A prominent industry source told me anywhere from 300-500 programmers and staffers were given the heave-ho on Tuesday--more bad news? More to come.
300-500 pink slips? Whoa!
I'm checking on local situation and
station here.
*UPDATE:
Billboard has the story.
Looks like the San Francisco cluster is fine. No one was given a pink slip

I do like the streaming service which is supported in my Toyota. Toyota previously cancelled Pandora, a different company, from its in-vehicle infotainment system as Pandora (last I heard, now owned by Sirius XM satellite radio) no longer supported in-vehicle systems, but iHeart still did. Older car audio systems may still have a Pandora app present which may still work fine, but my Toyota's system updated itself to remove Pandora.
Otherwise, the entertainment/music/broadcasting/streaming business can fluctuate at the detriment to longterm-employment...so sorry to those layed off:(
I think these are the local Bay Area iHeart-owned stations (I don't even know callsigns anymore):
DeleteWild 94.9
Star 101.3
98.1 The Breeze
106.1 KMEL
iHeart80s 103.7
Real Talk 910 am
Bloomberg 960
American Top 40 San Francisco (this might not be AM/FM, maybe only streamed)
Rich, thank your lucky stars that you are not employed by iHeartedia, you never know where they will downsize next!
ReplyDeleteHey 12:51 you're wrong. We lost several people. Engineers, sales staff, the PD at the left-wing talk station that I can't recall because nobody listens and does it even matter anyway? SF cluster lost a few.
ReplyDeleteGood news. Let's hope Paulie The Wimp Mac is given a pink slip.
