A Special Ask Rich Lieberman

Image result for ask rich liebermanI KNOW A LOT OF YOU ARE HOMR; Many of you are freaked out (what a blasé term) but nevertheless, it's a historical time. We could joke about all this virus stuff but after the joking, reality sets in--anyway, it's scary out there.

TODAY, I'm here for you, a "special" 415 Media, Ask Rich, I'll answer any radio/TV/Cable questions and if you want, my takes on this ongoing crisis.

Please, name and city, always gets to the top of the list.

You can also ask me a question on Twitter and/or Facebook.

  1. Why do you censor comments on your posts even when those comments are presented respectfully? Why do you block people on Twitter that disagree with your opinion? Shouldn't critics be able to be critiqued? And if your answer is "it's my blog to run as I want", then I don't think you should be asking people to donate and financially support your blog if you're going to censor them.

    1. So, I'll tell you what. Don't read. Don't --I'm not in the mood, maybe later I'll expound.

    2. I feel the same way, and although I have contributed in the past, I don't feel like doing it right now, perhaps later. However, to many of my comments have been blocked, and most of the time it they are not even critical of Rich, but he blog a negative comment about someone, and I feel he is being harsh and try to defend that person, for the most part he does not post my comments. Sometimes after I rewrite and reword it he might post it, frustrating, and not really a sound business practice.

    3. OK so now I have posted your dismay --many wouldn't, I did. So are we done now? I hope so.

    4. Rich censored me a few times as well the last few days. Crazy.

    5. Thank you for posting my comments. Do you have why Pat Thurston is out again this week. She was out for about 2 weeks I believe, and when she was back on she said, she had the flu and felt just terrible, but she was feeling fine, now she is out again all of this week I believe.

    6. Pat has a case of the flu --she's feeing better but has decided to stay on and get better. Which is a good idea.

Yeah, she had the flu a few eeks back so it can happen (yikes!) twice.

    7. Ok,thanks, hope she will be back soon and feels better. Gil Gross filled in for her today, he is better than he was when he was on 910 some years ago, and he did take calls, which is an improvement.

Rule #1. Editing is not the same thing as censoring, although it can appear that way after the fact.

Rich has to decide what makes this Web Forum flow. What is too repetitious, too familiar, too far off topic even what is too vulgar? There are limits, even for this web forum, since we have a lot of womenfolk reading it too. You have to consider all that. They too are part of the family. Rich makes the decision and keep pruning those Rose Bushes, trying to keep from being stuck by the stray thorny remark that gets under his skin.

Cue to Frank Sinatra singing (what else?)
"I've got you, under my skin!"

  2. 327 million people in the United States....38 deaths so far from the Chinese coronavirus.

From October 2019 to Feb 29 2020 the CDC is estimating 20,000-52,000 deaths from the flu in the US.

Chill out, wash your hands, don't kiss some random ethnic weathergirl, and grab a pastrami from sandwich from Grumpy's on me. Media hysteria, this too shall pass.

To quote myself from the movie I was in: "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!"

    1. We're in uncharted territory --I know that's a cliché but it's true so your inference that this is all hyperbole is off base. We simply don't know.

    2. It is no longer a Chinese virus or an Italian virus, it is here now and is an American virus! People are buying up toilet paper and selling stocks.

    3. 9:40...No truer words have ever been posted here on the 415, "mass hysteria." Reminds me of the Y2K people.

As reported on the Local and National news, the majority of people who get the virus will recover, they won't die a horrible death.

What I am seeing now is so far beyond 'human reasoning' it can't be calculated, but it has a name, "Mass Hysteria."

      TWATN...always will be.

  3. Do you feel the media induced panic has been ratcheted up by partisan playing policians and news networks in an effort to make "coronavirus" the latest impeachment? Wash your hands, avoid Church's chicken on E. 18th and you'll be fine.

I never thought I'd see you panic like this bro.

