An anchor MIA alert wasn't called but it should have at the all-news 740 AM asylum. Take the case of the past few days, please just take it and be quick.
The morning is a mess. Stan Bunger retired almost seven months ago and KCBS still has NO REPLACEMENT. After months of trying out everyone locally and nationally, KCBS still has no permanent anchor. Dan Mitchinson has been working steady shifts with woeful co-anchor, Holly Quan, and without notice, Mitchinson disapeared and showed up on the mid-day news --he replaced perennial AWOL, Rebecca Corral.
So to fill in Mitchinson, the god-awful Eric Thomas, who has no personality, is completely devoid of anchor chops and is woefully out of space, subjected Bay Area listeners to his brand of doo-doo. Worse, Thomas's duties were no help to PC countess, Quan, who continues to inject her mediocrity to the all-news outlet and Bay Area audience.
To top off the latest mildew, there was the annual MIA PM anchor, Patti Reising, who missed her third straight day --including today (Friday)--no explanation was given and the dreadful, BORING, Jeff Bell, anchored solo with all the personality and flair of a Concord Motel 6.So there you have it. Just another crappy day at once mighty KCBS and a news boss, Jennifer Seelig, seemingly incapable of minding the store. Everyone whose anyone at KCBS tells me that reporters are LEAVING in droves and early retirement is on the to-do list. Attrition is common but at KCBS it's at a frenzy pace. Seelig couldn't lead an Eskimo to an ice show but she's been given eternal pass status because, well, take a guess.
First thoughts on Ryan Yotoshoma on KPIX???
ReplyDeleteI wish I could show a picture of a toilet full of crap and toilet paper, that is what KCBS has turned into. Get your S%$# together KCBS the once strong bay area news station.
ReplyDeleteExecutives at these companies have to know the. AM Spectrum is heading the way of the 8 track tape! My guess is the want to do the last few years cheap and pocket the difference.
ReplyDeleteThe Once MIGHTY...KCBS...The once MIGHTY KGO...The Once Mighty KSFO.
ReplyDeleteI am seeing a suspicious trend here.
The once-mighty Netscape. The once-mighty Internet Explorer. The once-mighty Nokia. The once-mighty Blackberry. The once-mighty Bell System (aka the original AT&T, not the current pretender). The once-mighty Chrysler, or Hertz. The once-mighty (and now defunct) Pan Am, TWA, Eastern Airlines, PSA, Studebaker, AMC, Philco, Zenith, RCA, etc., etc.
