Jon Miller Takes More Time Off; Probably Done After 2019 Season; Giants' PBP Broadcaster Eternal On Assignment

Jon Miller
Giants lead Play-by-Play broadcaster, Jon Miller, has missed five out of the last eight games; he's "on assignment", the BS shtick that is beloved by the Giants' amen corner. But Miller's early-season absence portends to a long term summation.

I'VE already speculated that Miller is probably going to call it quits after this year. He's been with the Giants since 1997 and beginning in 2020, Dave Flemming will become the lead announcer.

Miller has been taking more days off and his workload has become increasingly lighter --taking two series off after barely three weeks into the season supports word on the street that Miller will probably hang it up after this year; at the very least, Miller's role in Giant's broadcasts will be considerably lessened and Flemming's bigger than it already is.

As they say, stay tuned.

  1. The entire franchise is marking an end of an era with Bochy's retirement, and various other things - the franchise is overdue for a reboot.

  2. It doesn't matter, the Giants are such a terrible team that nobody is watching or listening.

  5. Cities Jon Miller likes to avoid: Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Houston (no longer a problem now that the Astros are in the American League). Nothing new.

  6. Miller has a strong sense of entitlement.
