Sydnie Kohara was fired by KPIX; Demanded On-Air Goodbye; Inside Story; RL 415 Media Exclusive

Sydnie Kohara, part of KPIX/CBS5's morning news show was fired, amid tears, but was allowed, by demand, to bid an emotional on-air farewell, according to a well-placed SF TV source.

Kohara's last day was June 3.

After surviving, (barely) an 86ing last October with partner, John Kessler, Kohara was allowed a small window of opportunity, (at reduced compensation,) to work with newly-hired, Boston TV transplant, Frank Mallicoat.

The two never meshed. "Two very different personalities, on and off the air", said a station insider. "And the ratings weren't that great. Plus, there was no chemistry."

Kohara's departure from the Channel 5 building on Battery St, was, according to another source, accompanied by a security guard. (How classy.)

No word on when a replacement will be announced, if any. KPIX's morning show, like its CBS network counterpart, has been hampered by poor ratings. Mallicoat's presence on the new show has not seen any significant upswing in viewer numbers.

KPIX News director, Dan Rosenheim, was part of the key station brass, involved in the Kohara departure.

  1. KPIX has the lowest morning ratings for weekdays. They are behind KNTV.

  2. How can anyone be be hind KNTV? Now that's pathetic!

  3. This is CBS legal, please remove the photo associated with the write up on Sydnie Kohara and KPIX as it is the intellectual property of CBS and you are using it without permission.

    1. How sad that CBS legal has to resort to threatening. Great job with that new morning team you have. Watched twice and that was enough.

    2. Haven't watched the morning news on CBS since they canned John and Sydnie. That was a stupid move. Then you put that lame blond in a reporting position. Then you brought in a Stepford wife to work the evening news. So very sad.

  4. I always liked watching Sydnie Kohara when I lived in the Bay Area years ago. Definitely a pro. If it's any consolation Sydnie, and if you are interested in working in one of the most beautiful cities on the west coast, there is currently a morning anchor position open at top-rated KUSI-TV in San Diego. Go for it. I, for one, would love to watch you present the news here in SD. And besides, the weather is much better in this town!

    ReplyDelete
  5. KUSI only hires blondes, so Kohara won't get hired. Don't believe me? Check out the Staff Bio's page on their website.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I like Kohara, did so when she was on KGO TV back in the olden days. But for sure, there wasn't any chemistry with Mallicot. Except that he's the one with little personality.

    ReplyDelete
  7. CBS Legal? That's a joke, right?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I beg to differ that KUSI only hires blondes. Anchors Kerri Sargent and Sasha Foo look very brunette to me. Furthermore, I happen to watch them first-hand just about every day on a marvelous, crystal clear 60" HDTV set, and I don't see a hint of blonde on those two anchors.

  9. CBS, why are you being such douchebags? Sour grapes.

  10. CBS morning news show is not that good, but neither is their National Broadcasted Morning Show...

I used to "love" to watch The Today Show, but I can NOT take the KNTV Morning Crew...

I absolutely "loved" The Mornings On 2 show, until they hired on Dave who talks like that Clark...

Therefore I stick with KGO local news show in the mornings. Which follows with GMA, Regis & Kelly, and then The View. All terrific Morning Shows...Give or take Regis & Kelly. ;)

I feel bad for Sydnie...she deserved better than that from KPIX.

  11. Another smart, classy and talented lady ousted from the SF airwaves. CBS has made it clear that they value T-n-A over quality. Give me Sydney any day over Kristy Seefkin.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No chemistry? SO they think another Asian who is half Frank's age is better?.
It's like Radnich and Kate Scott..her silence is deafening...not her fault. She's stuck with a 61 year old Republican and Pecon who is to the right of the Klan...
As far as Syd? its like everybody you see was hired or just hired..almost no familiar faces. And I sure wish I knew how they determine its her and not HIM when ratings go down?..

    ReplyDelete
  13. This is CBS legal insisting you remove the photo associated with this post as it is the creative property of CBS. If you fail to do so we will be taking other actions.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Good reason to switch over to KNTV... have you seen Laura Cannon lately? She's smokin' now that her husband is gone!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wonder if Grace Lee is the permanent replacement or just there til they get someone else. Maybe Janelle Wang! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hey, "CBS Legal," action THIS!

    ReplyDelete
  17. How they determined its her and not him? Easy. They hired him. They "inherited' her which makes her expendable. It has nothing to do with Sydnie's talent.

