Larry Baer regarded her as his "good-luck" charm as the Giants won three World Series.
That was a few years ago before Amy G was sacked and sent to a PR gig with the Giants.
She's still bitching about it and more so than ever.
She's major pissed off that Larry Baer hasn't hired her back and she misses the glee that is/was her home at Oracle Park. The suits at NBC Sports/Bay Area-Comcast were the guys that told Amy G to take a hike and get lost, largely because most of humankind had become sick of her overly-toothy reports from the stands.
Furhermore, both Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper were happy she was 86ed because they hated her stupid little reports themselves and that they were a detriment to the telecasts.
The vast majority of Giants'fans and Bay Area baseball folks would agree.
Except pissed-off Amy G.
Was never a fan of Amy G, but I can't stand the group they have on "Summer Sundays." Kuiper's kid and Carmen Kiew are just annoying and obnoxious!!
ReplyDeleteMrs Baer is still upset over the iPhone 12 imprinted on her forehead. You could call your Mom from it.
DeleteShe was terrible.
ReplyDeleteFired, or not renewed?
ReplyDeleteMuch prefer Laura Britt.
ReplyDeleteSorry Amy, the world has moved on from your act. These things happen. Ca$hflow, time constraints, availability, all the usual suspects.
ReplyDeleteNo hard feelings, best of luck on becoming the next Butter and Eggs Queen.
As of now, the Giants are on a 98 loss pace. They need to fix the problem or they’ll soon start getting A’s-like attendance
I liked AmyG. Fun person at boring games.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteAmy G was able to skate by with her obtuse segments, visa vi fan interaction and blend into the background during a different time. The whole socio-economic paradigm of paying fans and the game itself has taken on a dramatic shift. The blocks of empty seats speaks volumes.Corporations went under or left town and took their wallets with them. Bitch all she wants, her services are no longer desired by her employer. Shit happens. Get over it and move on!
ReplyDelete“ The whole socio-economic paradigm of paying fans and the game itself has taken on a dramatic shift.”
DeleteHuh?
Different customer base and money used to flow like water during better times.
DeleteWhen Bochey left, she had no more leverage. Don’t think Kapler would be happy sleeping with her like Bochey did
ReplyDeleteKuiper’s kid needs a ton of work. Carmen is weak as well. Out of curiosity, about how much do they get paid? By game? Hourly? Season wage? The common theme with the Giants and broadcasters is they are tanking it. It’s time to move on from Kruk, Kuiper, Marty Laurie and whatever shitty development in the middle of nowhere that he keeps pumping. I like Wotus but when he’s pimping the development you can tell he has no idea where it’s at.
ReplyDeleteThe Giants need to retool. The 9 dollar beer is a joke. You can’t find where they sell it. The whole place is tired. Isn’t this what Baer was hired to do? Do your job Baer!
Bring The Clevelander to Oracle Park. Adult oriented entertainment like they used to have in Miami. Nothing like a pole dance between innings. It can replace The Gotham Club for sure. Nice views and brews there but where the hunnies at?? (Or dudes if you're so inclined.)
DeleteAmy G. was alright. Used to see her around the ballpark often. Always on her next assignment. Tall lady. Made 'The Indian Walter Cronkite' Raj Mathai look like Bruno Mars standing next to her. lol
Not much time for that human interest stuff now with the pitch clock shorter games et all. Always a joy watching Amy in player of the game interviews almost always avoid getting wet during the inevitable Gatorade splashes on field. Boys will be boys!!
The Summer Sundays crew is what it is. An effort to appeal to a younger demographic. Anthony Garcia is pretty cool. And the other woman with the dark hair. Carmen Kiew is like Carlos Ramirez...Not everybody's cup of tea but I don't mind either of them. Out there on their hustle. More power to 'em.
Why would a baseball team tank? It's not like high draft picks really help that much.
DeleteOnly soccer moms miss Amy G and I'm sure many of them got tired of her act
ReplyDeleteNot one person i know liked her. Talk about self worth
ReplyDeleteMy wife liked Amy G. She felt that Amy G gave the broadcast an appeal separate from Kruk and Kuip.
ReplyDeleteI agree. And I am not your wife.
DeleteScrew all of this rubbish. What ever happened to just the game? Now it's all about these cutesie-pie interviews. The Giants aren't the only team doing this nonsense on game telecasts. Everyone does it. That's the sad part. Amy G should be happy she's getting G and has a job. Shut it sweetie. Grin and bear it. Believe me, there are many brain dead people who'd gladly like to be in your shoes.
