Heather Holmes (l) and Julie Haener in happier times |
You have.
KTVU has a certified ego war on its hands. Great. Now maybe those 54 security cameras can record some of the action.
Heather Holmes is once again telling confidants that she wants to be the #1 co-anchor on both the 6 and 10 PM newscasts. She's determined enough that she is positioning herself as all but gone if management doesn't give her the primetime gig. Only this is where it gets complicated. Have you ever been in this situation in life? Sure you have but the stakes here are much higher. Well, high enough to create a virtual war between Holmes and Julie Haener, who is maintaining a cool relationship with HH; cool enough that the two news countesses don't talk to each other.
At one time, they were lovey-dovey so to speak and supposedly know where all the bodies are buried in the KTVU Jack London Square building and studios. So much for camaraderie when your best buddy (in theory) is trying to take your job.
Holmes thinks she has leverage and she might be right. I have never warmed to her on-air anchor style mainly because she comes off as superficial and benign. I don't see much passion with Madame Holmes --her ad-libs are slightly horrible. Her rampant line flubs are enormous. She's becoming the white Wendy Tokuda. Then again she seems to be beloved by all the male truck drivers in Concord. It's all a matter of taste I guess and Holmes is on a fast track to stardom --at least in the local TV News biz.
Her wardrobe continues to be a topic of conversation particularly when she sits on her anchor chair in a black slinky dress and 4-inch heel red bottoms. I'm not sure Heather is reading off a teleprompter or destined for a night out at Mezzanine with the girls. She's one tough cookie.
Haener, for her part, is being mum around the break room and not saying a word. She has the security of a contract and decent ratings. The "10 O'clock News" is still KTVU's bread and butter platform and it doesn't need any tweaking. Moving Haener out and putting HH in would dramatically alter it and there's no reason to do so now. Moreover, the tandem of Frank Somerville and Haener is still quite palpable and a winner to viewers. Fixing it when it's not broken would be monumentally stupid --even the Foxies seem incapable of executing that type of idiocy but never say never.

MICKEY MUCK AND RONNNNNNNNNN
*Hey, Mickey Luckoff, now that the Christmas party is over I'd like to ask you why you made up and played kissy-lovey to Ronn Owens. Because, Mick, you and Ronnnnnnnnnnnn are quirte possibly two of the most toxic and pathetic individuals on the planet Earth. Maybe I'm being too kind with those words, toxic and pathetic; more like sick and disgusting.
See, Mickey, as assholey as you are and continue to be I thought for sure you would ace out Ronnnnnn in your life; it was Ronn that was the bad guy Mick, not Jack Swanson. At least Jack has some morals and tact when it became apparent his deal at Cumulus was worthless. Yo Mickey, Ronn would work for a Walmart in Lodi if there was a mike in it and he got free nail salon coupons. Ronn doesn't give a crap, Mick, about loyalty and professionalism; he basically killed off Gene Burns (broken heart) and consistently made jokes behind Ray Taliaferro's back in the old KGO days. Ronn is a phony and not a very good phony at that; Bill Wattenberg called him a dick several times off the air. Jim Eason thought he was a downright asshole. Want proof Mickey? You have Eason's number and trust me on Wattenberg.

By the way, it's good that Ronn and Jan Black are back together that way Ronn can go dating again.
*THE TRUTH is sometimes hard to write unless you like honesty here and here you will get honesty even if it means my life will be minus a few more friendships. I have no use for some of these people. They are ego maniacs. They have no depth and think the world revolves around them. They think their feces don't stink. They are beholden to a universe where ass-kissing is considered a commodity and class and virtue are scarce. They have no morals whatsoever; I know I'm not a boy scout--never claimed to be one but at least I have enough vanity to get by even as I struggle.
The Holidays are rough this year and I'm particularly vulnerable so pardon my rough edges; coping under these conditions is trying. Yes, I'm a softie, go sue me. I speak of conviction and I don't need my nails done and have to make up stories like screwing Sharon Stone in Seacliff. What a liar. What a complete schmuck. What a conniving putz. Quote me.

ReplyDeleteGirl vs. Girl smackdown! Only on Pay-Per-View.
Battles over air time and status are fought by the agents and station (not newsroom) management. While Heather and Julie may have competing expectations, they are most likely very simpatico with each other around the office.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck Heather! She is stealing the time spot and fame away from veteran Julie. She should remember her current competitor is Alayna Gomez and Gasia can anytime take over Prime Time.
ReplyDeleteAlayna Gomez...A beautiful woman in more ways than one. She's starting to break away from what I call the 'Newbie Shell' and that is and will be 'Extra Special'.
DeleteAre we looking at the next woman who will be a player on the 'Extra Special' team, those who stand out and grab your attention and are daring...could be!
The women are the News, what proof do I have? Alayna, Gasia, Heather, Julie and Leigh. Always will be!
A beautiful woman can never be over exposed. Trish Regan's new show (5pm Fox Business) is a perfect example of a drop dead gorgeous woman displayed properly.
I was taping and watching Trish "the dish" Regan, but she is too right wing and pro-Trump for my liking.
DeleteBravo bravo. Richie great job today. Cat fights with HH & JH mmm I love that. Jew on Jew fight with you and Lowenstein. Great job, beautiful. Well done.
ReplyDeleteJust like in nature, the alpha is always fighting off up and comers.
ReplyDeleteThe truth does not need explaining. It speaks for itself. Any attempt to explain it is simply "spin". That is what your blog is. Spin, not truth.
ReplyDeleteI remember Jim Eason would say, "The frost is on the pumpkin"--code for "the GM was near."
ReplyDelete- I guess none of the FOX local biggies in Houston or Dallas or San Antonio or Austin don't want Texas native HH anywhere near their sight. Hence HH is backstabbing Haener for the top co-job at KTVU.
ReplyDelete- The biggest question in regards to the Firm is this...Will they reup, raise, or cut Somerville's salary?
- If Deanno is rightfully promoted to News Anchor - either that department only a better-than-Hackney hybrid - what are Bastida & Martin's future status? Thought the former just reupped.
- RL: Do you want Sedate Leigh or Hyperactive Gasia? Had to laugh at the contrast.
- Guess the Cloud Clowns are still Ronnned up, despite clear slippage in voice, content, and physical health.
- Media with Morals? As proven by answering trolls in many RL posts, at the very least, this hasn't existed for the past two years. Better yet, it probably began to erode as early as the 1970s, starting with Dennis Richmond's first co-anchor Andy Park (coming from a dud tenor at PIX - of course, pre-Richmond & pre-McElhatton, everyone was a dud futilely chasing Van Amburg) drugging his way out of KTVU. Drugs, drink, privilege, infidelity, or just plain and simple greed & ego, local TV & Radio broadcasting has never been known for consistent morals or decency, even as we produced some solid upstanding anchors and reporters through the years. There are still some supercool exceptions as RL has pointed out (Ashley, Goodrich, Deanno, etc).

ReplyDeleteBye Felicia...
This Just In on Friday, Nov. 30th:
ReplyDeleteDominick Brascia, former co host on Armstrong and Getty has died of natural causes at age 62.
these days evn a Challah isn't enough. had to get some Croissants.
ReplyDeleteHeather Holmes could replace Pam Moore and join Ken Wayne on KRON, what about that? FYI...be on the lookout for what KRON is calling a 'big deal' in the digital world coming soon to the station. It has a lot of staff members talking about changes.
ReplyDeletesend the faux cowgirl packing back
