Fake Outrage on KGO Radio; Rodgers Baits Pat Thurston; Shtick Run Amok

EARLIER ON FRIDAY, I was listening to Pat Thurston's KGO program; a program I very much like and have written positively about. If you read me, and many of you do; many of you, regular KGO listeners.

During the middle of the last hour, Thurston became BAITED by news guy, Paul Rodgers, a nincompoop I rarely write about and was only going to mention him today, barely, because Rodgers is pretty much a faker.

Rodgers was belittling the whole Capitol Hill attack and saying the mob and their nefarious  actions were overblown and grossly overcalculated. I'm paraphrasing, but that was Rodger's take. He enraged Thurston and to the point of her (Pat) taking him to task. I'd link the screaming but now I'm very much annoyed.

The whole thing appears to be shtick. How so?

KGO has now twice, used a promo highlighting the back and forth between herself and Rodgers. Twice. On the same days, just a few house after it took place on the KGO air.

Schtick.

I don't think Thurston would kowtow to schtick. I think she was sincerely pissed off at the nincompoop Rodgers, the schmuck who was more interested in BAITING her. Rodgers didn't fool me. Especially now.

  1. That wasn’t shtick. I used to work with Pat and she’s genuine. He clearly hijacked the show and there’s bound to be fall out. He’s said numerous times that he’s a libertarian and he used the word “allegedly” to describe Trump’s encouragement of supporters. As for the promos, I’ll give you a hint: There’s more than one conservative “voice” over there.

  2. Well, it doesn't take much to send thursten into a hysterical frenzy. She is outraged, angry, disgusted, livid, (enter expletive) etc. on any subject she chooses. It's old, worn out, and hard to take seriously anymore. Not surprised on your take of this broadcast.

  3. Pat was sincere.
    Rodgers no.
    My opinion, you can disagree.

  4. I’ve worked with him. He’s conservative and has no interest or motivation to boost her ratings. I’m sure he’d rather be on KSFO. His pro-business and anti-tax bias is apparent in his reporting if you pay attention. He was out of bounds and is going to get an earful. You could verify that with Pat or John.

  5. The same guy does promos on KSFO. It’s not difficult to put two and two together.

  6. From what I've seen Pat has never met a liberal idea she didn't embrace. She seems more guided by ideology than critical thought. A prominent example is her frequent loony anti-nuclear power guest (forgot his name). She seems to rarely have guests who challenge her point of view, which validates her opinion but makes for disappointing talk radio.

I don't know much about Paul Rodgers, but I did hear him challenge her once on a claim she was making about an incident being racially motivated. Paul asked her how she knew it was racially motivated, and she really couldn't come up with any evidence, and seemed rather flummoxed by the question. Apparently, the fact that the victim was black and the perpetrator was white was enough evidence for her.

    1. *NEWS FLASH* She’s a liberal, just like you’re most likely a conservative. A healthy democracy allows for healthy debate. Call her up and challenge her. To suggest that she’s not a critical thinker just because you have different political views is nonsense. She’s very intelligent and articulate.

  7. Having been out all day, I didn't know anything about the Capitol riot until the next morning. After listening to all the outrage and talk of a history, I was a little underwhelmed when I saw it was basically just a bunch of yokels from a Virginia trailer park. To be blunt, these sad people are just dumb, poor and powerless and don't know how else to express themselves. Throw the book at them and let's just get on with life.
