Larry Magid |
YOU have heard Larry Magid on both CBS News radio and up until last year, KCBS.
Magid is the tech reporter who made an otherwise mundane (sort of, to me at least) subject matter interesting and informative.
Magid is now gone, another high-profile victim of CBS cuts.
His career spanned 20plus years.
As Magid leaves, he was mysteriously moved off the KCBS radar. The station didn't say a word. Listeners were left wondering what happened. He was just thrown to the wolves without even a courtesy plug, not to him nor to KCBS friend s and associates.
Basically, he got screwed.
Magid, the pro he is, took the high road and didn't say anything. Which is entirely his makeup for a guy that only made his subject matter --consumer electronics and the such--worth a listen and display his wry sense of humor whether during a report or taking questions from an anchor.
I wish an outlet out there gives Larry Magid a slot. He's damn good and we could use his expertise and information.
Good luck to Larry Magid.
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of a show I used to love listening to.
Is Kim Komando still heard in the Bay Area?
I'm not a techie or computer fan at all, but she could make that sort of show entertaining. She was surprisingly attractive for such a dreary topic.