    ReplyDelete
  18. ratings for a morning show ? WTF !

who the h#ll watch these shows ? Seriously, they all look the same. It is just insane that any news stations would fire people because they can't generate ratings. Stoopid.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Two thoughts: 1) If that's the real CBS Legal, then that's sad that they don't have better things to do than worry about a past photo. And 2) To the Anonymous person who said T-n-A over quality, does that make CBS the official network of the Rolling Stones? Was Rosenheim's decision actually made by Mr. Rock-n-Roll-ah-hah-hah Keith Richards? (BTW, love Keith's memoirs)

  20. Thanks RL415 you delivered!

    ReplyDelete
  21. KPIX=DOUCHEBAGS!!

I hope NBC11 hires both John Kessler and Sydney and pairs them up for their morning show, along with foxy/sexy/hot Christina Loren. I watch them all day long!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. If that is really "CBS Legal", they would submit a formal "Cease and Desist" order. Rich, keep the photo up and don't cave in to a hoaxster.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sure their ratings are poor. They fired the best morning news team in the Bay Area. John Kessler and Sydnie were a great combination. I switched the station when John was let go. Hiring a co-anchor from Boston just made no business sense to me. My hope is that John and Sydnie will land somewhere together soon and in the Bay Area. Any station would be fortunate to have them because I guarantee you, the ratings will go up with them :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I said I thought it didnt sound right she would quit-hens teeth jobs, etc.
But fired? with tears? Corporate chain of command backs the weasel that's most like themselves.
    Frank fits that look.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks, Rich. I don't agree with everything you do here at your blog like the continuous drumming on Radnich, etc. but you knocked it out of the park here. Many of us wanted some answers and no mainstream news outlet is going to report the dirty laundry and their own news. This is where you can excel. Thanks for the info and for skipping your "hiatus". :) Well done, sir!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Heartily agree with the previous post. It's refreshing and interesting to hear real some media news that is NOT sports related.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Does anybody have the clip of Sydnie's last show where she supposedly gave the tearful goodbye? Maybe post it on youtube and provide a link for everybody. I would love to see that, out of curiosity.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm not going to be anonymous... Syd? You're going to be better off disASSociating with KPIX and CBS. You are a class act. They keep proving themselves to be the Walmart of Networks.

Cheap and quality doesn't matter to them. Oh and we can add petty to their resume now too. *glares at CBS Legal*

Be thankful (good riddance to that sinking ship) and pick yourself up a copy of "Unlimited" for some good summer reading hon.

Better things WILL come along for both you and John...

    ReplyDelete
  29. CBS Legal should be more worried about whether they have a job after this PIX-calypse, not whether someone is using Sydnie's pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  30. It is a sad commentary. I loved watching John and Sydney along with Ana Duckworth Sue and one by one they were fired. Frank has to have the last word always and I am told that is an old trick but it is annoying. At least Sydney got to say good bye to the viewers instead of mysteriously disappearing. Its like when you were a kid and your pets went to Pet Heaven. Escorted out by Security ???? What are they thinking? KPIX used to be my favorite Not any more.

    ReplyDelete
  31. To Rich: Keep up the picture until they send you a formal ceast and desist letter. You can always put up a another picture (perhaps one off of her FB page)

To CBS5: Screw you. I get home at 5 am from work everyday and looked forward to seeing Syd and John's banter. Professionals all of the way. Now you look like another KRON. I am switching back to KTVU. I still love Debra Wenger - but hopefully she will fly as well.

    ReplyDelete
  32. KPIX is garbage. The execs and managers are conniving, manipulative people and they use talent with no regard for their humanity. The local news business is dead unless you're in management - that's a fact. They're the only people with any sort of longevity.

We should all stop watching and get them fired. Something tells me NDs and GMs and EPs wouldn't like it so much if they were treated similarly. And oddly enough, they have more responsibility for ratings than the talent does.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I won't be anonymous either, as I have followed John and Sydnie both for over 25 years. I quit watching CBS News when they let John go. My hopes is that they will get back together as Kessler and Kohara or Kohara and Kessler, doesn't really matter. They do have chemistry.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm another viewer who mostly quit watching when KPIX fired John Kessler. Sydnie was great, but her new companion not. Anyone beside me notice that KPIX devotes much more time to commercials than most other local channels? What are they spending the money on -- management? Let's hope that Rosenheim is the next to go.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It was like the handwriting was already on the wall. After John Kessler's demise it was just a matter of time before Sydnie would be dumped, unceremoniously I might add. CBS has no class when it comes to 'dumping' their employees. If they are experiencing bad ratings they have only themselves to blame. Their taste is in the toilet. Frank Mallicoat has no personality or lips.

