    1. God, I hope not. I was going to ask about that in Rich's previous column. It sounds like Vic had this planned all along. Can't believe it's been a half century!

  4. One of the Bay's best reporters ever, up there with B Davis, B Williams, Arnow, R Williams, LaCuesta, Chacon, and current reporters like Hurd, Melendez, Freedman, Goodrich, etc. Nobody will ever fill Vic Lee's shoes. But out of respect for Ashley, Finney, and other very respected Circle 7 SF personalities, no Bentley, please!

    1. Pahleeze! I mean, putting "Goodrich" name in with Vic Lee? I mean, Juliette Goodrich is not even close to being in the same league with Vic Lee!

  5. Well freaking earned Vic. And honestly, 50 years in the same market as a reporter? That just isn't done. Anchors develop followings and become institutions, beat reporters like Lee come and go without much of a fuss. Glad this great achievement is getting a lot of fuss. Can't imagine how many different NDs he worked for.

  6. Glad Vic got the power and back up to work until this age, otherwise, he would probably been let go like Cheryl Jennings. What I mean is Trixie cannot force him to leave due to his background. Happy Retirement, Vic

  7. Screw all the other accolades you can earn in TV news--or any other career. You cannot higher praise than this: Vic was a GREAT reporter...but an even greater gentleman/human being.

  8. Did Vic give a two week notice? Was his contract not renewed? Or is it just a “Take this job and shove it?”

  9. Vic is finally hanging it up! Man, there will never be another like him, especially with how ALL journalism has taken a dive over the past 20+ years. Yup, that's when it all started. Had the great fortune of working with Vic at KRON and KGO-TV. Vic was a mentor and a man who garnered the respect from all who worked with him. It was a great ride Vic, now go enjoy your retirement, you deserve it.
