The neal story here is that Kruetz is leaving the dead zone. KGO is part of ABC/Disney's TV station group--the same group that Disney is desperately trying to SELL OFF its stations; again, anyone who is anyone at any ABC station is trying to LEAVE! Get out.
Kruetz was barely here three years. She was nothing special in my world, it's a matter of taste. In the meantime, wake me up when there's real news.
The Comical made it news. I'd like to know who the hell is making these editorial decisions like this one: to put a hidden weekend news anchor's resignation as a big news story? But then again, if it has to do with Covid-19, it's easy for the Comical's reporters to check their Twitter feed and do some "reporting."
ReplyDeleteThat picture.. kinda looks like Frank Summerville
ReplyDeleteOn a good day.
Hey Rich. I know that Liz wasn't one of your favorite people, nor mine either! But I mentioned it to you this morning, because it was local media news, and you are the KING of that! It was just submitting of a local news item. I agree with you totally, regarding Liz Kruetz though. By the way, did you see the NEW weather girl who was on this weekend on KGO? Her name was Shayla something, I think. While she was certainly attractive, she was very annoying while she was doing the weather, because she kept looking at someone beside the camera, and it was SO obvious that it was a major distraction! Thanks Rich, for all you do!
ReplyDeleteMaybe she was looking at her own TV signal. They can't see the board behind them...it's all green screen. So to see where they're pointing, and what they're pointing at, they have to look at an on-air picture, same as you're seeing. They have screens set up on each side of the weather-guesser, plus in front. It's a bit of a trick to look at these screens without appearing to look at these screens. Big stations like KGO used to hire seasoned people who learned to do that stuff back in Ottumwa Iowa, but today they'll take someone off the street who works at the local 7-Eleven.
DeleteI think she was looking at the monitor to see her placement on the green screen - she's not sure of your marks yet. I agree she was attractive but, she had that annoying Kardashian affect - where she elongated her sentence with the last syllable.
DeleteShayla Girardin from KABC via satellite since she was not on set sitting next to Liz. Also the 7 day didn’t say “Shayla’s Outlook.” They used the generic 7 Day from its Livestream “Bay Area Outlook.” I mean No Spencer, Lisa or Frances?
DeleteDrew the other night worked all shifts except the 11pm being taped and he showed up to work the next morning.
Yet at KPIX, they only have 3 people and still manage to not panic and rely on its sister station for a weather person to fill in.
That forecast was taped out of L.A. and sent up to KGO. She's a KABC met...
Delete@231...Bingo...she is in LA by way of Fresno
DeleteLiz who?
ReplyDeleteMSN reported it, I don't get it, she is "small potatoe, spent time @ ABC News, stint @ Sacramento the ABC 7, still small potatoe
ReplyDeleteHey, Dan Quayle. "Potato" has no "e." Lord.
Delete@ 2:12 Ok, obummer
Delete@ 2:12 You're like my auto-correct, irritating, did I spell that right?
Delete@ 2:12 Do you watch the "view" much? So much hate
DeleteBut if any local tv station spells anything wrong on air, you guys have a major hissy fit and longingly opine for the days of Van Amburg, McElhatton, et al when no one EVER made a mistake. What a bunch of hypocrites. Auto correct is there for a purpose. I, for one, am just tired of stupid, vacuous, entitled keyboard warriors. Learn to spell. Take time to proofread. Check your facts. Simple, even for the stupid.
Delete@12:27 Don't wanna
Delete@12:27 Of course you don't.
DeleteThat’s Lez Krautz to you.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe this made the Chron. Slow news day? Before reading the article I thought the anchor leaving would be Dion Lim. This Doesn’t move the needle in any direction
ReplyDeleteOn SFGate and the Chronicle website it said “ABC7 anchor announces on-air she’s leaving!!” I was hoping it would be Kristen Sze, but then I saw it was some lady I’ve never heard of. Oh well…Slow news day I guess!!
