IT'S EASY TO POKE FUN AT KTVU but give credit where credit is due.
I-80 is closed now in BOTH directions, a result of the refinery Fire in Crockett and traffic is a nightmare.
Kudos to KTVU and its decision to send in morning traffic anchor, Sal Castaneda for providing heads-up (and down) traffic implications.
No other stations performed this obvious task.
As usual, Castaneda, who knows his territory because he's a Bay Area native, was both attentive and informative --he made viewers aware their loved ones would be late for dinner; more importantly, he provided much needed advice for commuters looking for alternative routes to get to their destination.
It may seem small but it was very much a heady and proactive move by KTVU which, as I mentioned, gets its knocks here and other places, but deserves praise on this move.
I love Sal.
ReplyDeleteHonest delivery and NO dumb questions.
Happy talk ...like a dumb college student asking about the restroom.
Is this toilet organic ?
Sal may have done this on his own without management input. Too smart a move for KTVU management. Sal probably TOLD management he needed to be there.
ReplyDeleteIn either case... What a complete waste of time. "Hwy 80 is closed... Hwy 80 is STILL closed, WAIT... Ok... checking the CHP computer... Yes still closed. NOOOOW Hwy 80 is open. Back to you Frank and Julie."
