  1. Finally the Giants do something right and not throw away money on has been's. Look to the future, not the past.

    1. Too late. We already signed Longoria.......

    2. There entire infield was throwing money away, including the catcher.

  2. I'm disgusted by this lack of loyalty on the part of the Giants.
Mad Bum led the NL in innings pitched last season. He has never had an injury to his pitching arm and he has a body built for the long haul (unlike Lincecum). He may not be an ace of a staff, but certainly is a solid #2 or 3 guy. He has been underpaid his entire SF career. He honored his contract and never tried to renegotiate when he won the WS MVP. Now, when he finally has the chance for the big $$, the Giants crap on him.
They could have easily matched this Arizona offer.

She'll make a call to Nancy, say 'Here's my vote'.."

  4. The Giants are going to have tons of empty seats at the park next year. Just remember everyone this is not new. They had four great years mixed into 50 mediocre ones. Were just going back to what we always have been and Oracle (PacBell, SBC, AT&T) Park is just slowly morphing into Candlestick. 10-15 thousand fans per night maybe.

    1. This is correct. I'm a San Francisco native and The City
has always been a front running town. They will NOT support a loser. If they get it together again, the bandwagon jumpers will return!!

    2. That means tickets will be cheap on Stub Hub as season ticket holders do not renew and those keep their season tickets will reselling at a loss.

  5. Madbum had this to say about the possible move:

"Mmbua bha mmm umm mumble-mumble Ford truck mumbha bah bah..."

  6. The Giants have a history of letting players go elsewhere via free agency or trade. When MadBum was benched on the last game of the season, I knew he was not on Zaidi's urgent and important list. The team is being rebuilt so Buster, Craw, and Belt are expendable. Pillar's release is a signal, too, the roster is open.

  7. Didn't give Bum a parting gift ala Lincecum. Good on Giants. Onward and upward!

  9. I honestly can't believe this. It's great Mad Bum won't be a Dodger, but I'm just surprised he's going to the D-Backs. The Giants could've easily given him more.

Kind of sad to see the Giants not go after him when he wanted to be here, and it also begs to question why the Giants didn't trade him at the deadline this past season when they could've gotten prospects or future cornerstone players for this team for Mad Bum.

Even though it was a different regime, but the Giants can give a guy like Barry Zito a 7 yr $126 million deal, but can't give a guy like Mad Bum a 5 yr $85 million deal? Disgusting

  10. Oh well that's life in the fast lane.
Next time Larry Baer needs to pony up more money.
So too with KNBR. Those cheap on-air hosts should also pay his salary.
Same with the homer at the Chronicle Audrey Cooper. Pay up.,

  11. The kale garden is gone, too. It's now a bullpen. So the ticket buying fans at Oracle Park will have to do without their kale, and instead eat crow with their $15 beer.

  12. Everyone calm down. There are still plenty of Mad Bums in San Francisco!

    1. If you find one who can throw a slider, call Farhan. Given some of the current hair and beard trends in Major League Baseball, prospects don't even have to worry about a trip to the barber.
