*Quick take on Estes: says absolutely nothing (most of the time) and when he's critical, it's often just pure for show. He's basically lame and vanilla.
*With the Carlos Rodon incident making headlines, it's comforting to know not any of the Giants' broadcast crew mentioned the incident (gave it barely a passing mention)-- on the "post-game" wrap Tuesday Night on KNBR. And all the gang knew and saw the incident. State radio at its best.
*Eric Thomas returned to the KCBS anchor chair Tuesday morning with co-anchor, Melissa Culross, and the latest wack-a-mole anchor policy was in full effect at the shambles factory that used to be a news powerhouse. Mediocrity? Hell no, abject FAILURE is the mantra at KCBS.
*The KGO Radio producer, John Daly, us being watched by fellow talk hosts because of an incident in which he (Daly) and a bud at KGO, eavesdropped (again) on a host (again) who was unaware that Daly was listening in and when confronted by the boss, Daly just reacted like he was just doing "his thing." Daly is only at KGO because they needed a body and he raised his hand.
*KGO used to be a newstalk station; now it plays PSAs, runs mostly remnents ads and has a tax guy advertiser call in endlessly --acting as a caller--to talk about "EEE=R-CEE"-lovely radio.
*Trixie Watkowski, the ND at Circle7 (ABC7/KGO-TV) is once again sending out resumes because she's either splitting KGO or has become bored with her job running KGO's news and kissing the ass of Ming Sze and others at 900 Front.
Sze is busy a lot lately, maybe time for a new petition.
*At the KRON garage on Front Street, a producer was coming to work and saw an envelope near the elevator --it had $300 in cash in it--the producer turned the cash over to security and it was recovered by a KGO intern who lost it.
Hey, wait a minute, bashing tax guy Steve Moskowitz's commercials is off base. I mean Moskowitz's spots are one of the few KGO commercials where the service or product is not taking customers to the cleaners. I've heard nothing about anyone getting taken.
ReplyDeleteCompare that to the MASSIVE inappropriate damage done to those who buy into Doug Andrews - 3 Dimensional Wealth and his Laser Fund... Telling seniors they may get 61% returns with ZERO market risk. Just cash in all your IRA's and 401K's today and give the money to Doug Andrews...and never have to pay taxes again (in the future).
Not to mention Balance of Nature commercials where seniors pay well over $100 a month for 4 grams a day, of plain dehydrated produce. (4 grams = 1/7 th of one ounce)
KGO.... "Keep Fleecing Oldsters"
Stay away from Steve Moskowitz!!!!
DeleteMing Sze should be the one leaving, disgusted by her long looks and nasty smile = Cruella from 101 Dalmations also from Disney owning ABC 7
ReplyDeleteActually there's this professional dominatrix named "Goddess Mikki" (don't ask me how I know this) and Sze looks so much like her I wonder sometimes if she has a side hustle...
DeleteRich, please stop with the kvetching about the tax guy. I learn more from him than from KGO’s afternoon host and her producer combined. I just wish I still had employees so I could get one of those juicy IRS bailout checks.
ReplyDeleteFP Santangelo on the post Giants radio show on KNBR spoke about the Rodon incident for one hour and he went into lengthy detail
ReplyDeletewith washington....he was with wwe.... THE ULTIMATE HOMER.
DeleteWhy does Sze have so much clout at ABC 7 that she gets to treat everyone badly? Is she sleeping with someone there?
ReplyDelete25 yrs she knows where the bodies are buried and is a spy for the bosses
DeletePerhaps Lund could do 20 minutes talking about our car warranties?
ReplyDeletewhy all the attacks on John Daly? He's very bright and is a terrific producer when he has talent to match his skills. Think Gene Burns, not his current assignment, who is neither smart, well-read, nor interesting..
ReplyDeleteJohn coached Kim on his own time when they asked her to fill-in as a talk show host. He also took a huge pay cut to come back to help KGO, but real change can only come from the Program Director.
DeleteAt least he had the sense to ask for reassignment and ditch the morning show, before the rest of us were let go. Putting lipstick on a pig will not solve fundamental problems.
When Estes played for the Mets he was pitching against Roger Clemons at Shea vs Yankees. Bobby Valentine wanted Estes to drill Clemons when he came to bat as retaliation for Clemons beaning Mike Piazza in the head in a previous game. Estes threw a lollipop curve going about 45mph behind Clemons. Ever since then he’s been a wussy in my book.
ReplyDeleteJohn isn't any more of an imbecile than the brain dead leftist callers that regularly call into Pat Thurston or John Rothmann's shows.
ReplyDeleteHe was a vocal proponent of the Chesa Boudin recall. Seems pretty moderate to me, unlike Bret Burkhart with his head permanently lodged up Newsom’s behind.
DeleteIf I have to choose, I'd rather hear the carpet advertisements than the EEE ERRRR CCCCC.
