Buster Posey -SF Giants Ownership News Is Team's De Facto Pursuit of NY Yankees' Aaron Judge

THAT BUSTER POSEY presser--ostensibly, to announce his ownership stake, was far BIGGER and profound and a lot more compelling. I don't cover the team but I have enough mental gumption.

Forget Posey's 1% (or a tad smaller or bigger) share of the team, that's not the gist of the news; this is (and I'm surprised the brain-dead reporters didn't inquire as much)--

The Posey move is the first sign of the Giants' organizational attempt to recruit Aaron Judge to SF.

The means to pull off such a move is far more about money. That's the least of it because the Giants have more than enough financial prowess to pull off landing Judge --and even the Yankees have limitations there. They've already said as much.

It doesn't mean Judge is gonna leave NY but it also indicates the Giants are gonna give an all-out full court press to woo him to the Bay Area and Posey's role will be significant. Judge himself respects Posey and it's no coincidence the Giants ownership is aware of that.

This is a strategic move. It is the early recruitment of NorCal-bred Judge and Posey will captain the ship. Doesn't mean it will work but there's 50 million reasons plus a few Poseys why it could.

You read it here first.

  1. I can see that happening. Judge's favorite player growing up was #35 Rich Aurilia. He's local and why the Hell not! After this year they know they have to bring in 'Star" power and appeal. Marketing, get on those Orange and Black judges robes like yesterday!

    3. He is not playing with the Giants Giants fans think EVERY one will LOVE Frisco... It's a dumpster fire

  2. Can you imagine the outrage of Yankees fans if that happens?

  3. Should make Buster the next GM. Looks like his mentoring of Joey Bart is paying off as well. That Rockies runner was tagged out on his hand before he touched the plate last night. Nice play Joey! Go Giants!

    1. Yes he was! I was having my doubts about Bart. He has matured significantly, personally and professionally. The Giants were basically at an impasse with him and he stepped up big time! Go Giants!

  4. C'mon, folks. As much as this would be great....it ain't gonna happen. Judge clearly loves being in NYC. And GM Brian Cashman would be crucified if he were to let Judge go.

I can't stand the Yankees. BUT...they Yanks can easily sign Judge by shedding the following free agents:
Chapman ($16 million salary in 2022)
    Rizzo ($16 million)
    Benitendi ($8 million)
Donaldson ($8 million buyout after this year)
    Britton ($14 million)

    He's not going anywhere.
Actually, I think the Mets are a MUCH bigger threat than the Giants.

  5. You know “Murph” is counting down the days until he can resume sniffing Posey’s jock strap.

    1. LOL!!! Murph is still hoping that one day Posey will give a shit about the intro he wrote for that overpriced photo book thing.

  6. @1:53. Agree. If he were to sign in SF there would be a lot less endorsement deals coming his way. There’s a reason Jeter never left the Yankees during his playing days.

  7. The Giants forget that while Barry Steroids got them attention, they got ZERO World Series titles during his reign as head jerk. Let them sign Aaron Judge. They'll soon be painfully reminded that baseball isn't like tennis. It's a team game.

  8. As a former working stiff, I have a hard time rooting against anyone getting a raise. But when I hear about ballplayers making half a Billion dollars, I cringe a little. Yes their skills are off the charts, and their career is brief, and the owners are making even more money - but even a MLB/NFL rookie makes more in 2 years than I did in 40 years. As Babe Ruth told reporters after they told him he “was making more than the PRESIDENT!” Ruth replied, “I had a better year!”
All this is to say that I can’t relate to insanely rich athletes. While I admire their skills, they live in a different world than I.
Analytics backfired on the Giants this year. Kapler is no Bochy, and the team batting average of .209 proves the Giants need much much more than one power-hitter.

  10. Many baseball player contracts are back loaded with annuity style payments each year, sometimes for 20 years. Posey's small ownership share is very likely in lieu of one or some of those payments.. For example, each July 1, Bobby Bonilla gets $1.2 million deposited into his bank account, all based on his final contract with thhe NY Mets.

  11. LOL Judge isn't coming to the Giants.

  12. Giants have little cache marketing wise around the US let alone internationally. They won those titles but not much carryover or longevity image wise or anything else except in the bay area.
Their image is forever negatively linked with steroids though Bonds.
Face it Giants ..you're not in the same zone as the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and Cubs. Judge won't be a Giant.

  13. Steve Moskowitz, the wealthiest fella this side of larry baer, should put his Eitc assets, and john rothmans romantic biography of alf landon and buy in as well

    1. Hmmm KGO doesn’t broadcast the Giants and yet a Rothman /Moskowitz comment even though plenty of that content throughout the week. Stick to the post please. We get it you hate KGO. Can I declassify comments by just thinking about it?

  14. Got up this morning, turned on the radio to KCBS. Heard two stories on the covid vaccine. Then a story about tomato water helping the drought. More on fall being dangerous with fires coming. Then climate change. As soon as I heard sports and traffic I turned the station off but not before I heard another terrible KARS FOR KIDS ad. The haranging of their leftist, liberal, woke content is awful.

  15. Good message to send to a free agent that you might be able to get partial ownership down the line.

  16. Judge is NOT coming to the Giants. You can take that to the bank. It's simply not going to happen. And if one more person tries to insist that coming from Fresno makes him "local" I'm going to throw something.

  17. He's to much of a gamble. To injury -prone. This team is in shambles, spend that money on a few good players

  18. Oh Puh-Leeze !! Leftist Liberal Media? What drugs are you taking? All the networks are owned by the Ultra-Rich: #1, Rupert Murdoch.
These TOP 100th of the 1% tell us what to think, what to buy, what to blame everything on. They scream about illegal aliens so that the masses don’t catch on that the Ultra Rich are stealing everything. They BOUGHT the US Supreme Court (Federalist Society, a subsidiary of Koch Inc).
Of course the uneducated blame the media for all their problems, because they are too busy watching TV than actually get educated.
Left leaning liberal media my ass, WHO IS TELLING YOU WHAT TO THINK???🤷🏼‍♂️
