John Kessler headed to NBC Bay Area; Rich Lieberman 415 Media Exclusive
John Kessler, late of KPIX/CBS5 is headed down to NBC 11...
Kessler told me, exclusively, that he's reached a deal with KNTV and should be on the air shortly, but could not specify.
"All I know is we have a deal--what the position is don't know yet. We're still talking."
Kesser has been doing freelance work and filling in on KGO Radio since his contract wasn't renewed at PIX last November.

Yea! Finally get to see him on-air. Stupid KPIX for letting him go - I haven't watched channel 5 news since he left.
ReplyDeleteHere is my prediction. My guess is Kessler will anchor the morning news. Check the ratings now. Write it down. Check back in 3 to 6 months. NBC's ratings will be the same. Contrary to what blowhard Mr. Media has to say, John Kessler will not draw big numbers to where ever he lands. Kessler is not a reason to watch. Content is king. Unless there is a major personality in line with say, Regis Philbin, bay area viewership will not sway. I don't care how many dozen fans signed up for Bring John Kessler back Facebook fan page, as that yoke Mr. Media reported...or should I say blogged.
ReplyDeleteUgh--I can't stand him. Always smirking and laughing. Lame.
ReplyDeleteThe local news here is pedestrian. There isn't a channel or broadcast that stands out above the rest, the difference between the best and the worst isn't that great.
ReplyDeleteAll it takes is a charismatic anchor, a hot weather person and a sports announcer who does his own interviews-----give me that combination and I'll watch.
More times than not I find myself channel surfing between newscasts, looking for something to grab my attention.
missed him- our own bad boy
ReplyDeleteContent is king....unless you are Christina Loren.....mmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteYay. I need some snide comedy in the morning.
ReplyDeleteCBS5 just keeps getting blonder and blonder. It's like they're trying to imitate FauxNews.
YES!!!! Oh I have missed ole "blowed up" Kessler so darn much! Now hook him back up with Sydnie. They were great together.

ReplyDeleteExcellent! Now I'll watch NBC11 SF.. Only when John is on-air.
408er
Yeah! Who's next ... Steve McPartlin?
ReplyDeletePlease tell NBC 11 to pull the plug on the idiocy that is Laura Garcia-Cannon and Bob Redell in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteJohns a nice guy and all..but his pauses are aaaaaawwkard. The forced humor can make you twitch as you wait for something innapropiate to come out as often as not. A radio show-no big deal..news? when the loudest laugh you get is from yourself on air..eeesh.
ReplyDeleteWELCOME BACK, JOHN! the guy's a breath of fresh air in this tepid newsreader market. man...are we ready for a personality ...with real views...giving us news!!
ReplyDeleteToo bad he didn't land at KTVU and replace Dave Clark. That drama queen ruined the morning news there. Poor Tori looks lost
ReplyDeleteMaybe he can take the place of that indian guy, can't stand him.
ReplyDeleteGood. Channel 5 in the morning is now boring. I quit watching it. I'll watch him on NBC 11 He seemed real!! Alittle edgy, breaks up the boring news. Missed seeing him. Enough of the blonde newscasters in too tight of outfits. News should not be a (non) fashion show.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more about Dave Clark. I watched KTVU for 25 years, but the new line up is unwatchable. Kessler was great with Kohara. It will be interesting to see how he fits in with the new crew.
ReplyDeleteGet rid of the weather person- her clothes are much too tight and distracts. Just saying
ReplyDeletethat wasn't him on KGO radio last saturday was it? they had some crazy, hate filled anti-semite in the 1 PM to 4 PM slot where Bob Brinker usually runs...made me want to vomit...
ReplyDeleteGreat news to hear that things have worked out for John Kessler, really miss him. Will never understand why KPIX replaced him with an empty suit.
ReplyDeleteIf John works with Christina he's gonna have a boner every morning! This could get really good folks....
ReplyDeletePerfect! I'll be watching NBC11 if John ends up on the morning show. Couldn't stand the artificial smiles of Laura & whatever his name is.
ReplyDeleteI am never up that earlier anyway, but I heard that he's very nice guy..good luck!
ReplyDeleteLet me echo the comments about "Laura Garcia Cannon." She has confused her job with being a sorority girl at a bar. The flirting, the inappropriate smiling, the tilting of the head.
ReplyDeleteAnd that Christina Weatherperson whose close are always 2 sizes to small to show us her "aftermarket" parts....GEEEZ. I wouldn't watch them, but am forced to because I do like the Today Show.
Gauranteed there is competion between Laura and Christina!! Both are constantly posing for the camera. Especially with Charistina trying to show off her "AFTERMARKET" Parts. How discusting she is!
ReplyDeleteGlad John is back. He is a breath of fresh air always. I felt sorry for he new guy Frank. He jus does not cut it. I know his wife is proud of him as well as those other senior citizen friends of his welll John is great and now I won't have to change the chanel to watch the T
ReplyDeleteoday Show
Hello!!! Ms. Loren is by far the hottest young thing tooo hit our airwaves every! #duh. The next best is hard body Roberta...#winning
ReplyDeleteOps, "ever" Got a bit hot when I posted that at 12:27pm sorry :) luv ya RL
ReplyDeleteI'm glad John scored a new gig. He really got shafted at KPIX. I agree with the comment about Frank. He is odd looking and boring! Bad move on KPIX's part. Looking forward to seeing John on the air again.
ReplyDeleteMs Loren maybe attractive but she really needs a stylist to help with her wardrobe. Don't expect to see her filling in for Al Roker anytime soon. I miss Rob Mayeda.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you know about Brent Cannon's absences from the morning show lately?
ReplyDeleteYou blew it when you got rid of kessler!!! He was Funny...Frank M just kill me....