ReplyDeleteSandhya Patel, one of their team of "meteorologists," said she doesn't think much of COVID vaccines (and doesn't plan on ever getting any more boosters) during one of their idiotic 4:00 opinion roundtables. She didn't have much evidence to back her opinion, just that she's over it. That's the kind of reporting they want, weather people talking science?
ReplyDeleteI don't plan on getting any more boosters either. I think they're unnecessary. Can you handle that?
DeleteSandhya can do what she wants. Who are you again?
DeleteSounds like Sandhya might be a Trumper, dang they're everywhere.
DeleteWell there you have it, Patel is a Trumpanzee.
Delete@8:56pm.... Yes, we're everywhere! Millions of us. And we love seeing people like you so miserable about it.
Delete@9:32 Please don't trigger @8:56, those wokesters can make life miserable for everyone
Delete@10:43 Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteLiz Kruetz needs to learn to emote. TV news to be presented in a way that connects with the audience. At some level it’s a performance, but her cold flat demeanor never captured me as a viewer. She makes DionBot 3000 seem human and I’m not a fan of her off-putting style either.
ReplyDeleteI like Liz and I'll miss her. When I saw the headline elsewhere I was hoping it was Dion.
ReplyDeleteWelly, welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, well! It appears that there is one less seat on the lifeboat?
ReplyDeleteLiz is a good egg. A pure and curious journalist at heart. It is difficult to find curiosity these days. That's a loss for ABC7. Good luck to you, Liz.
ReplyDeleteKPIX has been running these promos where their new made-up "star," Sara Donchey, talks about how curious she was as a child. Then why does she come across as so damned dumb, I wonder when I listen to her ad-libs with Vern and Paul Haggen.
DeleteSlow news day I never heard of Liz!
ReplyDeleteWas hoping it was Dion when I saw the headline
ReplyDelete@ 5:06 I was hoping it's Empress Ming Sze leaving, I like Dion
DeleteIf only we were so lucky. One of these days the Mickey Mouse Club bosses will get their heads out of their asses and give Dion Lim a swift kiss in the ass, sending her phony ass to the unemployment line.
Delete@7:36 Ok, Empress Ming Sze
DeleteI guess Ming Sze will need a new Minion
ReplyDeleteThis is a serious question. I’ve only ever known of Kristen Sze known as “Kristin,” however, on this blog I frequently see references to “Ming.”
ReplyDeleteIs Ming an inside joke … her real name … or something else?
Ming is her real name. she was born in Taiwan
DeleteAnonymous@823PM; "Ming" is allegedly what Sze insists that people in the newsroom call her there, and from what I read in this most important media blog that Rich puts out, I seem to recall that Ming is her real name.
DeleteDon't forget "Empress"
DeleteThese TV people leaving need to do it with more style and controversy. Like announce they're leaving on a news segment that runs on a competing station. Don't just burn the bridge, blow it up!
ReplyDeleteKruetz didn't get the good hrs, I don't blame her for leaving.
ReplyDeleteLiz an average anchor and reporter. Perhaps Lauren Martinez or Julian Glover will be promoted to weekend morning anchor. The anchor and reporter that had impressed me and would like to see at 12:00 and 4:00 is Karina Nova. She’s really good! More Karina, less Kristen!
ReplyDeleteLiz who?
ReplyDeleteI hope to see more Karina Nova at ABC7. She is an excellent reporter and a very good anchor. She is also cute.
ReplyDeleteYeah, def need more cute girls. That new weather lady with kreutz looks a lot better than the garden slug argen
DeleteI wonder if the Mickey Mouse Club will hire Emma Goss to replace Liz Kruetz. The timing might just work out given that Goss has likely already worn out her welcome at NBC11 and the station is almost certainly looking to dump her ass.
ReplyDeleteI think bailey o’conner from KTVU will replace Liz. She is ready!