    ReplyDelete
  36. In all fairness, Frank Mallicoat is a solid broadcaster, handsome with a great persona. I thought from what I saw on occasion, he and Kohara were starting to mesh. That said like most others on this thread , I quit watching KPIX after 40 years of being a loyal follower going back to the Weston/Ramey days when they dropped John Kessler. Now I open the morning at CNBC and surf the news at KTVU, KGO, KRON and a bit of KPIX. Basically KPIX brass have it ass backwards now. Mallicoat should be paired with the drop dead girl next door, Elizabeth Cook at 5 o'clock and stick John Martin in the Morning slot. Mallicoat is evening quality; wasted in the morning slot. He and Cook would be devastating at 5 o'clock. KNTV or one of the others should pick up Kohara and Kessler. They could easily compete in ratings with any of the morning crews at this point...

    ReplyDelete
  37. I continued to watch KPIX after they let John Kessler go because of Sydnie Kohara...won't watch it again...to escort her out of the building with a guard...what an insult. Would love to see John Kessler and Sydnie Kohara on another station and will definitely watch. I also feel Frank Mallicoat is very dull! No morning humor or laughter. Not interested in morning news on the local level at this point. Back to radio and music for my wakeup.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Really, CBS Legal? Just a pro tip -- maybe it's not such a good PR move to act like total douchebags after you've let go two of the most popular figures to ever grace Bay Area television.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sydnie Kohara is such a treat to listen to in the morning when on is just ''coming to''. She is able to deliver the news information without the usual clammoring/shouting; without the shrill/fau-emotionality. She has an intelligent soothing deliver that I, for one, have enjoyed and admired since I used to watch her on ABC.
It took her so long to find the situation on CBS--I don't think it will take that long to find a new situation. They say "everything happens for the best", Sydnie; I'll be watching for you to see where you wind up (as I did when you parted w/ABC) as, I'm sure, many others will.

  40. Another blood letting! From Jim Vance

    ReplyDelete
  41. You guys are friggin clueless. Sydnie was and is a wonderful Anchor and human being and big help to me at a very tough time in my life...this woman cared. Grace lee is not the answer. Neither is that other guy next to her. Sydnie if your reading this I miss you and I wish you the best of luck.

  42. I continued to watch KPIX after they let John Kessler go because of Sydnie Kohara...won't watch it again. Would love to see John Kessler and Sydnie Kohara on another station and will definitely watch. I also feel Frank Mallicoat is very dull! No morning humor or laughter. Time to search for a new channel to get my morning news.

Sydnie, I miss you and wish you good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  43. We saw the writing on the wall when CBS fired John Kessler. Figured it was just a matter of time that they let Sydney go too. They seem to be hiring younger on air personalities whom they can pay much less money. We followed John from KRON to CBS and loved when the paired him with Sydney. The new morning line up has no chemistry. We will move to another network morning team.

Have you noticed how the CBS local networrk seems to mirror the national network? I still can't believe how many times they've slighted Harry Smith. They should have given him the anchor job instead of Katie Kourik and now they did it again bringing on that BORING guy from 60 minutes to anchor!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I wondered what happened to Sydnie. I loved her. Now there is no reason to watch KPIX in the AM any longer. Boo on this boneheaded move by ma age ment. I think it is age discrimination.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I wondered what happened to Sydnie. I loved her. Now there is no good reason to which KPIX in the AM. I think it is age discrimination. All they seem to want are pretty young fillies who can only read without much intelligence.

    ReplyDelete
  46. ditto...what were you thinking CBS! Bet your ratings are even lower without Sydnie and John! John and Sydnie were perfect for morning news. They were like a great cup of coffee in the the morning! I refuse to watch CBS morning news now. I tune in to Channel 2 morning news. Wish John and Sydnie would work together again at another network!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I stopped watching Channel 5 when they let John Kessler go! He was effervescent, funny, had great chemistry with Sydney and was just a bit of a rascal. He went rogue sometimes! I liked that! It made Channel 5 not so "cookie cutter". Channel 5 WAKE UP!!!! Your ratings suck because you let 2 of the best people on morning news go! I will NEVER watch Channel 5 news again unless Kessler and Kohara come back! Maybe you should trim at the top???

