Anoither source: "He (Neerman) was more than just a bad boss, this was a man who lashed out at people and ruined careers. Not just here but everywhere he worked. The really bad thing is that he'll probably get a job somewhere else."
An odd development: It was Neerman that hired new anchors, Ryan Yamamoto and Sara Donchey, so too Amanda Starrantino; I wonder how they all feel and CBS network brass in particular. It would seem that CBS would have had to have had a lot of negative vibes, potentially even serious legal means to get rid of Neerman asap, so toxic was his presence inside the KPIX newsroom.
Like many other things, I had heard Neerman was an ass but almost everyone in the TV News biz, to some degree, is a jerk, it's the nature of the field. Only Neerman took it to an extreme. He, said a contact, ruled by fear and intimidation. Which won't ever work long term and especially a market like SF and the Bay Area. Combine all that plus LOUSY RATINGS and you have DISASTER. Bye Bye Neerman.
Well in the era of go cry to HR he couldnt defend himself.
ReplyDeleteAs for the new hires, not sure if Donchey is even going to walk through those door. Why would she when the person who hired her was fired? The place needed a good cleaning. I guess that meant the ND too.
Great, a destructive doofus.

ReplyDeleteRyan Yamamato is terrible. Boring like watching paint dry.
ReplyDeleteIt's a "profession" to be a news director? Where are these alleged qualifications written ? What education does one have to have to be one? none
ReplyDeleteAnd you can ask the same of all news media positions: there are NO requirements for getting a job in tv news, other than you catch the fancy of the person doing the hiring. It's not a profession, it's a job.
DeleteFirst Pero, now Neerman...TRIXIE, LOOK OUT! There's a target on your back.
ReplyDeleteWell, I still think the hiring of Amanda Starrantino was great. I was ok with Gianna Franco doing the news, as she seemed to be doing well. But THEN, along came Amanda and WOW! I DO see the difference! So sorry Gianna, but Amanda is WAY better and just SO PUT TOGETHER! I mean, the lady has all her makeup done just perfect, nice bright white teeth, perfect earrings every day, and her hair is always just right. So I will tell you that as someone who generally actually doesn't like blonds, this lady has got it going ON!
ReplyDeleteNow, regarding that new Yamamoto guy who is supposed to save the station as being the new lead anchor at night, well, I can see that is not going to happen. They guy, while he might be a nice guy and a great reporter, is just NOT anchor material. I still say the Devin guy who is already at KPIX, is PERFECT for the job. He is right under their nose and they don't see it!
Well, Amanda-bot does have very white teeth. Every time I watch her newscasts, her battery seems to be running a little low.
DeleteMore orange spray tan will fix that.
DeleteShe had some weird-ass caked-on bronzer application going on the other day, that covered her typical orange. It looked like a cross between George Hamilton and the Coppertone Girl. It was freakish.
DeletePretty sure Starrantino isn't an actual human.
ReplyDeleteI think Devin Fehely does a great job on weekends. Very professional, confident and personable. I always enjoy his newscasts as well as his reporting. They would be smart to use him more.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that is the guy I was referring to above in my earlier comment. He reads really well, and just sounds like what he is saying is the truth. He is someone that exudes confidence and what an anchor is supposed to be all about. He is RIGHT THERE, and apparently nobody at KPIX sees it! HE is the one who should be put up there as the heir apparent to Ken Bastida!
DeleteSo Neerman is as ugly on the inside as on the outside?
ReplyDelete"Like many other things, I had heard Neerman was an ass but almost everyone in the TV News biz, to some degree, is a jerk, it's the nature of the field."
ReplyDeleteThat is largely true and I wonder why. Most of the most immature people I've met in my life worked in TV news. Oddly, someone in the field warned me not to go into advertising, because of "all the dumb people who work there...They have *ponytails!*" I went into in advertising and while it wasn't exactly full of Aristotles it was more mature than the news biz.
Such B.S. There are lots of super nice folks in the news business, and also quite a few who come into it with high-minded ideals. They try to make a difference. And in all my time in the biz, all but two reporters were among the nicest humans I ever met. That's a pretty high batting rate. So unless you've slaved in the trenches like me, you have no right to pass judgement.
DeleteA boss in the media being a jerk?? Im stunned
