Five Years Later And Still People Are Pissed About The KPIX Ouster of Kohara and Kessler

Of all the feedback I get here, the KPIX dismissal of John Kessler (and later on, partner, Sydnie Kohara) generates the most disgust --hands down. A friend tells me constantly, "I'll never watch Channel 5 again."

Apparently, he's not alone.

  1. Oh please grow-up and get over these things.Goldwater lost in 1964 and the world moved on. Kessler and Kohara had their days together in SF broadcast history but it's now exactly that, history. Dear friends, the world moves on...

    1. Best thing I heard this past weekend was Michael Zwerling's stellar interview with Dr. Bill Wattenburg on KSCO. My favorite moment was when Dr. Bill said "Only a Liberal will claim to pick up a dog turd by the clean end." Great job, Dr. Bill!! More KaKa Jokes!!!

    2. What's the point of this blog if we just get over "it".

      It defeats the purpose....right?

      BTW
      How did Dewey do?

  2. I'll never watch Channel 5 again, either, for what they've done to Kessler and Kohara, and to the fine citizens of the SF Bay Area. In addition...Christine smells like KaKa.

  3. I remember the ads for the Morning Show with Kessler, & Kohara...It depicted Roberta trying to catch or follow a Rooster around!...LOL?!

  4. Kessler was a unique character, and Kohara was not.

  5. I cancelled my cable when that happened. Kessler, Kohara, Anna Duckworth, and Tracy Humphries were the ultimate chemistry on morning news. Breaking them up was a testament to the fact that shitheads run TV.

  7. No argument here, it was a great pairing, but then I still miss Milt Kahn.

  8. You are right on with this one, Rich. I didn't realize it had been 5 years though! Kessler has moved on, literally, having moved across the country. Although I liked their chemistry, and they were the best morning duo, Kohara wasn't as nice to her fans as Kessler was. He was a down to earth guy, while Kohara tried to be a diva.

  9. An American tradition is trying to put your own stamp on things and damn the consequences. People's egos continue to supercede common sense and doing the right thing. Yet another example of selfishness and disrespect.

  10. Since Kohara left, masturbation in the morning hasn't been the same.

  11. I was catching up with your posts and thinking about John Kessler as I read your November 30th “KPIX Morning Show “In The Tanker”; Robin Winston Turns Down Traffic Gig”. I have not been able to stomach a complete KPIX morning newscast since the departure of Kessler & Kohara. On the handful of occasions that my TV has stumbled upon the KPIX Morning Show (usually as a result of watching a CBS program the evening before) I can tolerate it a maximum of about 3-4 minutes (6-7 minutes if I am busy making coffee). I then find myself remembering the team of Kessler & Kohara which had style along with substance and looking with disappointment at the current news show and then remembering why I vowed never to watch KPIX Morning Show again. Two seconds later the remote is in my hand.
