Most recently, she forecast weather for the NorCal (Sacto-Redding) KRCR (ABC) affiliate. I haven't seen Jess broadcast weather yet on PIX but I heard she's good.

Jessica Burch is your New Morning Weather Anchor on KPIX
Jessica Burch is your new KPIX weekday morning meteorologist in case you didn't know and I'm giving you the news now.
Ms. Burch has quite a background (for a change) having studied the weather in college and being a 2LT Army aviation officer in the Calif. National Guard. My God, here I thought structuring words with a "z" in them for Scrabble was hard.

Rosie the Riveter and Robbie Botox on KTVU will be watching for sure. Hopefully this person brings a different look to the weather. It can't be any worse than what's out there now.

ReplyDeleteHer last on air job was in Redding. Market 752. Jesus they will literally hire anyone in this town. Cheap hire strikes again. What happened to this city? When did we stop appealing to people who have actually been in at least a medium sized market? Now it's a 2nd stop town with crappy pay.

This is an odd choice for a chief meteorologist. I would expect someone with this light of a resume to be on weekends at best. But I guess it is KPIX so...

ReplyDeleteTiny little Darren Peck with the Napoleon/little man syndrome went back to weekends. Remember 1 year ago when Mary Lee left, he said he was “temporarily adopted by the Morning show” meaning they were in search for a new meteorologist. It was not like he was going to stay in the
DeleteMorning show forever unless filling in.
Now Peck is still on weekends but now is working Mondays & Tuesdays at noon & 3pm but only working weekend evenings (morning weathercasts by Paul Heggen for Saturday recorded and Peck in Saturday’s suit & tie recorded on Sunday). I do miss him interacting with Devin in the mornings and giving live views of the sunrise, fog, etc. But one thing for sure, you WILL see Peck at 3PM on Mon & Tue whether he is doing noon or just filling in for Paul Heggen. If filling in, Burch is there at noon. If filling in for Burch, Paul will be in at 3PM, not Peck.
OMG. No kidding. I do remember watching Jessica Burch on abc KRCR 7 Redding. She is a joy to watch and she currently still serving as a active duty National Guard. She loves serving her country. Salute to her and also salute to KPIX!!

ReplyDeleteIt is disheartening to see age bias against older people or younger people. Jessica might be young, but she is not lacking in training or ability. She has a BS in Meteorology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is certified as fluent in Mandarin and is a ROTC commissioned officer in the CA National Guard as an aviation officer. As mentioned by others, she recently successfully completed training as a Blackhawk pilot. About a year ago I hired a 24 year old recent college grad. She has been an exceptional employee and a great team player. On the other end of the spectrum I have seen older applicants turned down for promotion based on age. These have been people with skills, experience and an ongoing desire to embark on new adventures. Passing by individuals based on age is a loss and dissimilatory. Best of luck to Jessica.

ReplyDeleteAccomplished?! Give me a break! She is all talk! If someone actually looks behind the fake facade, you’ll find she’s done absolutely nothing! The fact that so many people have fallen for her ridiculous claims is astonishing!
ReplyDeleteI’m a complete noob here but I am saddened to see the vitriol some people here seem so comfortable spewing. There is a strong “anger at women” vibe in more than a few of these “comments”. The ageism is also uncalled for and previously noted. A few of these people have serious anger issues and clearly need professional help.
ReplyDeleteJessica Burch is a very accomplished, very capable young woman with a BRIGHT future. And she is doing a GREAT job here in the Bay. She is a credit to the profession and personally, I hope she is here to stay. I enjoy her smooth, unhyped delivery.. it is perfect for the morning show. For the person who called her “skinny”, do you know what a strong, physically fit woman looks like? She is not just attractive, she is beautiful in every possible way. Just mho. What more do people want than what she brings to the table ??
She has excellent chemistry with the morning team and they ALL do a great job. They have a truly friendly chemistry that makes this the team to watch in the morning for me. Jessica, as confirmed above, is a bad-ass with credentials that literally NOBODY else can match. She is young (is that now a crime??) but look at what she has accomplished and achieved at her young age. How could anyone NOT be impressed? She is a total catch in every sense of the word and deserves far more respect than some of the trolls here are capable of mustering. I am down for Jessica and for the entire morning KPIX team. I get the news, traffic, and weather with no hype (thank you) and pleasant delivery from all.
Lastly, to the troll (or complete idiot) who wanted Lloyd Lindsay Young back apeing, shouting and delivering his patented buffoonery.. you must be joking. SMDH.
