Ray Taliaferro KGO MIA Brings Back Disturbing Memories

Image result for Ray Taliaferro missing

THE NEWS of Ray Taliaferro missing has an eerie reminder from this corner; almost three years ago I was concerned about the whereabouts of Ray T; the conventional wisdom was that the former KGO radio talk host was OK and writing a book and staying under the radar.

This latest story is disturbing because he hasn't been seen since early November and furthermore, has ignored several, repeated phone calls and e-mails concerned about his whereabouts.

We hope he's OK and pray for his safe status.

  1. I remember him mocking the way people in the South speak once on his show. And now he's living in the South per Pat Thurston reporting about his being missing. Strange.

    1. See map..See which states are adjacent to Kentucky..They are not all southern states. He lives, lived in Illinois. Note to Ray: if they are trying to put you in a "care" home...run like hell, a metaphoric ice floe would be a better option.

    2. Southern Ohio and Illinois and Indiana are all pretty much the northern edge of the south. I’ve lived there.

  2. I hope this has a good ending and Ray surfaces real soon. I listened to him... and all the others for years when 810 am as a good station.

  3. During the brief period in the '70s when I listened to KGO at night, I didn't care for Ray's style one bit, found him rude and dismissive to callers, and he single-handedly drove me away from KGO. I guess I'm in the minority with this opinion.

I do hope he's OK. I wish him no ill will, but karma's a bitch.

    1. So, you choose to attack Ray's edgy attitude and radio shows, which made you whimper away forever, at a time where he may be struggling to stay alive, or worse. Then, you want to tell us how you " wish him no ill will", but want "karma" to get him. LEt's put it this way. When you are in extremis, none of us will care.

    2. Will I get bad karma to say that I was thinking about karma last night in relation to this story?

    3. 6:20: No, dumbass, 3:08 did not choose to do what you said and he went out of his way to state that, but you had to act like a superior asshat anyway. None of us will care about YOU, trust me.

    4. First of all why would one host turn you off the whole station? Does not make sense, what station that is mostly talk radio, has hosts you always agree with, also do you always agree with everything a host has to say, even if you like that host? Of course saying you wish Ray no ill will, but karma is a bitch, is just a very awkward and cowardly way of wishing something bad might have happened to Ray. You better watch out for karma yourself.

    5. Considering the tone of the posts aimed at a single dissenter, he/she is better off not being one of "them" anyway.

  4. Life is fleeting.
Ray Taliaferro was once the toast of the town.
From a high paying job and hosting a highly rated radio show at KGO to living in Paducah, Kentucky.
    Life can take cruel turns.

    1. He didn't live in Paducah, Kentucky. He was reported missing from southern Illinois, a stone's throw away. What do you have against Paducah, Kentucky in the first place? You can buy a cool bit of acreage with a lake house in Paducah, for less than what you'd pay for a one room walk-up here.

    2. 7:03 you don't have a clue. $100,000 for a palace in Paduchah? Or a mailbox in SF?

  5. I enjoyed Ronn's and Ray's banter during the Leukemia Cure-A-Thons on KGO Radio. "Ray, it is not enough !" ( over and over again, while raising money ). Ray, it is not enough. I hope he is OK.

  6. I miss Ray. You know, he loves taking long walks and walked around the city all the time. I hope he is on a nice long walk having a good old time. Hey Ray, we miss you, buddy.

  7. I do hope that Ray is found safe and sound. I am about 180 degrees out from his political positions but he was entertaining as hell. I miss Ray and Art Bell in the overnight hours.

  8. Yes, he was rude and obnoxious but entertaining.

No doubt he was suffering the early effects of dementia while on KGO. That would explain his often incoherent babbling.

  9. Ray, walk this way, please... My good sir, you are missed here in the Bay Area, and if you're walkin' to New Orleans, Forrest Gump style, just keep on flying low to avoid the radar, and give us some kind of sign -- somehow, someway -- that you're still alive & relatively well, just up around the bend and out of sight!

  10. When ever Rays name is mentioned hera his voice saying Ahhh no no no. He used to say that to everyone he thought was wrong.

That late night on KGO was like that. Ray and Bill Wattenberg while on complete opposites of the spectrum did not suffer differences from their own thinking well.

  11. Ray used to MC the Monterey Jazz Festival and always had the greatest music on his show...no one should go missing...if he had dementia where the heck was the "new wife"?