ReplyDeleteLong time giant fan..we thought she was good. Not a fake sports reporter and another perspective besides the all boys club
ReplyDelete6:04 She's a tremendous phony. Whatever you're smoking I want some
DeletePitch clock means less time for inane chatter (ie Amy G). No Room No Time Gotta Go!
ReplyDeleteI was at a game once and told her about a group of bridesmaids and brides all dressed up with veils that she might showcase…..Boy did I get an icy stare. Looks like most people have seen thru her act….
ReplyDeleteWe had a similar experience with her. She wants to be recognized yet dismisses anyone who acknowledges her.
DeleteAnyone but Carmen Kiew!!!!
ReplyDeleteWho wants to listen to her ask a nine year old girl how it felt to meet Joey Bart, WHILE the game is in progress?
ReplyDeleteCertainly don't need a "reporter-in-the-stands" when nobody is going to the games
ReplyDeleteAmy never should have had that job. Zero chops. She’s better suited in the team’s marketing department, which needs all the help it can get.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the other night Sara Donkey wore an ankle-length skirt with slits pretty much up to her butt cheeks.
ReplyDeleteMade you look!
DeleteI saw that! #AttentionSeekingBehavior
DeleteLarry Baer's wife - Help, somebody help!
ReplyDeleteOnce you start losing everything after is just a giant shit show.
ReplyDeleteAmy G was a waste of space on those Giants broadcasts. "Let's go out to left field to see Amy G reporting on the Crazy Crab Sandwich and those Baby Bull Cha-Cha Bowls! Amy?" We all hated her SPED reports and that they brought down the intelligence of the telecasts. Hey Amy! Go try your tired act over at the Coliseum with A's fans.
ReplyDeleteSnarky, entitled white woman with a fake persona. Nah. Nothing to see here.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you talk shit about Julie Haener? Her little Johnny plays football.
DeleteMom! Is that you?
Delete6:01 LOL!!!
DeleteAmy has a lady boner for Kapler. Check out her "Night - Kap" interviews w Kapler on you tube where they drink scotch together as she fawns all over him.
ReplyDeleteI am a Marty Lurie fan. Encyclopedic knowledge, great history lessons, book reviews, and honest, real, succinct assessment of the Giants’ talents or lack thereof.
ReplyDeleteAmy G was fluff. I did not dislike her, but I never came away feeling like I learned something. (Kind of like listening to Tolb N Copeland, “I hear a lotta choppin’, but I don’t see any chips flyin’”)
Amy G it seemed like the players liked her, and she was light hearted , she was breaking any news stories by that is not why she was their
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to do an exposé, “The Rise and Fall of Amy G-String”
ReplyDelete“Amy G-string”
DeleteI haven’t heard that nickname in over a decade! In the early 2010’s I worked at the ballpark for a few years. It was always a treat to run into Amy G. I still remember how sexy she would dress.
Ans just when I was getting old enough to think she is sexy, as she has sexed it up about 10% she's outta here.
ReplyDeleteAny G. has a huge ego and after getting that gig with the Giants, acted as if she was the best thing that ever happened to the Giants’ TV broadcasts. You would have thought she would have improved over the years but her annoying, teenage sounding voice and valid questions such as: “ Buster, what was going through your mind as you rounded the bases?” were bad enough, but then constantly having her interrupt the broadcasts with her throwaway interviews with some breathless fan was even more annoying. Larry Baer probably wanted her in there because she enthusiastically promoted all of the “wonderful” things the Giants were doing in the community. Good riddance!
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone dumping on poor Amy G, the belle of Petaluma? I guess she must be missed. Maybe she can shine at the Little League games.
ReplyDeleteThat’s about hiwcgiid she is, right? Covering Petaluma Littke league. As far as “ dumping on poor Amy G” when you are on the air in one off “”the country’s top media markets, working on a big league broadcast, you better sound like you know what you’re doing, and that your on air presentation is at a high level. ‘Amy G,’ ( what kind of a lame handle is that?) sounded like a minor league quality announcer at best. She repeatedly asked stupid questions because she seemed to know nothing about baseball. She had sn annoying nasal voice, ( she obviously never took public speaking classes in school,) and tried to interact with Kruk and Kuip who were not thrilled with her constant interruptions. In short, she was a waste and the reason she lasted over a decade on the broadcasts was that Larry Baer was being politically correct by hiring a woman reporter. But Amy G. gave women sports reporters a bad name. Laura Britt is MUCH better.
ReplyDeleteShe was toast when she started with her Joey Bart interviews.
ReplyDeleteHer slow Michigan accent : "hi, Joey Bart, how ya doin there kiddo".
Bart with chew under his lip: you know just hangin' baby girl. Loving life.
