and keep doing you.

  18. Rich, you've mentioned frank's affairs with a 28 year old intern and the station paying her a settlement to get rid of her. You've also mentioned his affairs with other ktvu staff. Will you ask about those? I understand he was impaired other times while on air, but not bad enough to be pulled from the broadcast, will that be covered? How about his current legal case... doesn't he have like 5 or 6 charges against him? Has that been concluded?

    ReplyDelete
  19. This is on youtube? I really hope he can get it together. I love him

  20. Great job Rich! You are the man on this. Maybe ask Sommerville about his real politics cause his friends say he voted for Trump in 2016 but he uses his Berkeley background to attract liberal viewers. It seems like he uses his second daughter the same way, always reminding people the has a black daughter for street cred. Why doesn't he talk about how shes doing at college? Isn't she in Alabama or something? Was it a coincidence that his wife filed for divorce like a week after Frank got his last paycheck from KTVU in January 2023? I also heard that Frank paid the intern himself, a sorta blackmail thing. If you wanna really go viral, don't ask the same crap that he keeps talking about on KRON or facebook, go fur the gusto Rich!

    1. Yeah, I know. Of course, he considers himself a journalist too, even though he can't spell or punctuate or construct a simple sentence.

  22. I doubt that you'll have a problem, Rich, being straightforward about things you've said about Frank here, the KRON interviews, other observations. You've been pretty fair with him here, more so than many others, he's been an easy guy to kick when he's down. I still think his complaint about young white girls' disappearances rating higher news prominence than those of color is a legitimate one, does Frank regret raising it if it meant being taken off the air?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Truth be told, it probably says something for talent and ability that a news anchor who has not been on anyone's air in two and half years attracts more interest and speculation as to his future than the good folks toiling away at local stations today. For most anchors, if you stood in a mall parking lot and showed people their 8x10s, people would not be able to attach a name to the face