    1. John, the pnly politicking I hear I hear now is Sean Hannity insisting to refer to the "left" as trying to bring down Trump and that's both nauseous and repetitive. At this pount it doesn't matter anymore.

    2. Church's on E. 18th closed years ago, Anonymous Johnn. Update your facts before you regurgitate foxist fantasy.

    3. I have to respectfully disagree, Rich.

When it initially hit Trump locked down travel from China. Democats were yelling "YOU'RE RACIST! HOW DARE YOU! etc etc. The same old song and dance. He probably saved this country a shitload of problems by doing that.

Now all of the Dem "outrage" is laughable. "You're not doing enough! Put the camera on me!" Please.

      Delete
    4. Yeah, the "Left" and the "Democrat" party are trying to "bring down Trump." At this stage, Trump is bringing down Trump. Take a look at the stock market after his speech. 'Nuff said.

I love Church's Chicken when I can find one.
The meat is great, but the service is often lousy, or as slow as a crippled snail. I'm still a-waitin' for Marin to get both a White Castle Burger joint, and a Church's or Popeyes shack.

When was this? Seriously. Never saw one such report, and I work in media. Where are these stories?

      And it's "Democrats," btw.

People with Coronavirus "I think I'll go to the Eiffel Tower, skiing in Switzerland, visit the Australian outback!"

If Coronavirus isn't about beer, why do I keep hearing cases about it?

I know a joke about Coronavirus..but you probably won't get it.

  6. Will KTVU female anchors ever learn how to dress?

    ReplyDelete
  7. This day in age, that seems so trivial but hey, to answer your question, NO.

    ReplyDelete

    1. In San Jose today. I don't know if any female anchor is dressing to my liking every time. I generally like Julie Haener's look, but again, not all the time.

Not exactly KTVU, but for Fox News and Fox Business (in New York), it was once said dresses/attire was actually brought in from which the female anchors could choose. I don't believe any local station has this service or is willing to pay for it.

  8. Big Vinny! How's the stockpile of toilet paper?

Would you say your stockpile is strong to quite strong?

Or are you sorely lacking in the Charmin department? I myself have enough to conservatively get me into May.

  9. What's with the "Greg Papa doesn't suck" stuff? Does he have pictures? Next you'll be saying Smurph and Smack are the second coming of Frank Dill and Mike Cleary.

    1. I can change my mind or alter it. With Greg Papa I took the body of his work and reevaluated my own criticism (s). I never said he was 100% lousy--I DID not care for his TD Call but that had to do with his Raiders/20 year legacy and it sounded so weak when he basically did it for the 49ers...He doesn't have any pictures nor do I --sometimes the fairness factor takes over.

  10. Should people really really really need to stock up on toilet and tissue paper before the supply is low, demand is high like mask unable to find in any stores with a massive increase on the virus including a basketball player and our favorite Forest Gump actor, Tom Hanks????

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Making your own mask isn't that difficult. Cut up some old bedsheets into squares, sew on some ear-loops. It won't be as good as store-bought surgical masks, but since the surgical masks are not available, a home made mask is way better than nothing. Even if all it does is prevent you from touching your face, that's a huge benefit. Double up the material if you want improved air-filtration protection.

      Delete
    2. Wearing a mask is not that useful, just stay away from crowds. Wearing gloves makes more sense.

      Delete
    3. Wearing masks has one superior effect, even if the mask you wear doesn't bar Covid-19... People naturally give you space.... a good thing. Disposable gloves also good..put them on as you leave car, so that when you touch stuff in the store, teeming with nasty critters, you can just remove gloves in car when you return and dispose of them..just don't touch your mug or microphones or shake hands...the way Donnie did today..omg. Even his phalanx of stable "geniuses " behind him, couldn't stop him and didn't even try. What a jackass.

  11. Why do most women on TV look like they are going to a cocktail party? To me, it looks incredibly unprofessional. If I want to ogle women's legs and breasts, there are a lot of other places on the Internet where I can see that.
