Chris Matthews on MSNBC: Sort of Nutty Now

Image result for Chris Matthews

I'VE NEVER LIKED CHRIS MATTHEWS. He's obnoxious, nutty, a real bizarre guy with some obvious mental issues, which helps explain why he's such a hit on cable, in this instance, MSNBC. I don't care if Matthews is more my political bent because every time I watch him I cringe.

I cringe because Matthews, who began his media career here as a political writer for the then, legitimate, SF Examiner, has become a certified nincompoop. When you're lampooned on Saturday Night Live, you're bankroll is expanded and your ego is massaged, but your days as a credible news journalist are over.

Matthews is not taken seriously now. He's a caricature of himself. His now-crazy, on-air shtick seems to have taken a serious path to the looney tune farm. I never know where to go with Matthews because he's clearly lost in space and an abomination. What a lunatic, really. And he's no longer funny either, worse yet.

Matthews at one point was legit and worthy of watching and listening; now, he's become a bigt-time nut case. The Democrats' media wing has to be in pain when Matthews spews forth his political spin because he's no longer part of the Washington media establishment. Notice he's lately been kept on the cable platform because NBC can't afford his banality on the network. Matthews makes Brian Williams look like Walter Cronkite.

Yes, Matthews is handsomely rewarded for his services, more bizarre than ever, but that's more a desperate NBC (and MSNBC) to retain whatever star appeal it has; Rachel Maddow supposedly doesn't like to appear on panels where Chris Matthews is involved. I can see why.

  4. This is the same clown who when Obama was elected was on the air saying, "I've got a thrill running up my leg!".

Low IQ television for low IQ voters.

  5. I totally agree on this. I'm more of a right-leaning guy so I don't have much use for Matthews to begin with but a few years ago when he was promoting his Kennedy book I heard him on a right wing radio show. I can't remember the host. And he was rational, informative, entertaining, educational and to be honest, a delight to listen to.

It got me to thinking that perhaps his whole shtick on MSLSD is more of an act than anything and that ticked me off in a way. I know that all the talking heads on all the networks are performing to whatever extent so how can we take any of them seriously? We can't! And this (cable news) is where a huge amount of people are getting what they consider to be "the facts". It's all just an echo chamber. No wonder we can't agree on anything.

  7. When Trump was elected and tried to stop Muslims? Mathews said "It's good that we have a tough president" I never for got that as later he backtracked when Trump's own nuttiness came forwarf for all to see.
But last week,he went off the deep end with comparing Bernie Sanders to Castro..no,not Julian who ran for President, but Fidel and then went on about millions being killed. The rest of the panel had "crazy uncle" looks and smiles on their faces.
I give Mathews points for fighting colon cancer and the stress..but he needs to step back sometimes...

  8. Wow, what negativity. He is not "nuts" but has his own unique style. Let it be, life it too short to attack others. Love thy neighbor is still good advice.

    1. Kumbaya. Love thy neighbor, even if he is Chris "Uniquely Fucking Nuts" Matthews.

    2. No,he's not nuts, but he's getting up there in age and I think that since he says he was raised in a republican home, some of that GOP fantasy of America the white gives him comfort to fall back on. Happens to lots of old guys becoming their fathers.
Most of the time I agree with him. I like he gets intense when he talks of Trump trying to become King and end Democracy. Some other hosts get too giggly as they tell me Rome burns.I hate that.

    3. Whites? There you go again with your racism.

Would you be offended if we started making watermelon and fried chicken jokes? Grow up old man.

Nice to see that once again nobody here or on EBT gives proof i'm wrong..they just go to ad hominem attacks. Year after year,I wait for the proof I'm wrong and just like with Einstein,it never comes..

  9. I used to like Matthews, but I've long since found him unwatchable. He does all the talking and doesn't let his guests speak.

  12. Isn’t he the same guy who said Michael Avenatti would make an excellent 2020 presidential candidate?

  13. What exactly do you mean? What did he say? Brian Williams?? LOL!!!I like him, great political instincts. I watch Hardball every day. Rachel Maddow makes me want to puke. She should be glad he tolerates HER.
