Only it's NOT FUNNY!
KTVU has sunk into the deep abyss. Fred Zehnder is shaking in his grave.
"Like it or not?" is a new TIME FILLER; a waste of time, really; KTVU '23 trying to be hip, or more like trying to be uber-annoying, BINGO!
LION goes on forever and forever--a mindless segment that EMBARRASSESand is embarrassing to the hosts, like this doozy.Yes, as a reader said, a TOTAL ABOMINATION!
I used to work there. My god that looks rediculous. Why not just do the news with no slant. Just report the facts and give as many different perspectives to the viewer so they can make up their minds. That’s the history of the ten o’clock news. I knew Fred zehnder. He would NEVER have allowed this. Really sad to see ktvu fall like they have cause there are still a lot of good people there who care about what they’re doing.
ReplyDeleteI must've missed something. What the hell is "Like it or not?" Your photo shows four clowns sitting around a table in a poorly lit studio.
ReplyDeleteKTVU. When you find yourself in a hole...STOP DIGGING!!
ReplyDeleteThere’s no rock bottom for them.
DeleteLike It Or Not...Hot Or Not...The 'Golden' Bachelor. Boy, the dumbing down of a nation in full effect. Smash Or Pass? I'll pass. I'd still rather read one of those books they're trying to ban or learn a language. You know, something that might be useful for the betterment of myself and society.
ReplyDelete“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are even stupider than that.” - George Carlin. Must be their target audience.
You are 100% correct. Well put, well conceived, well written. A+
DeleteIsn't there real news to report? Stories with impact? Or has KTVU completely given up on that stuff?
ReplyDeleteOh please, it’s on their second channel at a random time; not prime time. I would rather watch this than see the Big Bang theory play NONSTOP. Harmless fun with the morning anchors/reporters. Big whoop.
ReplyDeleteHarmless fun? This isn’t Comedy Central or the Game Show Network. If they gave a flying fuck about news and integrity (what’s that?) they’d have their news staff spend their time and efforts on actual news that could make a difference for the community. Instead they dedicate resources to this useless dog shit.
DeleteWell, in all fairness, they said in their intro this is not a news show, it's just fun.
DeleteMy problem is who at the top thought these topics were fun? Then again, if they talk about anything more involved, it would be "controversial." Everyone sees politics in everything, and they are probably worried about both red and blue.
KTVU is copying & ripping off the "Like It Or Not" show from their sister station WTTG Fox 5 in D.C. The difference though is that Fox 5 DC have a more outgoing opinionated panel than their Fox 2 counterparts. Plus the female panel in Fox 5 show a lot of legs that reel in the ratings among the 21-45 male demographic.
DeleteThe adult ....romper room ?
ReplyDeleteMabrisa Rodriguez would do wonders at KTVU
ReplyDeleteWhat is it the new '2 at Noon' with Barbara Simpson and Pat McCormick?
ReplyDeleteCan't tell which is worst, Like It Or Not or watching Reggie Aqui anchor. Both turns my stomach
ReplyDeleteReggie is BY FAR the worst TV "personality" in the business. He is absolutely unwatchable.
DeleteHow about the silly weather sets.
ReplyDeleteI have lived in the Washington DC area... the Fox O&O TV Fox 5 started that Like it or Not talk forum with rotated news anchors, reporters, and local radio station personalities chyming in on various news headline and topics.
ReplyDeleteIt's similar to what Channel 7 does with their 4 on 4 segment.
Bailee’s wearing jeans as she talks about some meaningless topic. Watch out world, Ktvu is finally hip and cool!
ReplyDeleteAnother reason why I am amazed anyone watches local news anymore. It is a joke. It is not news at all. Get the information that impacts your life from a Google News feed. You don't need to waste your time watching these yahoos.
ReplyDeleteOh "Like it or Not," a dismal display,
DeleteWhere four dull minds have naught of wit to say,
Each episode a painful, grating jest,
A sorry show that puts its viewers to the test.
Their banter feeble, lacking any spark,
With humor stale, they miss the vital mark,
Inane discussions drag on through the hours,
A wretched sight, devoid of any powers.
Yet some may find a perverse delight,
In watching fools fumble, no doubt they might,
But for discerning tastes, it's clear to see,
"Like it or Not" is naught but drudgery.
Thanks for the laugh Shakey!
DeleteThis is absolutely pathetic. Why anyone would listen to this collection of idiots blabber on and on about nothing is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteKTVU died when FOX got full control.

DeleteAs the kids say: “THIS IS SO CRINGY” Aldo what’s with the oversized coffee mugs? Are they also playing trance music like that diva on the PIX 11pm news with her crazy outfits?
ReplyDeleteThe money-makers on Fox News Channel are Gutfeld and The Five. The round-robin approach with a panel looks like those shows but none of these people are even remotely funny. It’s as if management told KTVU to do something like Gutfeld and this is their best attempt. What an embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteAnd Gutfeld and The Five aren't even remotely funny to me. They just say the most outrageous, racist, misogynist, sexist or homophobic thing on-air, often based in ZERO FACTS whatsoever on air to get a rise out of people. What a waste of airspace. Gotta love Rupert Murdoch. The most detrimental entity that ever happened to the U.S. media landscape. Just another reason why the child-lock function on my remote control is useful for mostly all FOX 'news' channels (even though I have no children...that I know of...lol)
DeleteI watched some of this show yesterday. Apparently it's a rotating cast of characters because unlike the screengrab above, yesterday's show featured Gasia, Rosemary, Dave Clark, and Allie R.
ReplyDeleteIs this going to be a daily show? At some point they're going to run out of topics to discuss since they only seem to spend 2-3 minutes per topic. Yesterday's thought-provoking questions included "do you talk to your rideshare driver?," "do you bag your own groceries" and "do you eat in your car?"

DeletePlease tell me this is a joke/satire article. I can't imagine they've sunk to such a low.
ReplyDeleteLike most who've commented before me, I think this show is a complete joke and a total embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, Rich, your blog evidently wields influence in newsrooms. For many months, you've pointed out KTVU's penchant for saturating their newscasts with a slew of irrelevant, non-local stories from random FOX affiliates (namely KCRA and various SoCal stations). It was truly problematic, reaching a point where it felt like I was watching the KCRA news on many days.
However, it seems they have taken notice of your commentary because they appear to have significantly reduced the abundance of these subpar, non-local stories and relocated them to the West Coast News Wrap, which is hosted by Mr. Alex Savidge.

ReplyDeleteOne of these stations should try and bring back a local 'People Are Talking' format with a live studio audience like KPIX had in the 80's. Anything's better than this mess. But of course that would require vision from a production standpoint and lively and engaging hosts like Ann Frazier (RIP) and Ross McGowan were. And to paraphrase The Golden Girls' Sophia Potrillo, 'looking out at this kennel club (of local broadcast journalists) that's no easy accomplishment'. lol
ReplyDeleteThat and bring back TV 20's weekly 'Dance Party' and I'd be a happy camper. It'd be interesting just to see how high school students and dances have changed (lord knows the music has...bleep..bleep) and who can embarrass their family on local television the most. lol I'm sensing viral moments with this vision. James Gabbert where u at? (Cue dog looking in the camera...lol)
I was pissed when I saw this was on at night. Like seriously KTVU, WTF?! I’d much rather watch Sofia Vergara and Sarah Hyland on Modern Family, than Gasia Mikaelian and Allie Rasmus!
