LER ME TELL YOU ABOUT Betty Yu, an ace at KPIX that isn't used well enough; in fact, should be their primary talent. Yu won't rock the boat because she's a team player and doesn't complain.
I will.
Yu is not only a terrific reporter and a potential awesome anchor, she's the ultimate hybrid, she can do both magnificently. I wish PIX had the same awareness structure as I do. There's some other factors here as well, let me embellish.
Yu is a sight to behold--a real star presence.-- does a number of things in the Asian arts community. Last I checked, the Asian media market in SF and the Bay Area as a whole, is keenly interested and engrossed in TV News media. My active readers are Asian Americans who have a passion to watch and follow their community talent. Yu has an amazing presence and should be the very essence of KPIX's product.
So, PIX? Get after it!

What is the story with Jackie Ward? I notice that her PIX twitter and bio pages have been removed. Seems like she has had an abrupt departure from the station.

Jackie Ward is no longer with KPIX as of April 2020 on her Linkedln. Betty Yu must be the most unattractive reporter on KPIX adding on Veronica De La Cruz. Both have big lips adding on Veronica with that smirky looking eyes too disgusting to watch.

DeleteHey Rich, as usual, I completely agree with you on this one. One thing I notice about Betty Yu's reports, she ALWAYS gets the plum assignments. You see her in palatial real estate offerings, when doing a story about the real estate market. You see her riding in ultra fancy cars when doing reports about rich and famous. I think you get it. Look at her Instagram, and you will see her in fancy resorts, going to places all around the world, living the lifestyle of the rich and famous. When she does it on her own dime, I don't understand how she can afford it, when we know bay area reporters aren't paid that much, relatively speaking. But I totally agree, that she is a sight to behold, and those duck lips of hers are SO inviting! Yumm!
ReplyDeleteKPIX is doing some creative innovative programming on Sunday evenings with the CBS Evening News. The past 2 weekends they have been airing their affiliates broadcasts of their Channel 5 news here in SF. Last Sunday it was the Evening News from Seattle and this weekend CBS Evening News was aired from Indianapolis. Really good. The talent from Seattle and Indianapolis are WAY better than anything San Francisco has to offer. I hope they do more of this in the future.

We have watched her cover breaking news on the Pandemic, entertainment and features. With many Asian haters during the COVID-19 crisis, Betty brings the community informative, thoughtful and fair coverage. Thanks for noting her solid broadcasts. KPIX is lucky to have her contributions.
ReplyDeleteBetty Yu is a very sweet woman. I worked with her for years. And she is certainly a competent reporter and a hard worker. But I just have never seen in her the star power you allude to. There are bigger unsung talent untapped at PIX.
