Mark Thompson Worked on Yom Kippur on KGO Radio

Most Jews in this country are reform; many of those, including me, non-observant --but like millions of others do, even reform Jews do not work on Yom Kippur. It's more than a ritual, it's a fact.

When he was working at CNN, even agnostic and Jewish, Larry King did not work on Yom Kippur; so too Mark Levin, Michael Savage, locally here, Ronn Owens and Michael Krasny.

Hall of Fame pitcher, Sandy Koufax, refused to pitch on Yom Kippur.

On Wednesday, KGO's Mark Thompson, a Jew, worked on Yom Kippur. He has every right to do what he does and I have every right to call him out too.

  3. wow, you have issues Rich. There is no "right" to call someone out. Especially for something like this.

    1. Actually, there is a right. See Bill of Rights Congress or government cannot prosecute anyone for pointing out such activities of a public figure(presumably Mr. Thompson). You and others, similarly, can cry foul, without any obstruction, if you wish. Then there are those who would make much of a day of atonement, while continuing unabated to do things deserving of atonement.

    2. Yes, I see it now, the 1st amendment clearly states that we have a right to "call someone out". Please.

  5. Religion is a joke. This guy may be Jewish in name and you may consider him Jewish but he doesn't have to consider himself Jewish. 20% of Amreicans don't believe in God. Get a grip, pal.

  6. Do you have to air our laundry with the "Goyim" Jeez are you that lame that you have to write this crap?

  7. Religious expression is a deeply personal matter; it's offensive casting aspersions on a individual who manifests his or her beliefs differently than you.

  8. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf had no choice but to work on Yom Kippur, due to PG&E's infectious idiocy along the Oakland Hills.

  9. Seems everyone is on the same page here. Rich writes some really good blogs, he just wrote one about Pat Thurston and John Rothmann. However, whenever he dislikes someone as a host, it seems he cannot draw the line between being a critic of their show, which is totally fair, and their personal life, which I think is, at least for the most part unfair, and their professional life. Can't count the many times he has mentioned Ronn's manicure. I for the most part do not enjoy those blogs, but I come here for the good ones he writes and also to the comments of others.

  10. Hey Rich, you can do what you want, but it's a personal decision, isn't it? I don't get why you're calling out someone for this, I'm Catholic but I couldn't care less if someone worked on Christmas. It's none of my business. I think you owe Thompson an apology.

  11. Your mistaken Rich, he's not Jewish, he follows the religion of veganism. He eats fake burgers with fake cheese, and gluten free bread. Definitely not Kosher.

    1. vegans don't eat "fake burgers"..They eat burger shaped patties, filed with stuff that's good for you and won't cause heart attacks and strokes and cancer, and despoil the environment. Is this evil?

  12. The fake burgers are high in cholesterol, and as the founder of whole foods stated, he would not eat them because they are processed and not healthy. You are not up to date on meat and health, check Annals of Internal Medicine pub 10/01/19 dispelling anti-meat propaganda. It was a joke, you must be a loving vegan suffering from malnutrition and 1-sided thinking. Viscous and looney, you gotta love them.

  13. How did a about religion turn in to discussion about food? I don't know that Mark Thompson is vegan, never heard him say anything about it. I listen to him fairly regularly, although I agree with Rich, his show is not that good, I don't think it is as bad as Rich thinks. I like his draining the swamp updates. Anyway, there is much else on at that time, it is either Rush, or some guy on a Sacramento show, Chas Benson, something like that, but his show is a monolog with no callers, more boring than Mark and Brett..

  14. If you listen to KFI 640 when he has been/is on Tuesdays,
He discusses Veganism and vegan foods with Tim Conway and Aaron Bender. The religion part was a joke (eating meat & cheese in the same meal), for some people veganism is a pseudo religion. As a sidekick to Tim Conway, he is entertaining, when he sub'd for Tim, he was horrible.
Bay area radio has been horrible since kgo & knbr were ruined.
