Tuesday PM Wire; Salesforce Tower Spiderman Hit with SF Chamber; Welcome, Lamonica Peters, to KTVU, They Could Use a Spark; KGO Radio Thompson-Rothmann Cover Scotus/Roe V Wade; Thurston on Top; Save Partisan Blather; NY Times SF Bureau on Track; Ashley-KGO Aces Interview; SFist No Supreme Alt

THE GUY who scaled the Salesforce Tower? Whatever.

The SF Chamber of Commerce is happy.

*She's not as high as the Salesforce Tower but she's pretty much on top of the world now--San Diego, Seattle TV News ace reporter, Lamonica Peters, has joined KTVU and if my sources are accurate, Ms. Peters is an ace news journalist who provides KTVU a new, dynamic news presence and boy can Fox2 need an assist these days. I'm eager to take a hard look at Ms. Peters.

Her name alone has me intrigued.

*I should have mentioned KGO Radio's John Rothmann and Mark Thompson did extensive hours on the Supreme Court/Roe v Wade draft ruling --at the time, I didn't know they had multiple segments and now I know, thanks to you readers.

*With all that said, I'm not really gung-ho KGO anymore other than Thurston (Pat) who did her homework with gritty interviews with Congresswomen Anna Eschoo and Jackie Speirer on Tuesday afternoon.

*I'd hoped the leak angle of the Scotus/Roe story would provide much more introspective but again, we're stuck with a new-old now, debate on abortion rights, very important and polarizing but frankly, the partisan yelping doesn't interest me.

Including the yelling and screaming here. Leave your grotesque "pro-life" baby-metaphors elsewhere.

*The NY Times is planning a new SF news bureau, near the California street/Market corridor.

*On Circle7, Dan Ashley's split screen interview with a UCSF legal mind, was not only news-acumen personified but more importantly, supremely fair and objective.

*SFist wants to be regarded as a serious, alternative SF version of the Village Voice when it thrived as a Gotham alt and gave credo and credit to NY's non-mainstream media--only SFist is stuck on links to the Chronicle (SFGate), Bay City News (BCN) and a few TV News stations. It kissing ass of Hearst and other corporate boobs is no alt savior.

  2. rothmann has been talking about it.. incessentaly..but you notice rothmann never bothers to try and get a national or even a local writter on to talk about it..it would be nice once in a while for a national political story rothmann would put his oversized ego aside and let his listeners hear that..but he only does want he wants

  3. First, kudos to you, Rich, for crediting your readers with alerting you to the fact that Rothman and Thompson had multiple Roe v. Wade segments.

Second, if you're going to discuss this topic (and you should), let's not engage in hyperbole. This decision (if the draft holds) does not outlaw abortion, as you stated in your previous column; it merely returns the decision to the states. Nothing will change in California. If you want to have a credible conversation, at least be honest.

  4. Yes while KTVU strings along 6-8 freelance reporters they've now hired one new person. And surprise surprise, it's a black woman. You know Eikel had to do that to play CYA for hiring Mibach over Senior and because of her KTVU Karen status from past mistakes. Now she can pretend to be a champion of minorities once again. Anybody see that NYTimes piece about Fox letting Tucker Carlson spew his racist crap un-checked? That's who is paying this woman's paycheck just so we're all clear. The Murdochs. No thanks, KTVU can use minority hires to hide their corporate evil any day of the week, I'm still NOT watching.
