KPIX, this would be an incredible hire; you too KTVU but I'm dreaming here--The Firm ran out of no-brainer idea years ago.

Tuesday Quick Flash: Former Bay Area Star Anchor, Marla Tellez, Might Want To Escape Fox KTTV And Head Back Home
IF word on street (and my LA spies) are correct, former Bay Area anchor, (NBC Bay Area) MarlaTellez (she left in 2014) is homesick and would yearn to come back to the Bay Area, anyone interested?

I know it’s wishful thinking but if ktvu management had any brains they’d pick up Tellez to replace the old and haggard Latinas they currently have on the roster. Roberta and Rosemary look like they’ve aged about 10 years in the past two years. Show both of them the door and bring in Tellez. A younger hotter addition to the weather team would be a major upgrade.
ReplyDeleteTellez doesn't do weather. She is a bona fide anchor. But 'my sources' tell me she loves LA. I highly doubt she would come back to SF Bay Area.
DeleteCorrect, but under the new ktvu model, anyone there is expected to do any job. They’ve already had reporters fill in on weather so it wouldn’t come as a shock if they asked a beautiful woman like Marla Tellez to be a utility player.
DeleteI have watched Marla in the Bay Area and in LA, I have also seen her do weather here on Fox11. However, I don't ever recall her doing sports.
DeleteIs Mike Mibach still making strange jokes about wearing a jock strap under his suit to a certain female on the ktvu production staff? Ordinarily I’d say he needs to shape up pronto, but based on this photo of Tellez she might actually enjoy that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteI used to work at ktvu back when Mibach did mornings and I’m not at all surprised that he’s still making ‘jokes’ like this. I never heard him talk about wearing a jock strap specifically but he was known to make creepy off-color remarks that made women feel uncomfortable. One example: we ran a story about exercise and heart health. The b-roll video during the story included a man doing jumping jacks. Mibach used the opportunity to ask us (all females) how it works when females to jumping jacks. He was specifically talking about our chests.

ReplyDeleteMarla to KTVU would be a major overhaul in the mornings. Yes a fresh breath of air but not under Amber’s watch. They tried that “Good Day,” format after the FOX takeover. That was an epic fail forcing Tori and Sal to dance and giggle and cringe worthy hearing E-40 or Too Short for commercial break music.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been watching the new KBCW morning show. At least they have some personality and decent banter. It’s not the KGO wannabe KTLA circus that’s for sure but does give me a chuckle here and there during my 7-9am viewing time.
Marla has brains and beauty. Reports the news coherently and would be a major boost to Bay Area news. I think NBC 11 should tell Raj to kick rocks along with his "mistress" of the dark and all those 9am hotel team building "meetings" with Janelle. FP, Papa & Lund are curious if they can just sit in the corner and watch. Creepy!

ReplyDeleteMY sources tell me (and I'm talking KTTV'ers...and a cousin of hers I know and who lives up here) that Marla absolutely LOVES L-A and all that goes with being young, pretty, and (relatively) wealthy. She does hate KTTV...but the cousin tells me Marla would get bored up here.
I remember her final broadcast on NBC 11 where she said she's from the Bay Area and will be back.
ReplyDeleteThe frumpy and grumpy Broomhildas, aka the gossip girls (Pam Crock and GASia) wouldn’t be able to control their bitterness and jealously if ktvu hired Tellez. They’d do everything in their power to make her experience as miserable as possible.

Tellez is the real deal; she's a solid anchor and would seem to be the heiress apparent to Christine Devine, who has been at the ten p.m. spot at KTTV longer than any other current anchor in his/ her position in the market -- like over a quarter of a century. Marla fills in at ten a lot, FOX 11 was rumored to be axing the noon newscast she anchors. She's a big asset to the station, which is last I heard without a permanent GM and ND, so who knows.
