*Van Amburg was a jerk at times, of course he was but most great artists are screwed up. Frank Sinatra, Woody Allen, Mort Sahl, Bill Cosby, Lenny Bruce, Jessica Savitch to name a few.
*Christine Craft: yeah Christine, you're just a regular Evita.
*KGO-TV great nds like Jacobus, Keeshan, Weiss--now stuck with the yenta with more baggage than the United terminal at SFO.
*Maybe a sea change at KPIX with a new, global, visionaary 5 cast with LA and NY genre, hope this is real.
*Dan Dibley must have pictures.
*Mark Willard: yeah, that'll move the needle.
*FAUX OUTRAGE: John Rothmann screaming at a Trump caller on KGO.
Willard and Dibley show will die within 18 months to two years. It is SO bad. Two bores self-referencing themselves, families, and friends. NO ONE cares.
ReplyDeleteThey're ok. It's still a new show.... They love donuts though. It's amazing to me how much food Willard consumes, but he has no body fat. He must have some type of magic pill that he's taking to stay in shape. LOL.
DeleteAs far as how long this show last, I think it will stick around for a while since Willard and Dibley are friends in real life and already have chemistry, but with the way 95.7 has changed their weekday lineup as frequently as they have recently, who knows how long this show might last.
How do you know they are friends in real life? So work isn't real? WTF are you babbling about?

Why does Bill Martin constantly have to identify whatever camera shot is on screen? When he doesn't know what it is he asks other staffers "say, is that Sutro Tower?". Who the f**k cares what it is, just give us the forecast!

ReplyDeleteMort Sahl was not screwed up. I followed his career for almost 60 years. He didn't do drugs and didn't mess with women the way the others did. Comedy still hasn't caught up with what he was doing in 1953. And he and Jim Garrison, the district attorney of New Orleans, were right about the Kennedy Assassination and Mort paid a heavy price for sticking his neck out. Mort was a contrarian but razer-sharp incisive and towers above Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, George Carlin or any of the other wannabes. No contest. There will never be another like him.
Jim Garrison was not right about the JFK assassination, which is why he lost in court when he prosecuted Clay Shaw and was ridiculed the rest of his career, see what some of his own investigators said about him...the movie JFK was based on Garrison's theories and is a complete lie...sad that many people believe it regardless...

DeleteI liked his bit about people always coming up to him over the years with some new candidate, "You'll like him, he's just like Jack Kennedy," every time, so at some point he wondered, "is there ANYone who isn't just like Jack Kennedy? Yeah... TEDDY Kennedy!"
It always surprised me how easily Patty Hearst appeared to make the transiton from being 'Tania" with the Symbionese Liberation Army back to being "Patty" daughter from a wealthy SF family. For her sake, I'm happy she could do it. She has some good stories to tell her Grandchildren.

Seems like now Ron Owens is gone from KGO your new target is John Rothmann, you use to like him, he hasn't changed. Not that you shouldn't be critical of John, but it is almost every day of late, already getting old. I don't think John fake his outrage at some of the callers he gets, I think it is real. Several right wing hosts only take calls from whose who agree with them, or they get cut off almost instantly. I like Pat Thurston, but today she took a caller from someone that challenged her, she did set him straight, but didn't allow him a follow up comment, I really would have like to hear what he had to say for himself, so in that regard I get frustrated with Pat, which is why at times I listen to Tom Sullivan.