    ReplyDelete
  48. Things change, for better or worse. I like Frank and enjoyed Sydnie, too. I did, however, question her familiarity with San Francisco when an "Eye on the Bay" telecast took her to the top of Twin Peaks and it appeared she had never been there before. A news anchor should know The City. I do wish her well and will continue to watch KPIX in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Channel 5 is out of their minds! John and Sydney where by far the best morning news anchors. I miss John and Sydney. I started every day watching them but channel 5 has now lost another view. That Boston guy (can't remember his name) is oh so BORING!!!! Hope John and Sydney gets back together on another morning show. The best chemistry ever between them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really enjoyed Sydnie and John the most. I do not care for Frank. I find his extra comments inappropriate and annoying. I still enjoy the CBS evening news but I am looking for a new morning news program.

    Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  51. I always liked John Kessler & Sydney Kohara. They made good team. Will start watching another news show now. Can't believe they treated Sydney so poorly! KPIX doesn't sounds like a very good place to work.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Channel 5 news is not allowed in my house w/o John n Sydney it can only go down Shame on you channel 5

    ReplyDelete
  53. I use to watch the KPIX morning team back when Ken Bastida & Kate Kelly / Juliette Goodrich were the anchors. Once John & Sydnie became the team, that made it even better. When they let John go, I was going to stop, but continued to watch because of Sydnie. The pairing of her and Frank....anyone could see that it wasn't going to work. Now, Sydnie was fired. Escorted out crying? Truly heartless. John & Sydnie, I hope you two pair up again. I will watch you in a heartbeat. KPIX...your ratings were higher when you had them both. Now, you're going to be looking up at ALL other stations ratings since you will be rock bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  54. When they let John go the only reason I didn't change channel was because of Sidney, now KPIX morning news is so weak, non-fat, de-caff, light weight I can't take it. I'm changing to channel 2 for morning news. I guess you get what you pay for, channel 5.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Agreed! Can't say anyone on the early news CBS is interesting to watch, and keeps getting worse. It got really bad after Tracy left the weather, the only one with personality. Doesn't seem Kristy and John have much personality, let alone "chemistry." I guess I'll join you on 2!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Dan & etal made the right move, ciao to the terry and the pirates character ...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Now I like Kron. The new guy on 5 is not what I want to see at 5am. If I wanted something that stiff and boring, I would starch my shirts.

Kron goes on for hours so if I work from home I don't have to see 5's national show either.

    ReplyDelete
  58. i say shame on you cbs5 new morning team sucks big time frank needs to not be so obvious reading from a teleprompter. with joh kessler gone and now sidney i wont watch anymore. now a snoozefest. just sign me by by 5

    ReplyDelete
  59. Is it all about Money cbs5? Shame on you. You wont be happy till cbs5 goes down. bye

    ReplyDelete
  60. Been watching the trial. Shocked when I came back to KPIX. Sometimes change is not good and started the downhill slip when 5 did not renew J Kessler and now Sydnie. Mallicoat is harsh to look at and barely has a personality. Guess KPIX is not worried about their own image. Back to CNN and will have to forego local news. Come on Bay Area, you can do better!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. CBS SUCKS! AND YOU WONDER WHY YOUR RATINGS ARE SO BAD.

    ReplyDelete
  62. KPIX boring.. what is with all the women.. Where are the real men? what with the facial Hair on Anser(SP). Terrible news cast in the mornings. Blah,Blah, Blah, Blah..
they need some class and real anchors..

    ReplyDelete
  63. I watched the channel 5 morning news every morning for more than 15 years. I switched to channel 11 when they let John Kessler go. The writing was on the wall that the fools running the show would also drop Sydnie. I hope channel 5 morning news fails completely resulting in the firing of the execs that made that stupid decision. A better replacement for KPIX's channel 5's morning news would be reruns of The Three Stooges.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I finally googled John Kessler & Sydnie Kohara and just realized they were fired. (ok I'm a little slow) I loved watching the morning news when they were anchoring together. They had personality. I decided to change stations...going to channel 7 in the mornings. KPIX...catch a clue!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I also stopped watching whey they fired Kessler. I too hope John and Sydnie reunite. Great together!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ya know, she should go to KNTV, I have almost stopped watching KPIX anyway.....Too many commericials and that tell you something.....

