I watched this morning....duh. "Welcome and the usual I am happy to be here" One station decides the anchors look better standing and delivering news and rest follows like dumb sheep. Don't really know who is better in the morning - ktvu, kron, kpix, kgo or the one from south bay that no one probably watches. Oh well .....give me the latest headlines and I am off to do real work while you read the teleprompter and look interested.
My problem with "the one from the South Bay" is that I know from personal anecdote what a whackjob and manipulative bitch Laura Garcia is. I can't look at her face without wanting to vomit.
Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic I see. Let the over saturation of morning news (and news in general) continue. Makes me miss the days when there were three channels and you had to get up from the couch and change the dial. And they all went off the air at midnight.
I'll stick with KGO in the mornings for now. At least they make me laugh after rustling through the latest litany of tragedies. Body found in a duffel bag close to Outside Lands...Oh My!!! Let's get reporters from every station on the scene and reveal we have no new information to report. Give them all a Peabody!! (Insert eyeroll.)
And the band played on. Was that band Dan Ashley's? lol
Reed Cowan's personality is good for the mornings and that's a good thing. No shade. Justin Andrews seemed out of place in this market. I like to see representation but Andrew's cadence sounded like the kind of reporter that you find in Atlanta or Chicago. Again no shade, just different for the Bay.
They brought in a pro and moved Cowan who knows what he is doing. Franco, Moran and Burch as fine as support but this gives KPIX a solid team that not the Disney goof troop, Darya and her insanity, Dave, Pam and the GAAS taking selfies over at KTVU.
Amanda's having a rough year. Her boyfriend has vanished from her social media account (in which she comes across as a nester extraordinaire), now with the lineup revamp she appears to be in anchor limbo (today she did 9 and noon). No bueno. She should look at the SoCal market
Actually if she’s a “nester extraordinary” I respect her. Doesn’t sound like she’s looking for likes on Instagram like so many other Bay Area reporters.
Nicole Zaloumis is actually from Alameda CA, right across the bay from SF. That's according to her bio online. My opinion, after watching the first day of this new crew on Monday, is that there was quite a dramatic change from the way it had been running. Nicole seems highly energetic and full of caffeine, but her delivery was spot on and one could understand her, which was all the more dramatic, when she would swing over to Jessica Burch to do the weather. All of a sudden one could not understand what was being broadcast, there was such a difference! While I actually liked the broadcast yesterday, I really want to know WHAT HAPPENED TO JOCELYN MORAN??? She was a doll babe to me!
Today being Wednesday, I think it sounds like Amanda & Ryan are anchoring noon, Liz anchoring 3 and Liz & Ryan doing 5-6.
Also today Mary Lee instead of Darren Peck is filling in for Jessica Burch in the studio. Great to see her again, stellar job as always.
Now, much of us have noticed how humid it has been for the last few days and they all credit it to the tropical storm Eugene and explain in detail.
The problem with Brian Hackney this past weekend was he did a terrible job with forecasting. All he ends up saying is "high clouds east to west" and talks about high and low pressure (of course these are important) but did not credit to the remnants of the tropical storm and said thunder bumpers, but not anywhere near specific. Nothing about the humidity and mugginess feeling. He only mentions the basics and sometimes injects unnecessary humor and trivia in his forecasts, but misses many points. Hackney should NEVER go back to the weather; anchoring he's really great at. You put him for 1 week when drastic weather comes, he won't even declare a First Alert Weather Day when he should. If anything, they should remove him off the weather staff, keep him at the anchor desk and look to have at least 1 more weatherperson like NBC does (They have 5 on staff, Vianey Arana is a standby).
Paul, Jessica & Mary get to the right point and detail in less time about this.
Wow and just to think we were talking a lot about Brian Hackney...surprisingly, he is filling in for Paul tonight. Normally, it's Darren Peck when he is not on the same morning. Maybe he could be filling in the next day morning. Yet he was there at 5:30PM on some other reporting.
Now he's taking the tropical storm threats and giving a better detail about them than over last weekend. I hope Paul Heggen will return tomorrow, we might have Alert days since next week could be sultry. Climate change at its finest! oh boy.
Not too much messing around with Jules this time except for the fact he quoted that Jules was ripped away from the weekends :( Jeez, Brian, talk to management, retire or get over it man.
I remember Nicole Z from NFL Network & some sideline reporting work with the Raiders. Nicole grew up in Alameda and lived in Danville, Cali so she already with familar with the Bay Area and.. yeah she attractive too!
Amanda has been the glue for so many changes to the morning show. KPIX is launching their new PIX programming platform on channel CW12 soon. Unsure of how all the anchors will work out but we will have to wait and see. As far as Nicole, not sure where Rich L (who did this post) got his information that she was from Atlanta. After leaving the NFL A.M. show based in LA, she came back home to the Bay Area worked for the Raiders as sideline reporter and did their weekly show. She took time off after giving birth to her daughter and has finally found her calling with KPIX. Welcome back Nicole Z.
Why did KPIX replace Asian, Hispanic & Black morning TV crew members with an all white morning staff? Do they not know about the diversity in the Bay Area??
Like the new AM weekday crew at KPIX 5, Nicole Zaloumis is a HOTTIE!

Delete@2:38 Laura Garcia has spooky eyes, like Kris Sanchez a lot better
DeleteNicole used to be on the NFL network. I guess Starrantino is stuck doing the 9am and the streaming.
ReplyDeleteJocelyn Moran?

ReplyDeleteAmanda should leave KPIX, management seems to be a mess with no loyal anchor coming and leaving

DeleteShe could leave with my blessing. I hear they're already casting for Barbie 2.
DeleteIf Marla Téllez can be an anchor in LA then Amanda should head to La-La Land.
DeleteI stick with KTVU, KRON and NBC 11, pointless KPIX new makeover, not watching KGO Pride.
ReplyDeleteKTVU is even worse.

ReplyDelete@3:13 Although I like Amanda I like Nicole right from the get-go, tells you she's a keeper
DeleteJocelyn Moran - good question. Might be taking some time off for now. She was at the Karol G concert last night at Levi’s Stadium.
DeleteLet’s wait a few more days to a week and see what happens.
Would someone tell Reyna Harvey her "Do" is out of date? I really like her but her "Do" is distracting, also remind her it's the 2,000's, not 70's
ReplyDeleteTrying to outdo oj simpson in "Naked Gun" Lol!

Hackney should stick with anchoring, but
Adding to my point - they should still consider him for a primetime slot, otherwise buyout and let him retire.
