KGO Radio Essentially Abandons News-Talk to Talk About Lifestyle BS

KGO (Radio) has once again discovered that they pretty much suck in talking about news of the day; issues like Joe Biden's poll numbers; the economy; international affairs; the Middle East; all that and then some. Moreover, KGO hardly ever now even mentions local topics. Outside of a Rothmann (John) chat about the inane SF School Board, KGO doesn't even do "live and Local" on a consistent basis.

KGO seems to be back on that BS, "lifestyle" topic which is nothing news-talk. The old KGO red meat centered on top-of-news-domain chatter and it's a GONER now. KGO, especially the morning-drive yenta, would rather discuss the pithy matter of "what's your favorite Starbucks coffee"--I'm generalizing, but if you listen to this crap, you know what I mean.

  1. Chip has a hard time being "live and local" broadcasting from San Diego.

  2. They wouldn't report on Biden's abysmal poll numbers any more than they would report on the intense dislike nationally of his VP, better known as Willie Brown's former side piece.

I would love to see them report on the Yahoo front page article today about how the Democrats feed their followers one thing but do the complete opposite. One example, their claims of raising taxes on the rich. "The Biden administration also agreed to pull a proposed tax in late October targeting 700 billionaires after it faced criticism from a number of top Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California". Who keeps electing these morons? They're no better than the other side. They only care about 1 thing, power.

  3. I don't listen anymore. KGO used to be my all day, at least until Ray Taliaferro was on, destination radio. No way I even turn to it anymore.

  4. I don't know who is worse, KGO hosts or Steve Moskowitz. He talks like he is curing cancer.

    1. How can you forget Kars4Kids? I change the station every time it comes on, which is every 20 minutes.All.Day.And.All.Night.Long.

    2. Fake commercial with Rothman. There is nothing to listen to on kgo. Rothman is so insipid he turns my stomach. The noon to 3. Pat whatever is a screecher. I'm sad to say there is nothing to listen to. The listed two above were the only ones we listed to. Not anymore. I heart radio affords me better selection. If they get rid of everyone and start anew, I may return to kgo, a station I have listened to for over 50 years.

  5. I haven't listened to KGO for years. Being retired I don't drive much and don't need to hear them or KCBS. I'd call that good timing.

  6. Fantastic Rothmann show tonight on all of the Democrat corruption in San Francisco politics. Federal indictments are apparently coming. Morons keep electing morons.

  7. I don't think this is correct. I agree that some host do more lifestyle, mostly Mark Thompson and Nikki. Nikki although she does comment on some serious news, is for the most part annoying, her voice grates on me, and she does talk a lot about herself, and what she likes and don't like, she is terrible at engaging callers, any slight disagreement she cuts them off. I like Mark Thompson better, he has a great voice, his show is a mix of lifestyle, and politics and what is in the news, some of his regular guests, such as David Cay Johnson and others are interesting and informative. I often like Mark's opinion on different subjects. Pat does not do a lot of lifestyle, she tends to do politics and local issues. Chip does a lot of politics and what currently is in the news. I think both Chip and Mark are back in the Bay Area, perhaps for a short time, Mark mentioned he and Brett went to dinner in San Francisco, and Chip said something about being stuck in traffic on the Bay Bridge. All in all I think KGO is so much better than when the went to mostly news and they had some awful hosts such as Frosty, I think was his name and Tim Montemayor. Of course they are not what they were in there hayday, but except for Nikki their hosts are listenable if you are stuck in the car and doing housework.

    1. I don't think Frosty was on KGO. He was on Talk 910 (which has since dissolved). I kinda liked him. Thought he was pretty funny and clever. I agree about Tim Montemayor. God he was annoying. Always hyping a "big" story like it was an earth shattering event, when it was usually a big yawn.

    2. Yes you are right, the guy on KGO I was thinking of was Drex, I think, he was so awful, even though I commuted from Concord to Palo Alto for work, I would listen to right wing radio, news or music. I worked retail, so often I drove home at 9 at night. Montemayor biggest problem was he was an intellectual light weight, and he often misrepresented the story to fit his narrative, a lot of hosts does that, right or left, but he wasn't very clever about it. I listened to Frosty a few time, don't think I was that impressed, he also was mostly lifestyle if I remember correctly.

  8. It definitely is sort of situation irony. After the evil infrastructure deed was done in DC on Friday in the midnight hours, on the following Monday show John Rothmann completely ignored the topic. Seems like the first item on the dock Monday at 6 pm should have been how the progressives got the shaft by the Democratic corporatists, Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, when they figured out a way using GOP corporatists to bypass the progressives and decouple the infrastructure for the rich from the infrastructure for the 99%. I have to say, it's interesting. Very, very interesting. Certainly got my attention.

  9. John talked a lot about the infrastructure deal. No matter what subject he chooses some listener thinks he should have talked about something else. You can't please everyone.

  10. Pat T. is the reason I stopped listening to KGO after some 40+ years. I cant remember a guest on her program who might disagree with her views. She does not like to be challenged. How hard is that job? She is rash in her judgment and comes off pretty hateful at times. That said, I get it that it's her show but I just think especially in todays world as divided as we Americans are, she is not helping to make things better. Just the opposite.