    ReplyDelete
  67. local tv kabuki theatre, man. i LOVE it.

with all due respect to the parties involved:
Kohara got fired because she looked OLD. Kessler got fired for probably the same reason. this is the typical phenomena with broadcast news. it's a young person's field forever more. know how you can tell, right? your anchorpersons become blonder (typical idiot consultant strategy for longevity)! it never works, they get fired anyway and in this case, executed poorly with Kohara being escorted out by security from KPIX -- tough to hear that one.

it's all about the ratings and money. all broadcasters know that. KPIX has a new team and it's mostly young looking chicks and a guy who looks like Val Kilmer 20 years ago. there's lots to choose from in morning news and this is the tried and true way to make you 'stand out'. LOL!! goodluck to Kohara and Kessler and the new morning team. we'll see how long they last. LOL!!!!!

    i love this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I used to watch channel 5 every morning before work. Now that your last interesting anchor has left there is no reason to continue watching your station. The changes you have made are horrible. The new blond guy is so fake and has no personality. Be prepared for ratings that are worse than ever. No chemistry on your show.

    ReplyDelete
  69. All you really had left was Sydney. I still miss seeing her and John Kessler along with Roberta in the morning. How much longer does she have? I pretty much stopped watching after John Kessler got the boot. I turned on this morning and noticed Sydney gone. Whoever make decisions about your morning news team is a pin head.

    ReplyDelete
  70. We only noticed Sydney being gone these past weeks, hoping she was on vacation. Actually stopped watching KPIX when they released John Kessler..........this Frank has "0" personality and I felt for Sydney trying to make the morning news as entertaining as it was with John. Guess we will continue to watch KGO.Seems to me KPIX management keeps messing with entire news staff at the station, trying to find them a spot.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I miss John Kessler and Sydney Kohara...I kept thinking they were possibly out ill or on vacation. I miss them and there awesome chemistry, They are the best!! What is chanel 5 thinking??!!??

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sydney did a wonderful job on the chanel 5 news. She has personality and humor and Frank M. needs to be more hip and more alive like Sydney. Switching to another news program.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Sydnie & John were really a team with chemistry that was so great to wake up to in the morning. Their humor and seeing them on Eye On the Bay as guests made me feel like they were family. They were so natural and not stiffs like the others.

CBS-5/KPIX was brutal in how they handled Syndie and John. Unforgivable. The station is so dysfunctional. Lots of folks are out-of-work and not up as early to watch anymore. Did they even think of that.

As much as like Allen, Dana, Roberta, Tim, Brian, Liam & Thu ONLY now, that's not enough for me to defect to another local station. I only tuned into CBS-% in the mornings for Sydnie and John. After all these years, I'm thru. The station should have fired the decision-maker on this one.

Sydnie & John - I will truly miss you both. I love you both and thank you for gracing the air/viewers every mornings. You had a bigger following than you realize. They're just victims of the economy, out-of-work, and not up as early. I do hope you both stay on, locally, and rejoin as a team again. I will definitely watch you, campaign viewers for you, and wish you the best. You are more loved by viewers than you think.

    ReplyDelete
  74. John Kessler's firing was a blow to the morning new show, but when Sydnie Kohara was fired, there was no further reason to watch an otherwise weak morning news show. Frank Mallicoat couldn't have less personality if he just sat there and said nothing. Unfortunately, going to NBC and watching the Cannons really is about as bad as a variety show without humor. San Francisco, are you going to let your television news anchors fall below the small towns of the Midwest?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Frank Mallicot looks stiff; just as stiff as his upper lip. He may be nice, but he has no on-air persona. Face it, CBS, et al, John Kessler and Sydnie Kohara have the charisma and get along just fine. Years ago, when they were on "the other" channel, they did fine. Then John was fired. When John came back, I thought I was in heaven when once again, he was paired with Sydnie. If the reports are true that CBS axed Sydnie, made her cry and forced her to demand to give an on-air departure statement, shame on you. CBS, your early morning SF show is lame. I have watched you hire/fire people since 1990. Where's the pride and the love? If you want to know what works, ask your viewers. Oh wait, you don't have any.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I like Mallicot. It is not his fault that CBS 5 fired Kessler and Kohara. What surprises me the most is both Kessler and Kohara have failed to be picked up by anyone else. I understand KNTV agreed to hire Kessler but he texted the hiring on FB too soon and KNTV staff got pissed. What a joke...

