CNN Makes Changes To Its Weekday Line-up; More Jake Tapper and Abby Phillip; Less Wolf Blitzer

CNN has announced  major changes to its Weekday line-up.

The BIGGEST moves: more Jake Tapper and emerging star, Abby Phillip, the Washington-based correspondent --I love the fact Phillip is set to have a new show on CNN

I'll watch.

TAPPER: I've never been a fan. I think he's rather a bland watch and I continue to wonder why Tapper has such a strong following both at CNN and more importantly, from viewers. Then again, I'm sure Tapper is getting more recognition because CNN doesn't want to lose him, perhaps to MSNBC.

Tapper's increased play at CNN means an hour less of "The Situation Room" with Wolf Blitzer, which is OK with me, being I Feel Blitzer's best days are way behind him.

I can watch Philip all day and night and I'm delighted her presence on CN has expanded.

  1. - I hope Phillip succeeds like you want her to.
    - Tapper is especially too popular with late night hosts. I, for one, never understood that. Thankful that Anderson Cooper has earned the viewers and late night respect. Cooper, unlike Tapper, great storyteller. Cooper's rare giggling fit NYE priceless.
    - Broadcasting personalities way past their prime: Blitzer, ABC's Joy Behar (getting more buffoonish every day; very unhelpful to the progressives' cause; unfortunately still immensely popular in NYC), name any FOX personality past 65-70, including its founder.

    1. Politicians way past their prime: Nancy Pelosi (80 years old), Dianne Feinstein (87 years), Bernie Sanders (79 years), Maxine Water (82 years), Alcee Hastings (84 years), Grace Napolitano (84 years).

The list goes on and on and on.

    3. Don't worry.... in 20 or 30 years all those politicians will be gone. Except for Nancy. She's a vampire and will live forever. Anyone want to bet she's still in Congress in ten years? Even odds right now.

    4. Pelosi is HOT for an upper-70's woman. Hell...for any middle-aged woman. She's smart...opinionated...and has a great rack!

    5. What's it been now...40-years? Whenever there is worldwide breaking news, I go to CNN.

    6. I like Tapper. He's straightforward and smooth.
I think all anchors should be like football O-lineman: At the end of the game/newscast, if you're name isn't called out, then you've done a good job for that newscast. The only time I remember anchors is if they fuck up.

    7. When Nancy dies will the hosts on KGO play "ding dong the witch is dead"? Or was that a one off.

    8. KGO Radio is not a Music Station.

  2. Token hire, they'll get about 25 viewers for that show.

And he's an idiot. He doesn't draw a dime.

  3. CNN's future doesn't look good. Parent company AT&T is looking to sell. Despite occasional ratings successes, it's been generally bad news at CNN in terms of viewership for awhile. I read somewhere that the Cartoon Network has more viewers. Wouldn't surprise me if a conservative billionaire bought it, which means the Jim Acostas and Jake Tappers will be looking for new jobs. It will be a business decision -- there's not liberal viewers to keep CNN, MSNBC, CBSN and the rest profitable. Consolidations, mergers, culling the flock are all in order.

    4. People in sales are pretty good at finding something a station or network is No. 1 at. For instance, CNN is No. 1 with people in airport terminals who don't have smart phones. I don't think anybody would dispute that. But where it counts is prime time. That's where a network makes money. TVNewser wrote on Dec. 31, "... it was Fox News, once again, that dominated the cable news rankings, led by Sean Hannity, whose 9 p.m. show averaged the largest total audience on cable news for the 4th straight year (4.38 million).

"Fox News is home to six of the 10-most-watched cable news shows for the year 2020, all of which saw noticeable growth from 2019 (as expected).

"Tucker Carlson remained No. 2 in total viewers (as was true in 2019), and averaged more adults 25-54 this year than any other cable news show in history (794,000)."

  4. I like Tapper, tough and honest. Good to know Wolf is reduced. Sick of the dropping inflection at the end of sentences.
