If there was a state of emergency for the group, they'd be right there. And make no bones, all face a critical time not just within their own internal mess but viewers alike.
November Sweeps and all.QUICK HITS:
I heard through the grapevine the 49ers' broadcast hierarchy were not so amused with NBC Sports Bay Area Niners host, Carlos Ramirez' dresssing up as a dragon on the pregame Oct. 30th broadcast.Ramirez' hyjinks, ostensibly to show Halloween spirit, was once again a visual display of selfishness and massive "look at me!"--I saw the misfit live and I just shook my head. Ramirez is a shaneless self-promoter who is lucky to have a boss who is more than willing to give him multiple passes.
*The fact that 810 AM (formerly KGO) is taking listeners away from KNBR is a DELICIOUS IRONY! KNBR's lousy ratings in the last book is an indictment on their meager programming and a reflection of LOUSY direction from an inept PD, Kevin Graham.*MORNING MILDEW on Bay Area radio: Tuesday was not a good morning on Bay Area radio (whats left of it); KNBR Morning Show was its usual disaster; KCBS and its dreary, DULL, AM drive anchor, Melissa Culross, with 5000 commercials and all, sounded like crap and that's all I could stomach.
*I wish I could endorse a place (other than KQED) a radio outlet for Election night coverage; I can't. The monopoly KCBS is not fit to serve with below average reporters, non-interesting commentary and analysis and overall anchor crappola. Sorry, not my cup of tea.
I'll flip around the TV cable universe and go to local to various local TV News web portals --it's not my favorite but radio here is DEAD.

ReplyDeleteYou are1001% right on KCBS AM drive Rich. This is a total shit show. From what this station use to be and what it is now...I have no words.
Radio is not dead Rich, middle of the road talk radio is dead.
ReplyDeleteHow long can KNBR continue like this? I heard the Giants want out and looking to go to another station. It's like Smurph & Smack, Lund, Tolbert and cackling Copeland along with creepy lechirous Frank- Paul are a drift in the SF Bay like 6 men in a tub. Kevin Graham has his Brandon Belt Cap'n Hat on trying to steer a sink station. Cumulus! Do the smart thing and put this pathetic excuse for a "Sports Talk Radio Station" out of it's misery.
ReplyDeleteKNBR should bring back Frank and Mike for an hour everg day.
DeleteThe “talent” on morning radio is reflected in the abysmal ratings.
ReplyDeleteI’m in need of a good laugh today so I’ll watch ktvu's ‘coverage’ of the election. Surely they’ll find new ways to embarrass themselves as they put on a sad attempt at journalism.
ReplyDeletemeager programming yup yep sure um -hmm yup yep yeah uh huh um hummm.right here on tolbert and copes !
ReplyDeleteBesides for traffic on 740 I only listen to Sirius XM music channels. Grateful Dead and Springsteen channels make my drive way more tolerable.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for XM satellite radio. I barely even listen to KCBS anymore; only 960 Bloomberg that even still has spot on traffic reports. Sometimes Bloomberg tends to be a little repetitive so we switch to XM as long as we’re in the car that has it.
DeleteBut traffic that can easily also be checked from my phone/Apple Car Play depending on what route I’m going on.
I switched off KNBR and The Game LOOOOooong ago...in favor of streaming between a rotation of "Greenie" on ESPN, Dan Patrick, and Dan Le Batard. These three shows are fantastically excellent...and funny as hell.
ReplyDeleteIt’s Sad to see how far Bay Area Radio has fallen. They continue hire goofballs and people who sound like they just came in off the street. And the people who run the stations, , people such as Lee Hammer, (who believe it or not is still around,) Kevin Graham and Jennifer Seelig are all clueless. They seem to favor bringing people from Manteca or Modesto rather than season fries. Probably because companies such as Cumulus and Audacy have told them they can only pay a certain amount of money so they get the eager m-beaver newbies from the minor leagues And watching the nightly news on television isn’t much better. How San Francisco went from one of the most respected media Markets in the country To a playground for minor-league posers is still one of the great mysteries
ReplyDeleteMore Carmen Kiew covering Niners games, Warriors games, and the Sharks. Her segment can be called "Kiew on This". But she'll just end up telling us about her make believe boyfriend Brandon Belt and how the Giants need to sign him and not Aaron Judge as a free agent because Belt is the best while she chucks her lipsticks at anyone who disagrees.
DeleteI've enjoyed the new KGO on the weekends - instead of listening to recorded NY shows I can listen to an acutal game while driving.
ReplyDeleteMelissa Culross is the absolute worst....the epitome of annoying in so many ways......please, find another job!!
ReplyDeleteThat Carlos is a class a clown. Because of him, I no longer watch the show. His whole demeanor rubs me the wrong way. I feel much better now that I got that off my chest!!
ReplyDeleteCarlos Ramirez is an Unwatchable Bozo…. I stopped watching the Giants Postgame Because of Him and Haven’t watched the Niners since the first one…. They should put Rod Brooks in Ramirez’s Spot and get another Former player in there who actually knows what they are talking about….
ReplyDeleteI believe both Brooks and Ramirez have stirred someone's passion at nbc, because it's obvious the higher ups find them both irresistible and insightful..
DeleteUnwatchable bozo has GOT to be the funniest line ever LMAO
Delete810AM (Formerly KGO). They changed call letters?????