    ReplyDelete
  77. I barely watched when Kessler left. The new guy is terrible. He has no charisma. Now that Sydney's gone I have switched to NBC news. I was sick to my stomach when I found out. Those two helped me get going in the morning. I would rather them have left on their own, but to be fired.....this is too much, someone at CBS has made a big mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  78. My morning's not the same without John and Sydnie....

    ReplyDelete
  79. This is so sad! Has KPIX management read the blog? Or they do not care at all what the Bay Area morning news viewers think? John and Sydney, where are you? There are NO interesting morning news channels any more. I am now watching news from Russia in the morning! By the way, Frank M. sucks big time. And his co-anchor as well. Neither has ANY personality!

    ReplyDelete
  80. KPIX/CBS5 you morons... lost two of the best in John and Sydney.

Where is John K... hope we get to see him again. Just loved his personality. JOHN WHERE ARE YOU... COME BACK TO CA TELEVISION.

  81. CBS
Is going crazy firing all there good announces like John and Sidney, that is one reason the ratings are so LOW>>>>>>>>>>>. I've stop listing to CBS....................

    ReplyDelete
  82. John and Sydney were great together. Frank is bland, real bland. At that time of the day you don't need a 'reader', you need personality.
I gave up on morning television news completely; now I read the Mercury on line.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I LOVE FRANK MALLICOAT (PLS NOTE SPELLING!) AS HE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL HERE IN THE BAY AREA WITH ALL OF US, AND HE IS A STAND UP GUY!

HE WILL BE PAIRED UP WITH SOMEONE GREAT, AND HIS PERSONALITY WILL SHINE! HOW TOUGH IS IT TO ALLOW YOUR PERSONALITY TO SHINE WHEN ANCHORFOLKS ARE BEING FIRED ALL AROUND YOU....GIVE HIM A CHANGE TO BE PAIRED UP WITH SOMEONE GREAT, AND YOU'LL SEE! HE'S TERRIFIC!

    ReplyDelete
  84. If Malicoat doesn't get along with Sydnie Kohara he's an A-hole

    ReplyDelete
  85. Change is always difficult not only for the viewers but for the personalities as well. It seems that much of the criticism of Frank is that he is not John or Sydney. How does that make sense? Frank won over the viewers in Boston (talk about a tough crowd!!!) Given the circumstances, he is doing well here as well. Time will tell but I'd bet on him winning over the Bay Area viewers as well.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I've missed both John and Sydnie so much and the replacements are so bland and uninteresting. I've tried to watch a few times but have ended up settling on chanel 3 (NBC) as a much better alternative. I will never go back to watching Frank, the lackluster and his forgettable sidekick.

    ReplyDelete
  87. just saw Kohara on Link tv...looks like she's learned our media is bought and paid for by corporations ..good for her!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Ms. Kohara and Mr Kessler were terrific every morning along with the weather person. I could not wait to watch the morning news with all of them. CBS made a mistake changing the morning line-up. I don't watch anymore. The people at the top need to find new employment.

    ReplyDelete
  89. How about bringing back Lynn Joiner or Kate Kelly to KPIX? What happened to Wendy Tokuda? How about Jan Yanehiro? Miranda Dunn? Linda Schacht? These newswomen were tops!

Dave, Wendy, Joel and Wayne Walker and the field reporters were part of KPIX's glory years. The Westinghouse Group W era RULED!!!!!!!!!

  91. This is 2014 and that prima donna Malicoot is still bland and Michelle what's her name is just as bland. I only watch Liz Wegner's traffic report.

  92. John and Sydney made my day!! It was a HUGE mistake to let them go. I miss them both and hope they are doing well, where they are appreciated by their employer. We as their audience appreciated what they brought to lighten our day every morning. They were a great team, love the humor and professionalism they brought to the show. What does it take for you people to see a good fit??? REALLY!!!

  93. Has anyone else noticed that KPIX just flat out blows now. The news, used to be worth watching, but all it is now is network pool stories. When they actually do send someone out to do a news story, it is lack luster at best. Bastida used to be good, Elizabeth whatever her name is, you could train a dog to do her job better. Deanno, thank gawd he has a personality and knows what he is doing. Sports... hahaha what a joke. Who is pulling the marionettes' strings now, apparently someone who doesn't care too much about content, just crappy redundant volume of worthless stories. Oh yea, what happened to speaking english..?? All of the slang and ghetto talk from Veronica and Elizabeth, and others... No wonder this country can not form a proper complete sentence. Maybe 855 battery has something circulating in the HVAC system.... WTF .....
