Friday Numero Uno: Susan Leigh Taylor Dumbest Q on Universe; Wind-Aided; Lettieri Too; KTVU Gets More Misery

SOME PEOPLE NEVER FAIL

IN WHAT MIGHT BE THE DUMBEST QUESTION in some time:

KCBS' Miss Mary Ann in the morning; Susan Leigh Taylor was on the phone with a KNX (LA) reporter in the wee hours of this morning (Friday) barely hours after the San Fernando fire had ignited and forced thousands from their home and saw many homes ignire in an inferno...Leigh Taylor asks the reporter, "Do authorities know what caused this fire" WTF?!! "Uh, no, I don't believe they're even thinking about that now," said the reporter who sounded as equally as puzzled and perplexed as those listening.

*Another dumb one asked twice: Scott Lettieri in Pleasant Hill asking a mother at the hardware store buying water. "Did you stock up for five days worth? Mother: Uh, no, but we're safe now." A few seconds later from Lettieri: "Did you stock up for five days worth?" Again, the mother sounded irritated and perplexed: "We have five days worth." Cut back to anchor. Holy Cow.

*Pat Thurston on KGO had the pleasure (eyes rolling) to interview some PG&E spokeswoman --a millennial chick with a nasal voice and doing her best to put a spin out that, "PG&E cares about our customers first" --She said it about seven times in a few minutes. Thurston sounded irritated and disgusted at the obvious disingenuous ploy by the insensitive, fake PR flack for the state's most hated utility. The diplomat she is, Thurston cut off the interview and simply told the woman, "thanks"; you could hear the irritation in her voice and I think she carried the same frustration we all do.

*With all this wind and PG&E disgust you would think it would be a great PR move by KCBS to cut the commercials and go live ad nauseum but gotta get those ads in listeners be damned.

*KTVU and its latest embarrassment is indicative of a news operation that is so depleted and understaffed that it can allow another graphics disaster; one that has being lampooned all over the news sites and once again, the laughingstock of TV stations in America. If it happened once, we could call it bad luck and move on but 2X? Heads should roll (again) and probably will (again) Just who will be the scapegoat this time?

*It's not just the fact the 800-JUNK ads run every two minutes it's the "Sara" chick that makes everyone want to vomit. She's horrible. She's satin. She's MISERY! Tape her mouth quickly!

*Greg Papa asking every guest, "hey you like my 49ers TD call?" Papa has an ego the size of the Atlantic Ocean which makes that question he asks guests on air every day not exactly surprising.

  1. We have a big problem in this social media - smart phone filled world. No one pays fucking attention. Everybody is so self-absorbed. That's why Lettieri asked the same fucking question twice.

Pooppa's touchdown call is so damn forced. Not sincere at all. Thank goodness you can turn the sound up on your TV...and the radio sound down, down, down.

  2. The 800-JUNK Sara girl is annoying but nowhere near annoying as Chip Franklin's know nothing sidekick Rosie Perez.

  3. It is a perfectly legitimate question to ask whether or not the causation of a big fire is known.

    1. 12:30 is completely correct. You look dumb to NOT ask that very basic question. And, yes, authorities WERE "thinking about that now" because they had investigators prowling around the spot where it started while the scene was still fresh. That's how investigations work. The only boob was the ditzy KNX "reporter" and, um....

    2. The word you were looking for is "cause".

  4. What Papa should be asking people is..."Do you miss Ted Robinson?"

  5. Haha 4:52. Robinson is sorely missed.

  6. Bring back Ted Robinson. Everything about Papa seems so forced... and the shill could literally careless about the 49ers. He could go to any other team and would sound like a cheerleader from minute one without knowing anything about said team.

  7. Papa's call is appropriate for a critical 4th qtr touchdown but comes across as forced and overkill the rest of the game. Besides, by the time you get to the end of the game, you've already heard him do it four or five times and it loses its impact. Papa's calls should reflect the flow of the game and not about having a catchphrase. Bring back Robinson and give Papa role he was born for - PGE Spokesman.