ReplyDeletethey've been using the same weird couple on the s and g carpet ads for years.. and you might be shocked to know stevey moskowitz does their taxes too along with pat thurstons best friend "sherod"
DeleteMike Krukow spoke at some length about the bat kicking incident on TV. Said it was uncalled for on any team, and players doing stunts like this should be penalized in some way.
ReplyDeleteYes I was watching the game , Krukow actually went on for a few minutes on how stupid this was and uncalled for and saying sorry to a teammate won't work this time, surprised on his candor and he bashed the guy for a few minutes.
DeleteWhat is all the complaining about the advertisers have to do with anything? People who are in this forum our P1+++ users of radio. We listen much longer than "normal" listeners. The average listener is in and out in 12 to 22 minutes. They don't know and don't care how many times per day the "tax guy" runs ads anywhere. These are not non-profit public radio stations. Ad dollars are very hard to come by in this very splintered market. If an advertiser wants to spend money, you take it. A bill is pending in Congress to allow cannabis based businesses to advertise on broadcast stations. When that happens, you will be praying for the return of tax and injury lawyers because it will be "all weed, all the time"!
ReplyDeleteYeah, along with all the booze and cigarette ads.
DeleteJohn Lund's kid got one hit his Sr. year and Greg Papa drops his son off at BART to go to work. Lol
ReplyDeleteProducers at KGO can only influence talent and PDs. They’re in a support role and adapt to their host (read: they make the best of a situation). The host has final say on everything, unless the PD gets involved, which is rare.
ReplyDeleteNBC has a real problem with these no-talent, minor league hacks on their pre and post game shows. These programs are only shameless advertising for the local teams. They rarely give you much insight, but idiots such sc Carlos Ramirez make the Giants pre game and post game shows totally unpalatable. A good alternative for Ramirez would be Ryan Leong. Leong is fast, funny and hard working. He is also well reapected by his peers. Ryan covers more games than any other local newspaper, Internet, radio or TV reporter. My prediction is that they’ll fire Carlos Ramirez and hire Ryan Leong. Firing Ramirez will be an unpopular move with Latino viewers, but hiring Leong will improve the Asian audience. Plus they could offer Leong $30-40 thousand dollars and he’d take that in a heartbeat.,
ReplyDeleteThey can call it Kiewing the Fat with Carmen and Ryan... We need to get Carmen off the air! She is horrible. Stop gravy training free attendance to all home games Carmen! YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER OF THE MEDIA!
DeleteGreat idea! Ryan is a no nonsense guy and professional. I’d definitely tune in to watch if he was on air.
DeleteAnd, he looks great in his Starter jackets.
Delete12:09 AM, are you Ryan Leong's agent? Or mother? Or Ryan himself? Get off it.
DeleteJohn Lund is an idiot who has limited sports knowledge if at all with his frat boy, know-it-all and creepy sexual innuendos ALL THE TIME! Hey John & horrible PD... Do better!
ReplyDeleteNone of the KNBR “hosts” are quick on their feet, when they need to stretch out to fill dead time, they start talking food and or pets. I often wonder if I am listening to “Check Please Bay Area”, or to sports radio?! Brian Murphy proves a degree from UCLA can be earned by a Moron, and Paulie has proved time after time that he knows nothing about music. Copes is that giddy Frat Rat who laughs like an adolescent stoner at anything has been jock Tolbert tosses out.
ReplyDeleteNOBODY CARES about what you or your cat ate, nor do we care about your little league managing prowess. College and NFL football are about to start and all they can come up with is “where will Jimmy G go?” Pathetic
KNBR THEE SHEE-TAY LEADER!!
7.44am. Spot on. Thanks for the note.
ReplyDeleteRyan Leong needs to stop writing anonymous comments.
ReplyDeleteWhy is that found $300 news???
ReplyDeleteestes has improved--he no longer is a yuh yuh guy when he started.he cleaned up the act.he doesbetter descriptions tthan the casual distracted miller mumblings. miller didnt give the score after d backs home run. Giants not getting ''RBI's'', theyre getting ''RBI''...Rodon Bat Incident''...RBI!
ReplyDeleteAnybody else notice that for decades all broadcasters (and umpires) called balls outside or inside, and now both Miller and Flemming say off-the-outside or off-the-inside, and strikes are on-the-outside or on-the-inside. Where did this come from?
ReplyDeleteFeel K&K are more critical of the Giant's poor play on their Murph and Mac segments now they are no longer traveling with the team.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed for a few months that Raj Mathai has not been wearing his wedding ring. Janelle Wang is something else. She can't get anybody (don't think she's yet remarried) so she has to latch on to someone else's husband. Pathetic.
ReplyDeleteRaj Mathei is a hack, fooling around with Janelle Wang when he's a married man. But, alas, he hasn't worn his wedding band for awhile, so guess all bets are off that he'll refrain from anything "inappropriate".
