Former KGO-TV Reporter, Jim Wieder, Among Those Missing in Maui Fire Storm; Update: Wieder is Safe

AMONG the thousands missing in fire-ravaged Hawaii, is former KGO-TV reporter, Jim Wieder.

Wieder, a Maui resident, has not been heard from since the early part of the week when the fire hit the island.

Wider was a GSA reporter for KGO in the mid 90's until the early 2000s. He's been a Maui resident for over two years.

I'll alert you when/if I get more info.

Update; Turns out, VWieder was 300 miles away from the west side of Maui--safe and sound.

  1. Wieder was the guy who bought Hayward Ace Hardware downtown after he left KGO. Very well stocked, excellent customer service.

    1. I used to go there back in the day. I'm not a fan of Home Depot.

  5. A further Dan Ashley comment. Without a contract extension Dan would seem to be exploring other career options. Perhaps he can join the Bruce Springsteen tour. Maybe there's potential for him to do a duet album with Taylor Swift? Now that we have lost Tony Bennett perhaps Dan Ashley will carry the music torch for San Francisco.

  6. Since Dan Ashley is at Outsidelands today perhaps he'll hang around after his set, as musicians do, and get invited to perform with other bands. Would he fit in with the Foo Fighters?

  7. At it's best, local TV news is a godawful business these days and it's only going to get worse as linear broadcasting continues to experience eroding market share. More power to Dan Ashley as he cashes those Disney paychecks while assessing his prospects for a second act. He's earned the privilege .

  8. I'd rather pay a few bucks to hear Dan Ashley than Taylor Swift any day. Now...where can I wait in line for 24 hours just to buy merch?? (Is merchandise too hard to pronounce these days? Even reporters are using it. Pathetic.)

You do you Dan. Forever Young!!! (And still without a contract at ABC 7. Disney who?? lol) Keep on rockin' in the free world...At least it's still somewhat free...for now, i guess.

Prayers for Hawaii, indeed. Maybe Zuck, Oprah and Elon can contribute millions from their gated hilltops aloft the islands. They have more than enough to share and then some. Along with all the other oligarchs who have polluted this planet beyond recognition. Mother Nature is pissed and barfing back at us. So are wildlife in the oceans. Me thinks we've ticked up another notch on the doomsday clock.
